So this just happened, mad hype.

We get a sneak peek of the hero and heroine. As well as some ingame pics and some concept art.

The main differences from prior trails games listed there for the moonrunically challenged among us is that they will be implementing an SMT-like alignment system with your dialogue choices. Yep, the good ole law/neutral (they call it gray here)/ chaos triad in a trails game. Where do I give my money!?

Also, the combat is still turn based (bless) but they turned it into ATB this time around and the transition from running around in the overworld to entering combat is seamless so it will be quite a bit more fast paced.

They have a little prologue (this will mean more for people who know of the geopolitical situation in the trails of world) and it sounds like you play as a mercenary/detective from Calvard! Finally we can explore the other big player in Zemuria...and also find out what Zin has been up to since the end of trails in the sky 3 as well.

The protagonist sounds like he is communing with a Spirrigan, and he may have a connection to Imelga the black, so yeah this will keep on building from the other 9 games in this universe into an even more epic whole.

Well, seeing as I'm about halfway through the first Trails of Cold Steel and still have the other 3 games to play, I really hope they take their time with this one. No need to rush guys. Take a year or two to make it perfect, you don't want to do a Cyberpunk 2077 now do you? *sigh* I have so much catching up to do.

This is falcom and their games are pretty traditional so there's way fewer points where they could bug out like that so I wouldn't worry about it. Also this 2021 release is just the JP one so by the time we get the American release it'll be next year if not the year after that so any issues will be long fixed.

Also I wanna say they've been making this game for like 3 years now, since cold steel 4 came out around 2017 in Japan, so that's a pretty decent dev time for a 100-200 hour game (cold steel 4 is like 170 hours long lol).

Sorry, my humour may have got lost in the text (or was never there to begin with), I trying to say that I've only just started the Cold Steel series and have another 3 and a half games left to play, all of them 100 hours plus, if they want to take their time doing this one while I catch up, then that would be great:)

I have no doubt that their next game will be quality, I'm liking the first game (I know Sky came before Cold Steel but its unlikely I'll play that) despite its flaws so will probably pick the rest up at some point.

All of Sky is on steam so you can grab em pretty easily, they're older games so they don't require a strong machine.

This world is super rich so you kinda can't lose if you start from the start, all the games are excellent. Also cold steel uses a bunch of the chars from Sky so knowing their backstories makes that experience all the more impactful. Also you get more of the jokes and stuff. Like for example Juna is very much like the protag from Sky and I commented on that so when she eventually shows up all aged up in cold steel 4 and the game itself makes a joke about them being alike I was extremely gratified. I felt I understood the series on a deep level XD.
