I installed Pirates of the Burning Sea from the DVD. Then I went to patch it, and the game found it funny to download the entire client. Really slowly. It took a week.

I must be lucky then. My longest patch was 25 hours. 25 hours of sleep, work, and not PC gaming.

To get up to date patching on WOW right now would be.....irritating to say the least. But after the next expansion it should reset.

I think it depends mostly on how good your internet/settings are. WoW actually took, maybe and hour for me to install after a recent HD wipe, the patching process after that only took maybe 30mins, which is weird, because the individual patches on patch days usually take longer. Also, the pre-loader helps -alot-. It's buzy downloading while you're playing.

Longest? Hmm...I downloaded the City of Heroes/Villains Trial/Client, took a day and a half heh. I actually went to sleep and went to work that very day, it was only finished about a hour after I got home :D

Yea forgot about that one, all patches for city of heroes take FOREVER to download. Then when you have them for some reason it has to go through all of the COH data (several GB) with a fine tooth comb just to make sure the patch applied correctly. A process which takes an exceptionally unnecassary amount of time.

Dudes, Warhammer beta download, downloading the whole game via torrent took more than 48 hours! Thank god it took like 1 hour max when I finally received the discs for the live game...
Looking back on it i should have gone through the beta.

I decided to download it through fileplanet.... 6 hour queue for it... got close to downloading it and accidentally closed the browser... so i had to do it again and then came the download...ugh.

suffice to say i'm never doing that shit ever again.

That sounds like my story, except it took longer (I had a dialup connection! It was getting top speeds downloading of around 4 kbps! I am so glad I don't have to put up with that anymore....It was utter madness.....)
