As title says. I just got a 3DS and I am looking to get some stuff for it. So far my only 3DS title is Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance and I am wondering if there if any note worthy games are on the system or coming for the system soon.
So far I have my Eyes on Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, and the soon to come out Paper Mario Sticker Star.
I will also be picking up Pokemon Dream Radar for my Pokemon Black 2 version.
So any suggestions?
Also is there any features on the 3DS I should know about?
Well Ocarina of Time is very beautiful on it and I enjoy playing it. The only other game actual 3DS game I have is Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns which I think is SUPER fun to play, but HM isn't for everyone. If you are into Harvest Moon, the newest one "A New Beginning" is coming out in November and it's big hook is that for the first time you get to customize your character and parts of your farm.
Other than that I can't really recommend anything because I don't really use anything else on my 3DS cause I don't do online play.
The online store is pretty stocked, especially if you like classics like Super Mario Land 2, so on and so forth, and they're cheap.
Anyways, that's the only advice I have, sorry I'm not more help.
Yes. Yes you want those games, especially the first one especially if you're a fan of rhythm games.
If it has Mario in it, you're going to want to at least rent it (can't say as much for Tennis Open since I've only played the demo of that one and am not a fan of Tennis). That's all I've really got in mind though honestly...cloroxbb is right about pricing and while I enjoyed my 3DS games they didn't last me as long as I thought they would have. I still had fun though with games like Samurai Warrior Chronicles and, Kid Icarus Uprising though.
There should be a lot of demos available so check those out! Resident Evil Revelations is likely my next 3DS purchase (either that or Sticker Stars) so there's another bit of food for thought.
It's the best Resident Evil game since number 4. With all the people complaining about how Resi 5 and 6 went down the action route, I really don't know why this doesn't get more attention. It's set on a dark, claustrophic ship, with low amounts of ammo and classic Resident Evil exploration and atmosphere. Sure, it's got action parts near the end and peppered throughout the middle with Chris and his partner, but in my eyes they're used sparingly enough that it doesn't get jarring and they offer nice little breaks in between the tension. The Raid mode is awesome too, it's an addictive little arcade experience that I played for about ten hours before I got bored. I reckon if this game was made with better graphics, put onto the PS3 and Xbox 360 and called Resident Evil 6 then fans would fucking leap for joy. But since it's on the 3DS it's been largely overlooked. I would reccomend getting the circle pad pro for it if you want to aim and move at the same time, or if you want Resi 4 tank controls don't bother.
I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. Naturally I'd recommend the standard flagships, they tend to be reliably not crap, but outside of that I don't know. I've heard some good things about RE: Revelations.
Well, having played Paper Mario before I can say it will be worth it.
Further I would like to recommend Tales of The Abyss which is my favourite 3DS game so far.
new Super Mario Bros. 2 is OK, but you wont miss anything by not buying it. It's the same old 2D platform game. I like it, but besides the DLC levels it doesn't offer anything new or special.
Try the game Devil Survivor: Overclocked. It's a hybrid turn-based strategy and RPG game with an emphasis on dialogue choices. The cast live or die by your actions and it can get pretty intense. It helps that it's not a very easy game.
If you like the RPG mechanics, look into the rest of the Shin Megami Tensei series. Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers is a re-release of one of the best games on PS1 coming to 3DS eventually and Shin Megami Tensei IV is also slated to be released on the bugger(I seriously love my 3DS now.) If you love DS:O and want more you can look into games on other systems, like Devil Survivor 2 and Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey on DS, Persona 3 FES/Portable and Persona 4 / P4: Golden on the PS2/P/Vita or Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne on PS2.
If you like the strategy elements, I'd also recommend looking into Fire Emblem: Awakening, which should be out in Europe(and hopefully 'Merica) early next year. To get an idea of what it'll be like check out Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones or Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance.
Ha i camr into the thread to say this. I also find it funny . That someones buys a 3DS , then asks ehat games to buy , indtead of researching the games , see if anything intrests them . Especially since theres like 5 games for the thing . Not the right time to buy a 3DS in my opinion . I would have waited until there is more than 5 games for the poor thing .
I recomend that SMT devil survivor game . Only because i played the one and DS and it was great.
Well, I have Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance...
...Kid Icarus: Uprising, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Mario Kart 7, Metal Gear Solid 3D: Snake Eater, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Resident Evil Revelations, Super Mario 3D Land and Theatrhythm Final Fantasy...
3DS.
And I think all of them are fantastic. I had a hard time getting into NSMB2, and I still haven't finished Ocarina of Time, even though it was the first game I got for my 3DS last year, but all the rest are fantastic. Kid Icarus really surprised me with how fantastic it was, though it's only recommended if you're fine with your games being light-hearted and kind of silly. Of course Kid Icarus has conflict within the story, but it's very light-hearted.
Mario Kart 7 is great, and one of the best Mario Karts out there (I definitely can't even play Mario Kart DS after it, mostly because I prefer the driving mechanics in this one a lot), but again, only if you're into racing and online racing specifically, as it increases the longevity of the game significantly.
New Super Mario Bros. 2 is usual New Super Mario Bros. I didn't get into it right away, and was kind of disappointed in the beginning, but I started playing it with the clear intention of finishing it, and it got its hooks in me. But as far as the New Super Mario Bros. series goes, it's not exciting almost at all, and it's kind of...bland.
Resident Evil Revelations is, as mentioned before, fantastic, and definitely not the action-y affair that 5 and 6 are. It's scarier and has an atmosphere much more reminiscent of old Resident Evils. Enemy encounters are way more scarce than in 5 and 6, and it's harder than either of those.
Super Mario 3D Land I loved. The end boss fight is the stuff of legends. I revisited it recently, and it controls kind of oddly at first, but you get used to it.
Theatrhythm was fun but...I don't think I got my money's worth. I played through the songs, but didn't find much appeal in it afterwards. Still fantastic, though.
And Metal Gear Solid 3D is, well...Metal Gear Solid 3. Just with some new 3DS-specific features and 3D (which I never use on my 3DS, though).
If you haven't had a chance to play Tales of The Abyss on PS2 then get it because it fixes the atrocious loading times and is really fun especially if you enjoy Kingdom Hearts.
The Final Fantasy rhythm game is enjoyable form what little I've played of it.
Ocarina of Time 3D is pretty fun(has some minor tweaks to make it even better) and most of the Virtual Console titles are great(Link's Awakening,Shinobi,Mario Land 2:Six Golden Coins).
Oh and as someone above me said be on the lookout for the SMT titles when they are released.
Well let's see... you already talked about getting Paper Mario, I can't say for certain but if history is any indication it should be awesome. A lot of people have mentioned Ocarina of Time, I played it all the way though for the first time on the 3DS and I really liked it.
What else... Oh I know! Kid Icarus: Uprising is amazing! The gameplay is fun, it's funny, and the characters are amazing! I seriously can't think of any character from the game I didn't fall in love with. The only downside is if use play it with out the (admittedly clunky) stand it comes with your hand may start to hurt after awhile.
There's also Tales of the Abyss. It's a JRPG, it was originally for the PS2, and although I haven't beaten it yet so far I'm really enjoying it. I think I still preferred Tales of Symphonia (I am praying that gets a 3DS release someday) but overall Abyss is still a pretty good game.
Super Mario 3D Land is pretty interesting and there's always the Harvest Moon games if you're into those. Scribblenauts Unlimited is coming out soon too, and I remember loving the original. Also Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate is coming out next year and I'm really looking forward to that!
You can also get some pretty cool Virtual Console games on the system. I know I have Link's Awakening which is pretty fun.
Tales of the Abyss. Probably my highest recommendation for the 3DS. It's a direct port of the PS2 version with no extra goodies like the normal port would have, but it's just so damn good.
Ocarina of Time is also amazing. Beautifully remastered.
Theatrythmn Final Fantasy is beyond amazing. It's incredibly addictive. Incredibly.
Paper Mario: Sticker Star looks really good and I'm looking forward to it.
I rather enjoy New Super Mario Bros. 2, as well. Going back to the first one afterward is a bit jarring, though.

Revelations was surprisingly fun, even if it was completely ridiculous in places. Many, many places. It had the same vibe as RE4 going a lot of the time, the total lack of any kind of seriousness. Or maybe that's just me, but it was still fun.
I would recommend Kid Icarus Uprising, but that recommendation has an asterisk.
If you are just looking to play each level once without trying for challenges or play on a higher difficulty setting, just rent it. The vast majority of KI:U's replayability comes from self-imposed challenges the game recommends.
Also, I'll recommend some downloadable titles from the eShop:
Pushmo, a decent puzzle game. Lots of levels, worth the money.
Sakura Samurai. Best way I can describe it is it's like a 3D Punch Out.
Mighty Switch Force. Very simplistic gameplay, but has challenging puzzles and well worth the price.
Plus there are a bunch of old gameboy games from the virtual console. I personally recommend Mario Land 2.
I got a card for my 3DS and bought Pokemon Dream Radar as well as the eShop Cave Story. Yeah it does not have any 3D Models unlike the Retail version but it has far more Endgame content.

Big fan of Rythem games (Whats that? You heard I 5 Stared Free Bird on Expert in GH? You bet your ass I did.) And I love Final Fantasy Soundtracks so yeah I want it.

Avoid Kid-Icarus. It's a rail shooter. With delusions of grandeur.
..why? why 3DS? barely any good innovative games for it, most are just Remakes and Re releases in the amazing Nausea Inducing 3D! Gonna hold my money until a Brick ton of games come out for it...like it's very own Halo, a game that makes me want to get the System just to play the Unique experience.
