L4D Free...but how do you DL it ?

Hey guys, I read a post on here yesterday saying that L4D would be free on Steam for today only.

So this morning, I log in to steam, and search L4D, and sure enough there is a link saying:
'Play FREE TODAY until 11:59pm GMT (Friday 4:59pm PDT). Play it now!'

I click the link, and it takes me to the page where you buy it, and it says it costs £16.19 and that it is 40% off this weekend only...

So does anyone actually know how you play for free?

I am going to, but I currently only have a (quite high spec) Laptop, and I wanted to test it to see if it would work on here. If it doesn't I am going to be saving twice as hard to get my new PC
I have L4D on Xbox and I find it amazing, and have only heard that it is better on PC!

Yea, clicking play it now takes me to the page where you would buy the game, there is no free option.
