From the Rockstar website comes this news:

PC gaming aficionados, we hear you. And today, we are very happy to announce that L.A. Noire will be arriving on the PC platform this fall.

Developed by Rockstar Leeds and built to run on a wide range of PCs, L.A. Noire's robust feature customization includes keyboard remapping and gamepad functionality to both optimize and customize performance and user experience. Along with increased fidelity and improved graphical enhancements, the PC version will also feature 3D support for an even greater sense of interaction and immersion within a painstakingly detailed 1940s Los Angeles.

Originally developed by Team Bondi in conjunction with Rockstar Games, L.A. Noire is a crime thriller set in post World War II Los Angeles. As Detective Cole Phelps, players must search for clues, interrogate suspects and chase down criminals to solve a series of cases based on real world incidents. As he rises through the ranks of the LAPD, Phelps comes face-to-face with the corrupt heart of Los Angeles: from fallen starlets to double-dealing police officers and the vast reaches of the criminal underworld and finally, the darkness of his own personal demons.

For much, much more about L.A. Noire, visit www.rockstargames.com/lanoire and stay tuned for the PC version release date announcement.
Phew, was almost worried that it wouldn't getting a release but very happy to hear this being a PC gamer only. However I do wonder whether or not this is a port as it does say "Developed by Rockstar Leeds and built to run on a wide range of PCs". Given Rockstar's GTA IV PC treatment I don't have my hopes up.

Next, Red Dead Redemption?

Meh, played the game at a friend not long ago and it didn't impress me that that much.

Eh.

From everything I have heard, this is the impression I get: "yeah, this game is fucking awesome! Alright, its impossible to fail, and the interogations aren't good enough to support the concept, and the acting can be jarringly put together, but yeah this is great! Go Rockstar!".

I was interested initially, but there seems to be rather large problems that are simply swept over because its a Rockstar game (which it isn't for the most part, from a development point of view).

Well, sweet. I always wanted to play the game, but none of my friends who own a PS3 have the game.
Yay!

The game certainly has problems, but to me it one of those anomalies like Bioshock or Enslaved, where the atmosphere and story made you forget the clumsy mechanics - it was just a world that was fun to exist in and experience.

Well, I didn't like BioShock all that much and I thought Enslaved's story turned into a "what not to do in your story when you're two thirds of the way through it you stupid, stupid writer".

...

Its been a rainy day.

There are problems with the interrogations, but I still enjoyed them. You just have to learn what the different response types really mean, and then interrogations are good (save for one example where a piece of evidence wasn't usable to make an accusation). That was my favorite part of the game. And the actors do a good job, but the characters aren't given a chance to deepen (except for Jack Kelso). It's a point and click adventure, really. But I like those kind of games.

Mods, we will unleash them.

And fix at least a few of the issues... ..I just hope they don't put GFWL in it. Not that its hard to disable it, it's just a dick move having to briefly install it before using an xliveless equivalent.

I still don't get why in the hell they announce this after the console version has been out for a few weeks. I would have gladly waited till fall to play it on my favorite platform... had they only told me it was coming.

That's why they don't tell you.

Publishers (and therefore also developers) are less likely to get sweetheart deals with console manufacturers if they don't push the console versions to bring the manufacturers all that lovely licencing fee money.

Well at least I rented it.

I guess what pisses me off is, and I can see this now, they're going to be all "Baww the PC version didn't sell well! Those damn pirates! I'm never putting a game on PC again!" It's just like Epic when they released gears of war PC one fucking year after it came out on the 360 then bitched and moaned it didn't sell well; despite competing with other shooters in the holiday season such as Unreal Tournament 3... their own property.
