Apparently, today is National Cleavage Day, so for it, so Lionhead shared this image that was used for a tavern in Fable 2 [http://fable.wikia.com/wiki/The_Foaming_Jugs] with the message "Happy #NationalCleavageDay from all of us at Lionhead Studios!":

People then complained that the image was in poor taste, discriminatory, and insensitive due to how many women are depicted in games. Lionhead sent out another tweet stating how they don't discriminate, including an image of a man shown from the back with his butt bare [http://images.gameskinny.com/gameskinny/7f0892073cf8feb4509d4d16daf7085b.jpg]. Within an hour of both tweets, Lionhead took them down and tweeted "We apologise for the imagery we shared earlier. Diversity & inclusion are values we uphold here. We'll reinforce these values w/ our team. [https://twitter.com/LionheadStudios/status/581538642063036416]"

What's you guys take on this? Me, it's a whole lot of overreacting.

First, so what? People got angry. People will always get angry. I know that the internet, and especially Twitter, has given a very quick vehicle for feedback, particularly negative feedback, for society, but I don't think society has sped up to realizing they don't need to be inoffensive. People are allowed to be offended and have dissenting opinions and you don't need to, or rather can't, cater to everybody all the time.

Now, if/when this or something else is something that offends me, my response will be thus:

So what? Lionhead changed their approach. They received negative feedback and wanted to correct it. They're allowed to change their minds.

twitter is the internet equivalent of bad reviews when it comes to shit like this.
If someone stays at a hotel or eats at a restaurant and the service is anything short of extraordinary they won't say a word about it but the second something is not to their satisfaction they go and tell everyone.
with something like this 99% of people are just gonna look at it say "yup that's some cleavage" and move on with their lives so all you will ever hear is whiny little bitches complaining.

I think we're coming to a place where companies aren't allowed to have fun. plain and simple.

This.
I'm all for political correctness, but there's a limit and that limit is when simple comedy is turned into hate crimes.

Actually if you follow the hashtag, the amount of aggressive women posting pictures of themselves wearing any kind of shirt that completely obscures their cleavage at all with the statement of Happy #nationalcleavageday douchebags, is pretty ridiculous.

I value women for a lot more than their cleavage but even women I know can reasonably admit to finding other womens breasts attractive. I don't see a reason to get passive aggressive about it. I don't believe in God but I don't tell people to fuck off when they tell me Merry Christmas because of it.

I used to think 4chan was the asshole of the internet, but I'm beginning to believe Twitter is the "educated" equivalent of /pol these days.

It's the internet, what will the aimless drifters do all they if they can't get their monkey freak on over everything.
And sadly they have taken over everything gaming related so for the next decade I imagine this is simply a topic you don't bring up, or you go to great lengths to keep it outside monkey shit throwing range.

That's because of social anxiety. People are afraid to praise things because if they are "wrong" in praising them (for example, if they give a good review of a restaurant that other people find bad) it reflects badly on their taste. However, if they complain about something, then people who liked said thing are the ones who have to justify themselves and their tastes. This encourages staying silent when everything is good and complaining about every problem, because that is the pathway of the least social controversy.

As for the actual topic... Damn, this entire thing is dumb, starting from the fact that there exists a "national cleavage day". Seriously? Is there a "national ass day" and a "national ballsack day" too?
But whatever, if people want invent silly traditions like that, be my guest; but doing that when they know the current social climate on socmedia has been in a witch-hunt frenzy against anything "sexist" for years now? That's just asking for it, and the idiots on twitter are always happy to deliver.

Ugh. People are so uptight.

I don't like showing cleavage, and I cringe watching 'fan service' in anime, but I can still appreciate a joke.
What is wrong with people these days?

They freak out about trivialities, but meanwhile stuff with serious consequences all just gets swept under the carpet.

It's not about anything other than shock value anymore.

Yes, but kinda on both... and the formal also has a cousin holiday, which involves slapping a woman's ass... *in sarcastic tone* Classy, I know...

OT: A part of me is saying how it shouldn't have been a big deal... but, the human side of me is wondering why aren't the other holidays involving body parts not celebrated in the mainstream twitterverse as well... (Also, the first part of me missed out on showing my cleavage and is sad for some reason...)

Other than that, I have marked down the date for the "real name" to "National Ballsack Day" on my calendar because I'm sure me and the bros would just love love love to celebrate that holiday... in one particular location... with the lights flashing... and with One's raining from the sky...

Well, my response to the people who consistently feel the need to ruin everyone else's fun...

Find a fire and die in it.

Anywho!

Fable getting shit from these sorts is kind of hilarious, given its track record for being quite gender neutral in its presentation of what can charitably be called 'sexy' displays. Personally never found anything in fable remotely attractive or appealing so this is doubly ridiculous to me.

See, I have no qualms with that whatsoever.

Hop on that, folks. Or, rather, don't. It'd be quite painful.

I consider myself a feminist and I hate discrimination towards women or men but I'll be the first to say this is fucking stupid. It's a joke, boobs don't always have to be serious. People sure are idiots sometimes.

How is that "insensitive" and "discriminatory"?
That's like the tamest picture ever. What is even happening?

Man, this is the kind of shit that grinds my gears. It's this kind of thing that makes me and the majority of feminists look like humourless, over-sensitive, snappy, attention-seeking morons because they are most often the loudest.

Grr. It's a shame the company took the images down and apologised. Those kinds of Twitter warriors need to be stood up to more and be let known that their bullshit is not acceptable (from both feminist and non-feminists) - not get their asses kissed.
