Was Batman even a part of that group or helped organized it?
As far as I can tell (my contact with the series is relatively recent), no. He was never a part of JLD. He had cameos here and there, but his presence is so out of place at the meat of their stories as having Wolverine help Doctor Strange.

The nature of Justice League Dark is that they face mostly paranormal threats. Some of the most well known members include Deadman, Constantine, Zatanna, Etrigan, Frankenstein, Swamp Thing and Raven. A man dressed as a bat would be so outclassed in these adventures as he is in most of his Justice League adventures... however, he is Batman, so of course he has to be included.

Than that just adds more credence to my arguements that Batman IS overexposed and shoehorned into everything DC lately.

I mean he is front and center of the Box Art Cover of this movie. (Near the end of the video shows the cover)

Well, they seem to be trying to bridge over to JLD through the regular Justice League of their modern animated movies, and of that roster, Batman is the one with the most contacts with the paranormal. The other options of common Leaguers who brush up against magic would be Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel, neither of whom really fit tonally.
