I just listened to "Sis Puella Magica" and remembered how gorgeous a piece it is. And now I'm in the mood for some more beautiful music, so let's have some. Post beautiful music from the soundtracks of movies, TV shows, anime, etc. I prefer instrumental stuff, but music with lyrics is okay too, as long as it's beautiful.

Oh, and for those of you who haven't heard "Sis Puella Magica," here it is:

And here's a beautiful song I heard on a cartoon video my kid siblings were listening to:

Here's one from my childhood (It takes about 20 seconds for the actual melody to get started):

I literally have not heard a song more beautiful than this in a game.

The rest of the soundtrack to that game was amazing too. Everything from gloomy melodies, to amped up metallic rock. But only Midnight is soothing, haunting, somewhat melancholic, and carrying a note of optimism in some ways.

Honestly, it was worth buying the game JUST to have the music on hand. I mean, the game is alright, just way too complicated, and hard to be fun for anyone but the most dedicated RTS fan.

I'm gonna avoid posting a bunch of Yoko Shimomura and just pick the one I love the most.
Yoko Shimomura - Spooks of Halloween Town

Now, I've never played any Dark Souls game, but I am watching Team Four Star play through Dark Souls 3. The song that plays during Pontiff Sulyvahn's really nice.
Yuka Kitamura - Pontiff Sulyvahn

I've also never played Tales of the Abyss, but I did watch the anime. I'd look forward to the next episode just to listen to that theme song. When I found this instrumental version I was so happy!
Motoo Fujiwara - Karma (Instrumental)

Kamen Rider Kiva is one of my favorite Tokusatsu series. During the show the main character, and his deceased father, play the violin beautifully. So beautifully that I had to go look up more, and that's when I found this. I don't believe the song ever appears in the show or it's movies, but the MV certainly makes it seem like it should. I might just go watch the series again...
Vanessa Mae - The Devil's Trill Sonata

Any ambient, non-aggressive music from Elder Scrolls really hits the spot for me, but Frostfall is one of my favourites, like, ever. I love Jeremy Soule's music, particular from the Harry Potter games.

Also I really enjoy the entirety of the Wolf Children OST. The same could be applied to any Studio Ghibli movie

The King's Quest 2k15 OST is really pretty most of the time, too.

One more, then I'm done but I've always loved this song - I can't remember what the game itself was about but I could listen to this main menu theme for... hours. Just on repeat.

Oh you're asking for it.

There are others, but this list is getting long. Also, it's hard to find some music on youtube, I suggest you look up "All the Way" from Kino's Journey and "Yasashii Yoake" from .Hack//Sign .

The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise; from Sonic CD to Sonic Colors, no gaming soundtrack has endured the test of time so magnificently than Sega's own mascot franchise. Oh yeah, most of Sonic's games have sucked HARD, but even with these dismal failures the soundtracks from the games have ALMOST made it worth it.

Who knows, Sonic Boom might've been just a hair more tolerable if it had a decent score to it. Probably... maybe... theoretically... okay not likely.

Just... just go look them up!

Might not exactly fit everyone's definition of beautiful, but I can't leave out my boy Slayer since his themes are always ace.
Vid of the entirety of Saga Frontier 2's soundtrack. Wish I could go back and play this game again. Generally a fan of all of Masashi Hamauzu's musical work.

Well, my personal favorite is the acoustic version of the Lain opening. You're welcome.

I'm cheating with this one. It was used in Haruhi Suzimiya, but it's obviously much older. It's my favorite piece of music though, so tough.

Some incredibly powerful music from my childhood:

And finally these two gems

Maria's theme from the Bloodborne DLC might be my favorite tune from any video game ever. It combines so many elements about the character and the game: the tragedy of the hunters' downfall, the intensity of the madness they fall into, the desperation with which she guards the secrets of the nightmare, and the might she displays in the fight.

Dancer of the Boreal Valley from Dark Souls III has the most fitting music in the entire game. It's ethereal and otherworldly, just like the boss.

And just to beat a dead horse, the main theme from To the Moon.

For me, there is no more beautiful, and haunting soundtrack, than for The Fountain. It's this very intimate, and emotionally charged soundtrack, that perfectly conveys the feeling of the movie, and the story of love, death, and dealing with it. The last 2 songs especially always hit me. Playing this in the dark of night, just beautiful.

Kind of difficult to get anything better than NieR as far as video game soundtracks go. The game is absolute repetitive garbage, but the soundtrack kept me going through the entirety of my four playthroughs. It's simply that good.

Haikyuu's got a really good soundtrack. I like it for a lot of reasons, but the main one is that it's all super motivational. A personal favourite;
I like a lot of soundtracks that Yuuki Hayashi's been involved with. The Robotics;Notes and Classroom Crisis soundtracks are worth checking out if you like Haikyuu's.
