At the moment the news is that he may have committed suicide and as a huge fan of Linkin Park and music in general. My thoughts and well wishes goes out to his family and friends and to all who loved him.

Your music and voice got me through tough times and mental illness can be a difficult thing to handle, speaking from my own experience. You will be missed.

I'm sad about this. I'm of an age where Linkin Park weren't cool the first time round, but on reflection I'm quite a fan.

I can't believe what's been done. He must have been so numb, because in the end, it didn't even matter.

Also, what soundtracks are sterotypical AMVs going to play with?

My brother texted me about this this morning. I'm kind of shocked. Not as much as I was when Chris Cornell died, but still this took me by surprise. It's a real shame because even if Linkin Park were winding down he still could have transitioned into acting. He didn't do a bad job in that last movie he was in.

In the end only he knew what he was going though and it's tragic that he couldn't alleviate the pain.

I guess his wounds they did not heal. He listened to the voice inside that's right beneath his skin, and this is how he fell.

I've literally been doing this all day.

Honestly, it's not that surprising considering most of Linkin Park's songs are about how life sucks and nothing matters.

Not one but two musicians I really like killed themselves recently?

What chances do I have?

Being told for the last 10 or so years that your music sucks dick, takes a toll i guess.
Yet Chad Kroeger from Nickelback keeps on kicking. I think he's putting out music just to spite people these days. At least he no longer looks like the Paddlepop Lion.

Chester sang at Chris Cornells funeral. Apparently they were good friends.

My thoughts are with the family.

That's sad. I kinda liked a few of their songs when they were popular in the early 2000's, even if the lyrics were bit whiny like a more 'rock' version of the Backstreey Boys. Though that was a pretty popular genre at the time.

They had that bunch of good songs on the first two albums, but I had given up on all the rest.

So the news coming in was that Chester and Chris were really close. Chester was godfather to Chris's son. And having had similar histories with child abuse, the two of them were their own support group. When Chris killed himself, Chester likely lost his anchor. He killed himself on Chris's birthday.

I was a hair too old to truly grow up around Linkin Park but I enjoyed listening to them develop as a band, to go from straight up screaming at the top of your lungs to something more melodic later on. They were maturing and I was looking forward to what they do next. It really is too bad that Chris Cornell literally drug his best friend down with him when he took his own life. This is what happens when people with serious mental problems don't get counseling. They turn their problems inward until it becomes unbearable and a singular event can utterly shatter their reality.

This is the first time that a celebrity's death actually made me sad.
Just by listening to his lyrics, I knew that he was struggling with depression but I didn't expect that.
The worst part is, if someone so successful who has friends and a loving family can lose to a mental illness, how can a nobody like me beat it?
