Bit of a long title, let me explain.
Have you ever liked a ripoff of a series more than the series it was ripping off. For me its Saints Row. Much more fun than the new GTA and highly underrated.

Saints Row captured everything that made Grand Theft Auto fun and then stuck it on crack. Plus after how drastically different GTA IV was, Saints Row 2 was a little comfort blanket that made a nice link to the anarchy that made San Andreas, Vice City and London just so much fun.

Most of these "knock offs" arent even right. Gears isnt the same as transformers, other than 3rd person. Halo, Section 8, future setting thats it. Gun and Red dead, western setting.

Anyways back OT: Saints Row, there arent many knock offs I favor over the original.

Anyway, I agree with the comments about Okami and Saints Row being IMO better than their inspirations. I'll add Banjo Kazooie (Super Mario 64) and Shadow Warrior (Duke Nukem 3D).
