This is were i found out... In my opinion this reboot is unneeded and unwanted. Its just another way to get our money and i for one am not falling for it. The franchise is fine were its at and there is no need to reboot it... in my opinion the special effects are fucking twice as good as what we have in "modern" movies... i dont see the point other then to make money...

Will they be following the latest scientific theory that velociraptors and most other dinosaurs were likely to have had feathers?

heh, looks cool! though it's a hard concept to sell. I mean, feathers are highly specialized, so unless they evolved FROM a bird, then I have a hard time conceptualizing that idea. what I mean is... feathers are very advanced "technology" err... biology rather; they lock together, they are light, all kinds of stuff to make you fly. so unless they were programmed to evolve into birds in a few million years, a feather as we know it is probably not what they had. though, I wouldn't doubt they had something similar... like, whatever you could imagine the prefeather to be... probably more hoarse and hairlike.

hmm... what was the topic again?

oh right, JP... yeah, I loved those movies and books. lets reboot! though they should always include Jeff Goldbloom(sp?) in there.

I know we live in a world of sequels and reboots, but wasn't Jurassic Park like a decade ago? Isn't it a little premature?

Are they still planning on making this? I heard about this a while back and had thought they just gave up or something. Well all I can say is, Jeff Goldblum had better damn well be in or I won't be seeing it. No matter how much I love Jurassic Park.

In all seriousness if you want more that go see the first two. They still exist i think.

would also be cool if they updated the dinos to have feathers

in a bit of a funny conicdence I just finally got my ass around to buying a copy of the actual book and was planning on reading it today

Hm... Meh, loved the three movies (even the third), but I don't really think they need a reboot. :S

It is indeed a cash in. However, the franchise is not fine where it is. Only #1 should exist, #2 was passable but not nearly as good, and #3 should never have seen the light of day.

I never get why 3 is considered so bad? I have watched it over again a far bit and don't see any issues with it.

This makes me cry more than Ghostbusters 3. I mean, really? Jurassic Park isn't like Star Trek, or Superman, franchises that can get a reboot and still be the same thing without being overtly familiar. I mean, I assume this will follow the books. In which case, it's a REMAKE. Not a reboot! You're remaking the film of the book of the same name!! Christ!

You know what really needs a "reboot"? The Star Wars Prequel Trilogy. Wait til Lucas is dead or in a mental home, and re-write the whole things so they make a lick of sense. That'd be a reboot I'd support. Go, Spielberg, go!

1993, so almost 2 decades ago. Still premature though.

I bet that made you feel old... it did for me.

For me it was because there was very little story, and what was there was bare bone to get them on an island to survive dinosaur attacks.

Hey we were paragliding next to an island with dinosaurs (which should be very well known by now to the world lets go find the missing boy who crash landed on the island. Remake some of the character types in the previous films that were popular, cue dinosaur attacks and escape the end.

The first two had plausible cause and effect. Also there was little to no characterization, and what there was was to be extrapolated from the first film. (Oh smart kid who knows about dinosaurs, recurring characters, ect...)

Isn't Michael Crichton dead? He did like a few years ago.
And..I'm a little iffy on the reboot but I did read JP and Lost World so eager to see how faithful they keep it.

First of all, if they do make a reboot, they'll most likely use the Utah Raptor or Deinonychus instead instead of the Velociraptor, seeing as the Velociraptor was roughly the size of a chicken. Seconly, they might just put a coat of down like feathers if they do go the feather route for the dinosaurs. Personally, I'd like to see the feather-free type of dinosaurs.
And thirdly, Micheal Crichton, the author of the two Jurassic Park books (and many others) died in 2008, so he can presently be on board with the reboot, at least not actively so. It is possible that he greenlit the reboot in his will, or that his estate/rights holders decided to go for it.
