Right. Hello, Escapist. Not posted here in a very long while, so if protocol on posting has drastically changed and I have committed a grave faux pas, let me know.
So, my laptop (an Acer Aspire 5735 model) has given up the ghost. The charger itself appears to be fine; it still has the green light displaying on the power brick, and I haven't had any trouble with it before. However, the charger socket on the laptop itself has apparently died. It had been very awkward before, randomly deciding that the charger wasn't in and needed to be reconnected, but last night, despite my efforts to reconnect and re-angle the charger, it did not charge the battery. This is *not* one of the "Plugged In, Not Charging" issues I've seen when I've googled (in which the laptop recognises that the charger is in and also recognises there is a fault with the charging), as my laptop is just not recognising the existence of presence of the charger at all. The battery is now very dead indeed, and everything I've looked up online has only addressed issues of when the laptop does not charge when it recognises the charger is in.
tl;dr: laptop not charging, not recognising charger, do I need to buy a new laptop or (immensely preferable) is there a way to resolve the issue with the charger port?
