Real Life. Sometimes, the grinding just gets to you, and you think to yourself, "Why am I doing this?" Then you remember...for the lulz.

Tom Clancy's Endwar: I bought this game out of a bargain bin for ?5, it has been in my games cabient ever since and I bought it about 8 months ago. I've just had no desire to even try it.

Alone in the Dark: I got 4 chapters in until they started making me run around burning down the big red tree things. It got way to boring from then on.

Brutal Legend: God this game got so boring about 4 hours in. I haven't picked it up for months.

Red Faction Guerrilla: I played about half an hour of this and I just found it extremly boring.

Yeah Brutal Legend, its a decent game, but about half way through I just lost all interest in it.
Me too, right about the time it turned into a sub par fucking RTS.

OT:

Devil May Cry 4:

Brought it back to the shop the same day I bought it.

I got about half way through Assassin's Creed 2 and then just stopped and haven't gone back. Same with Dragon Age: Origins.

Dragon Age. I -wanted- to like it. Heck, it's bioware, has an expansion, and a soon coming sequel. I tried multiple characters, multiple classes. Got very nearly to the end with my main. Got to Denerim or whatever the capital is called after having just finished the last of the three races I had to unite. The dwarves. They'd already strained my patience. Gods, have I fought enough freaking Darkspawn yet? No? Gonna chuck another huge army at me whilst my character swings her rather large double axe (And I much, -much- prefer swords..) Ooohh sooo sloowwllyy... Swwwiiinngg... sssswing... ssssswing... Oh that's one dead. Just another bazillion to go.
Even with god mode. Yes, I got -that- bored. I wanted to find out what happened. I got through it, and just thought "...Fuck it." And uninstalled. Now I'll never know. I ain't playing all the way through that again.
...Unless I got it for Christmas. For the 360 this time.
I was so disappointed. I pre-ordered ME1 and ME2 PC releases and played them and completed them in the course of three days each spending as much time as possible on them. And then played them again right after. Freaking loved it.

Oh well. Maybe DA2 will be better?

Final Fantasy XIII. I honestly believed XII (which I started, got 30 hours into and never played again) was just an isolated incident, and that XIII would captivate me from start to finish. Turns out, not so much.

More surprisingly, Batman: Arkham Asylum. It's an amazing game, there's no denying that, but when I sat down to play through the game again on the harder difficulty setting, I found myself swiftly losing interest. I'm not entirely sure why, but I think it's because I already know how the game plays out, and much of the appeal, for me, lies in not knowing what kind of insane traps the Joker's set up for you.
XII was the best out of all the FF games because of the level of freedom and expansiveness of the game world. All the other FF games felt so small and underwhelming compared to it. Plus how could you not love

Halo 1 on PC, I've tried twice to beat the campaign (continueing the 2nd time where I left off before) and still couldn't make myself finish it (I resued Keyes and then gave up on it again).

BioShock. After fighting the final boss a few times unsuccessfully, I haven't bothered to go back and finish it.
For me it was both the beginings of Bioshock 1 and 2. I tried Bioshock and felt that it was boring and trying to hard to be scary by forcing me into dark rooms (oh nothing bad will happen if I wander helplessly into this dark room with only a wrench) and Bioshock 2 didn't do anything to wow me either. After getting the plasmisd the game just made me want to try Oblivion again.

I should mention that I also just stopped playing Oblivoin after shutting the first gate. The animations and textures ae horrible and the game wants me to spend to many hours just to get the good abilities and weapons/armour.

About half my games actually!

Borderlands, Just Cause 2, Half Life 2, Dragon Age: Origins(I bought Awakenings as well and am no where near it), Bayonetta, Darksiders, Burnout Paradise, to name just a few.

I will finish them all eventually though, especially Half Life, Dragon Age and Darksiders. I hate just not wanting to be in the mood to play them though, its quite sad. Makes me feel like I should be loosing some gamer points or something.

I blame my increasingly shorter attention span. On the plus side I finally finished Saints Row 2 last night woo hoo. Pimp cane, thats all ill say.

Mostly RPGs and RTS, sometimes a couple of FPS. Generally, I play a lot of RPGs, but it's pretty rare for me to actually finish the thing. The only RPGs I finished before losing all interest in it was Pokemon Yellow & Gold on the GBC, Paper Mario on the N64 (I even finished it twice), Orcs & Elves on the DS and Fallout 1 & 3 on the PC.

I never got out of the first disc of FFVII, a friend of mine lended me FFVIII and I never got past the second disc, I never killed the last boss of Parasite Eve, Final Fantasy X and Paper Mario Thousand Year Door. Recently I re-re-replayed Chrono Trigger on the DS and I got farther than I normally would, but I still don't finish it before losing interest on it.

Most recently, Prince of Persia 2008, I just got simply annoyied by it, lame bosses with lots of quick time events and a lame Prince made me uninstall it half way through and never looked back, ever again.

I never got past lvl 40 in WoW, I never finished Diablo 2 and the expansions of Starcraft and Warcraft 3. I never finished Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts... I could go on and on and on... and on...

This very thing happened to me for Bad Company 2's single player.

It was so painfully bland and generic that I had to put it down. Not many games make that far of a regression from their prequels.

I guess along the lines of just plain stopped playing a game... Never really happened.
