I noticed on the homepage that in the artwork in the Warhammer 40K News Bit... That man has massive hands.
Also, in World of Warcraft... Most of the male character models have hands the size of their biceps...
...Is there a reason for this? Could it just be artistic style?

I blame the "large hands means large dick" theory.

In all seriousness, I just think weird proportions is an art style. The same games also happen to have MASSIVE weapons and shoulder armor.

For one thing, I could imagine that hands are really rather vulnerable, especially with the fighting style of a Assault Marine or likewise. Thus they have stronger armor to cover the fingers. They also have a weapon that is basically just a huge strength enhancer glove with energy field around it to cause heavy damage at melee range.

I never really noticed their hands being that big though. Their biceps are not proportionally large enough compared to the size of their gloves and there was a rather amusing render of how a space marine would actually look to fit into the armor they wear. Or they just have thick gauntlets.
All in all I don't know if a Space Marine could even move in their oversized fridges anyways. I love the marines and the lore behind it, their armor looks really cool, but it's completely impractical anyways so the hands never appeared too large to me.

For the Warhammer 40k thing, it's most likely that the massive hands are just artistic style, probably with a dash of symbolism. As for WoW, I always thought that the men had large hands so you could see the detail from a distance. Up close, all of the human men look like apes, with their long arms and massive hands. But from a distance, they look more natural and you can clearly see what they're doing with their hands.

Why all the females don't have massively huge hands, though, I don't understand. Sure, women tend to have smaller hands than men in real life, but in WoW a female human could probably place her hand flat on a human man's hand and her fingers might BARELY reach the edge of his palm.

A lot of girls in my year (Year 11) follow that one. I attribute it to the fact that they don't know shit about penises in general. For example, I have large hands and...

I will leave that sentence open-ended.

OT: Probably just a stylistic feature, like bobble-headed characters in some cartoons, or the bizarrely proportioned COG soldiers in Gears of War.

You know what the second most expressive part of the human body is after the face? Hands. When you're covered in head to toe in armor plating, large hands make it easier for a character to emote. It's the equivalent of drawing large eyes.

I see what you mean: easier to make it look like the hands are actually covering some one's face when they cry, instead of hitting themselves in the face with black blobs.

Although, I don't agree with the massive weapon and gun thing. THEY DO IT ALL THE TIME IN ANIME!

One thing I did find interesting was one of the trailers for Starcraft 2, where they show a marine having his armor assembled onto him. He was correctly proportioned and all... But when that thing was put on, he looked like a bunch of bricks stacked on top of each other to look like the shape of a suit.
Also, he had buttons which he pushed to manipulate the fingers of the gauntlet. That explains why they have massive hands...
