With the Tech-Team gone we can't put the BioWarrior forum on the drop down list so many don't know it exists. Here it is.

BioWarrior Forum

Because BioWare closed their forums the Escapist opened the BioWarrior Forum for discussions.

Any particular reason why they need their own dedicated subforum? Any particular reason why they can't just discuss their games in the normal gaming subforum where everyone else is?

I asked these questions back when that subforum was created, but never got any answers.

It's an utterly, shamelessly, blatant attempt to get more BioWare fans involved here at the Escapist now that BioWare has closed down their own forums. The hope is that a specifically designated playground will increase activity by collecting BioWare fans who feel at a loss with the loss of BioWare's said forums.

With the Tech-team gone we can't move forums around anymore.

I linked the forum because I'm a BioWare fan and I hope to get some activity there--which won't happen if folks don't even know it exists and/or have difficulty locating it. *sighs*

When I get the time I'll be starting a new thread on Dragon Age's developing mythology with speculations on what we could anticipate when they release Dragon Age IV.

Heh, appreciate the honesty. Yeah, I figured the same; basically a desperate attempt at poaching forum traffic from a site that's going offline.

Anyway, your efforts are very likely too little too late, as the Bioware forums shut down almost 6 months ago, and any regulars from that forum would have found other homes by now.

I know. I would like to have some interaction, though. Moreover Escapist threads about BioWare games show up on Google searches the same as GameFaqs and Reddit, etc, so we might actually get a small increase.

What are the chances of a techie returning to add it to the drop down and bring back the box on the front page?
Slim to none.

It goes beyond mere tech skills. The Escapist's system was custom built and the only ones who truly understand it were let go.

...

Nobody's happy about that. What matters is that we maintain our community. If we last long enough and strong enough then maybe, just maybe, DEFY will consider the Escapist worthy of sufficient investment to actually save.

Frankly I suggest everyone who loves the Escapist make a daily habit of clicking every single article, comic, etc...

It can only help and the lack of it WILL hurt...kinda like not voting in the US Presidential elections. o_O

What hurt the Biowarriors board was the inability to post in it for a short while.

People on the Bioware forum were scrambling for somewhere to continue talking, The Biowarriors board here was up but hadn't yet been enabled to allow anyone to post in it. By the time it had been enabled, long time Bioware forum members had created their own forums.

Seriously though, are there still people left with access to the Escapist's website's files?

Custom built or not, as long as one has access to the source code, getting to understand the workings of the site wouldn't be too hard a task, especially for a trivial matter such as adding a forum menu link to a menu.

I would volunteer for it, but I'm also very much aware that access, even if only read access, to those kinds of files would not likely be given to just any random forum member such as myself.
So even with my volunteering, it would probably end in a dead end.

Man, screw that! I haven't clicked on any of the Escapist's garbage articles in ages and that's not about to change soon. What you are suggesting is like trying to fight a tidal wave with a bucket. The Escapist management have been trying so hard to run this site into the ground there isn't anything us peons can do to stop it. The problem isn't that the Escapist isn't getting enough redirect traffic from Google, it's that it's possible to watch the Escapist main draw, Zero Punctuation, without ever even coming onto the Escapist. Heck, I can't even watch videos on the Escapist anymore for some reason, all I see is a 5 year old ad for a bunch of shows that are no longer hosted on the Escapist.

Unless you were talking about generating ad revenue. Which wouldn't matter either since almost everyone here is pub club now and doesn't see ads.

Also this site needs less subforums, not more. There is a serious drought of interesting threads here, the last thing we need is to split them among 15 different niche forums.

To a lot of us that doesn't matter as we were upgraded to premium status when the tech team left, we are not providing ad revenue to the Escapist, no matter how much we want to.

I find it somewhat scary that their website is running on code that no-one knows how to use.

What if something were to go wrong with the site. Would they be able to bring it back up?

Probably not. That's why a smart business ever gets rid of *all* of its technical staff until the day before they shut the doors permanently.

My guess is the people left here still keeping the place running are basically...
