Large portions of Knights of the Old Republic 2 had to be cut because of the short development cycle forced upon the developers, but the modding community found ways to restore most of the missing content after a number of years along with giving it a bit of a face lift

The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod by DStoney and zbyl2: TSLRC brings back the majority of the cut content from the original game. Many of the story arcs are now complete, planets have plenty of new content, the Dantooine battle is improved and the HK Factory has been restored.

Woohooh!

Hearing about all the cut content and loose ends was what kept me from getting that, I certainly wanted to after playing the first one.

Now if only they'd sell it on Steam, I'd get it straight away.

This was released many, many moons ago, however every time I post it someone always says that they hadn't known about it, so I will bump this thread for great justice!

And seriously its awesome. The list of restored content is like an entire thread page long.

This was released quite some time ago and has been updated multiple times since as well. Here's a link to the Official site rather than a fileplanet download.

On the plus side side it was released months ago I've played it and can confirm that yes, it does indeed make Kotor 2 much, much better. There are still some chunks of the game missing, an entire planet to be precise, but with this mod installed Kotor 2 actually resembles a *gasp* completed product with a cohesive plot that genuinely makes sense. Yay!

Also worth noting that the developers of this mod are actually working on restoring that missing planet as well, that's right, an entire planet not in the default game. They created an unrelated mod some time ago which added in a rough version but for their Restored Content Mod they're apparently working to make it as solid as possible.

Going to be grand, when that version is released I'll likely make another play-through of the game bringing it up to... hmm, four times? That's more than I've played the original Kotor, go figure. And Kotor 2 just keeps getting better each time too, excellent!

Awww, so it's still not finished? :( too bad. However there's been plenty of progress since I last looked at it. Might give it a go this time. It's been a while since I played KOTOR2 anyway.

FYI the link is to v1.5. I've got v1.6 so there's at least one newer version.
They're up to version 1.7 by now, the OP's link is pretty outdated though I'm always happy when this project receives attention.

There's a planet missing still which confuses one of the characters overarching story since something is clearly supposed to happen to them there which is never fully explained since, well, the planet doesn't actually exist in the game.

But beyond that it's pretty much done. I played through Kotor 2 awhile back when the 1.6 version of this mod was released and really enjoyed the experience, actually felt, well, whole! I understood what was going on, I understood why, and I was having fun exploring the possibilities and interacting with the excellent cast of characters. I'd even go so far as to say in a couple ways Kotor 2 (With this mod installed) was a superior experience to the first. A compliment not lightly given.

If you've been wanting to replay Kotor 2 I'd highly recommend it. Besides, can always replay again when the 2.0 version or whatever it is that contains the missing planet is released. Probably wont be for awhile still however so wouldn't hold my breath.

I've played with version 1.7 - don't forget to inall the the unofficial fix [http://deadlystream.com/forum/files/file/12-tslrcm-17-unofficial-fix/] after installing the mod or the game can break in a couple of circumstances. It's fantastic, it makes a great game even greater. I was under the impression that there will eventully be a 1.8!

Don't quote me on this, but the droid planet was cut out relatively early in development, I think. The Restored version of it was kind buggy and not fun anyway, most flat scenery and it's pretty obvious that it didn't have much work on it.

Anyway, the Restoration Mod really makes KOTOR 2 into the game it should have been. Aside from the still abrupt ending, it adds a ton of stuff to the game. It even adds back in the best part which is in my opinion, the Droid Factory near the end of the game. It has the best HK-47 moments in the entire series, and actually expanded on his character and actually added some complexity to a rather simple (If not awesome) character.

I might try the game again now.

Maybe I can finally get past the first awful brain numbing area.
You know there's a mod that lets you skip that first area(Peragus) also? I used it on my last couple playthroughs and it was a life saver. Gives you level, 8 I think, and a lightsaber too. So you dont have to wait a good, iunno 6 or 7 or more hrs into the game before you get your first one.

What exactly was missing from the game
A few planets, multiple story arcs, about 10-15 more hours probably. Remember, there was a whole bunch of setups for quests that didn't go anywhere. HK Commented several times in KOTOR 2 about who awful it was that there would be copies of him, but never being resolved. It's also why the ending involved just a clip of the Ebon Hawk flying away.

Lucas Arts was acting like it's typical dumbass self and made obsidian kick the game out the door after only a year without it being done. All the incomplete data was on the disk, but the game was made so it couldn't access it.

Wellll... if you paid for it on steam, the devs wouldn't see the money. It'd go to Lucas Arts who caused the problem in the first place, so buying it at this point would be like rewarding them for cutting corners and screwing things up.

What....what was wrong with Peragus? I thought the atmosphere of that place was mysterious and creepy, and amazing.

That was the first time I've witnessed somebody express a fondness for Peragus. Nice to know I'm not alone.
