And to answer your OP, I haven't really played the games much, so I don't have any solid ideas to improve the gameplay. I'm getting Left 4 Dead 2 for Christmas, though.

Why not make some more campaigns for L4d1? Then I can still play as Zoey and feel new and trendy.

Do we really need anymore? The new SI fill in the gaps left by the old SI, preventing survivors from exploiting cheap strategies such as corner camping. I can't think of a niche that now needs to be filled by other SI.Armored Prayer said:

I don't think gameplay can be improved as it pretty much does what it says on the tin. Killing zombies. From the L4D 1, I wanted the campaigns to have some link to them...but they seem to have done that with the new one.
Maybe some new special infected. Or perhaps getting to play as an infected for those of us with terrible internet connections...

don't yell, he's not saying he wants a new one already, just any Ideas of what to add, maybe in the DLC.
I would like to see a mode that was nothing but common infected. none of the common-uncommon, just the regular common. Like developer commentary, but the zombies are aggressive and there is a metric ass ton more. or maybe less guns. seriously, two SMGs that do the same damage, just one is silenced(which does bugger all to add) and two of each kind of shotgun, the assault rifles are okay because each one is different(the M16 is fast and the AK47 is strong)? Come on Valve, that's more than enough guns, just give me some zombies exploding and I'll be happy.

An old school 'Defend The Generic Survivor Fortress Against Legions of Zombies' mode would be cool.
But meh. That probably won't happen, and if it did, it probably wouldn't be awesome like expect it would. But then again, Valve has never disappointed me yet.

I have an idea, how about we have a game mode, where you're NOT immune, and if you get hit once you turn into a zombie.
Oh and no guns, any hit from any zomibe makes you into one, that includes smoker even TOCUHING you, spitter, hunter, charger,jockey, witch, you name it.
Oh and if blood gets near you, you get turned. No more melee that means, no more bombs.
Oh and you have a limited air supply, so if you don't beat the level in 5 minutes you die.
And if you touch a wall, that rips your suit and you die.
And snipers are after you.
