So, I've just returned from my second lesson. I think it went pretty well, got shifting into second gear & left-hand turns down, but my first attempt left alot to be desired: The poor guy instructing me had to hit the brakes and stop the car literally in the middle of the junction.

We had a good laugh about it and I managed the next corner with alot less hassle, and at least it didn't stall!

So, Escapists, I now ask you: What mishaps (or even just problems) did you have whilst learning to drive?

I got in a fricken accident on my second driving school session. Some girl rammed em going thirty when I had braked to let a man in front of me turn.

It sucked, but it was HILARIOUS when the instructor pulled out has massive AAA booklet and explained to me how he can practically have his car airlifted to the nearest center and have it fixed in less than a week.

After I first had my license, I was driving, with around 5 too many people in the car (When you first get it you are only supposed to have 1 person.)
I proceeded to accidentally drive into a median, total my car, and then I lied to my parents and said that someone hit me.
'Twas a fun day.

I never had any issues while doing my driving lessons. I'm pretty good at driving. :)

I'm actually a pretty good driver for someone who doesn't have their license nor even wants to get it.

I just don't like driving. It kinda freaks me out but maybe that's just because the only car I have available to drive anywhere is this hulking mess [http://www.gmcsierra.info/wp-content/uploads/gmc-denali/2/gmc-denali.jpg]

I'd much rather have one of these [http://www.cs.unm.edu/~aaron/images/europeweb/SmartCar-10.jpg] or even one of these [http://img.alibaba.com/photo/10926806/Standard_Vespa_150_Cc_Years_60s_As_Like_Vbb.jpg]

I JUST PASSED MY TEST ON FRIDAY! 2 minors bitchesssss ;D

But yeah, learning to drive sucks. Especially because my driving instructor was the most perverted guy in the world srsly. But he was a really good teacher so I stuck with him.

It's totally all worth it for the feeling when you pass though! Just wait until you start parallel park man, it absolutely bumfucks you.

Totalling and parallel parking? At least the first one is optional :x. I'm glad I didn't manage to do what the previous guy did & give him a puncture though.

No real accident, though my mum scratched our BRAND NEW CAR within a week.

I was pretty sad about that.

No accidents, however I was told by my instructor that I wouldn't pass my test. Still passed though

My father forced me to drive in traffic for my first time.

As a car was merging in my lane next to me I panicked and imminently switched lanes. My father freaked and slapped me in the face while still driving and panicking.

I pretty much stopped driving after that.

I have my G2 right now (graduated system of licensing in Canada, G1 -> G2 -> G) and I can say ever since I started university I've forgotten everything about cars. Oh well.

My first lesson, I got in the car with one foot on the brake and the other on the gas. I wondered how people drove without tiring out their legs. My dad gave me the most murderous look ever.

My lessons went fine.
Apart from nearly getting rear ended by a van. ><

I've had more incidents after my test then whilst learning and my test.
Driving into a hedge at 5mph sticks out the most. As does nearly getting hit by a bus.

Not exactly the most helpful way to ease you into driving. Try a proper instructor. If my ma or da were with me the first time I drove, they would probably have never got into a car with me again...

My worst thing was trying to go the wrong way around a roundabout whilst I was learning. I'd driven around then fine before, and luckily I didnt get too far before I realised I was being a total retard.

Not sure why I did that really. Total brain fart.

My very first driving lesson was with my mom. It ended with me parking the car on the side of the road, getting out and telling her to never try to teach me to drive again.

The only accident that I had with an actual driving instructor happened during some nasty winter weather disasters. One of them involved making a right turn on a corner covered in black ice. I got praised for automatically dropping down a gear and turning into the skid.

On one of my first lessons I was emerging from a busy junction, with big trees blocking my view. To my instructors horror, I pulled out right infront of a huge truck - my instructor immediately put it in reverse and the truck just missed us. I found driving with just an instructor really hard and I only managed to pass after my boyfriend took me driving in his car. Its mostly about your confidence, I kept messing up on the test because of nerves. I passed 4th time...
