Keyboard on consoles

I have a question that I want to ask all the console owners so here it goes...
Did any of you ever try to use a mouse and a keyboard to play some games?

I know that some stores sell adapters that are supposedly able to use both mouse and keyboard and that should work in any game but has anyone actually try them?

The reason I'm asking is because I'm getting married soon and I'll have to save money for house, wife, etc. so my days of upgrading my computer are over. I like consoles but I hate gaming pads you have to use on consoles and that's the main reason that I'm sticking on PC (because I like to play shooters with a mouse). I have tried to use them in the past but it's just not the same.

So does anyone have any good reviews or experiences with those adapters?
I have browsed through the web searching for reviews but I couldn't find any actual reviews from gamers.

Edit: I was thinking of something in the lines of this (http://gizmodo.com/223087/xcm-xfps-xbox-360-keyboardmouse-adapter-available-now) or this (http://xbox.gamespy.com/articles/565/565000p1.html).

There's no technical reason why they shouldn't work, but the vast majority of console games do not come with support for a keyboard-and-mouse setup. You're just going to have to learn how to deal with a control pad, I'm afraid.

Or buy a pc...
Sigh... I do have a PC but I want to switch to a console because they're cheaper. I don't want to upgrade my PC every year like I used to do.

EDIT: I don't need advice about PC's or if you can or need to use a mouse and a keyboard. I need some user input about those adapters you can buy.

I have used a Keyboard and Mouse on my Playstation 3 Console and they work fine.

There is only one catch, you can play most games using them but you can't use them to play online, because that would be unfair (though some games will allow you to play online with a keyboard and mouse, just not the majority).

I personally didn't use an adapter, i just plugged the usb keyboard and mouse i own into the two usb ports in my playstation.

I don't play online. Ever.
I have googled if PS3 supports keyboard and mouse but every review said that only a selected few games work.

I got a Max Shooter FPS to work with an original Xbox, and it was fun for a while, until I realized that it was pointless because I could be playing better games on my PC. It is good for system link or split screen though.

I wouldn't know that out of experience, but what I CAN say, is that I remember here on the Escapist, that there was an advertisement for a PS3 controler that was looking a bit like a nunchak (Wii) and a mouse, both of which made specificly for the console. If anything should work, it should be that one.

Gratz on getting married.

Most games you will be able to adapt to - the only problem is shooters & RTS. RTS is annoyingly more difficult on a console pad whilst shooters has its disadvantages, but still fun to play on twinstick.

No need to start crying or trying to turn this into some PCs are bad or PC v. console thread.
I'm not. I just want some answers about keyboard and mouse options on consoles. If I'd need an advice about PC's I'd say so.

Thanks for the wishes and thanks for the link. That looks like something that I've been looking for and that should work.

You need advice about grammar and yet you haven't said so.
My native language is not English so I can't help you if you feel offended by my grammar.

The PS3 supports usb mice and keyboards, but only certain games support them, only one I can think of off the top of my head is UT3. Although I saw somewhere a PS3 mouse that replaces the controller, can't remember much about it though.

Look. I need an advice so please leave this topic if you can't contribute to it. That's all I'm asking. I'm not starting a pointless argument. My first post was written as clearly as I could write it just because I wanted some concrete answers from users that tried the things I'd like to try and now you're trying to argue with me just to prove some point (I don't know which).

Ok you win. Whatever you want. Just please don't argue anymore.

Edit: Maybe you're sick of my replies and filling of your inbox so I won't quote you. Will that help?
