I recently came into some money in Amazon gift cards, and I am buying a good quality microphone with it. I ended up with about $65 left over, and I'm considering getting a gaming mouse as I have been using a pretty cheap wireless for quite a while.

The mouse would have to be:
1. no more than $85
2. wired
3. some customizable buttons, but not an MMO-mouse (this is where simple comes in)
4. clicky mousewheel (sounds nitpicky, I know, but I can't stand mousewheels that scroll smoothly)
5. Not huge, but big enough that a hand can rest comfortably on it (It's uncomfortable to 'claw' it)
6. Durable, it should last for quite a while, but doesn't have to be indestructible.
7. If possible, quick sensitivity controls

I know this topic comes up a lot, but most of the recommendations I see are for either uber-complex MMO mice or ultra simple ones. That said, do any fellow Escapists have suggestions on this?

UPDATE:
I've been doing a lot of looking, and the Razer Deathadder 3500 [http://www.amazon.com/Razer-Deathadder-Precision-Infrared-RZ01-00151400-R3/dp/B002Q4U5DK/ref=zg_bs_402052011_1] seems like it may be a good choice. Can anyone who has this reccomend it? I generally try to stay away from Razer's products, but it's undeniable that they basically control the market.

I've been using Logitech logitech mx5XX series for years, I think MX518 is the latest one, not too sure. I have a bit of an outdated one and holy fuck, I love that mouse. It's pretty cheap, I've had mine for around 4 years of really hardcore usage and it's never bailed on me and it's over all awesome.

So I think that's the best option. And remember, razer gear is Gamers way of overcompensating.

I use the Death Adder, and I really like it, so I guess I recommend it.

the razer one that you were looking at in another post is very similar to the one i have (i have the red one that is bundled on new egg with the DA2 keyboard) and it works like a charm for me, fit nicely within a days use and hasn't let me down. i'm assuming they are very similar from the size/shape, and brand obviously, so just giving my input.

Hm, I've heard of the RAT series before, but was never too sure about them. I have a few concerns though, Is it comfortable? Also, is there any significant difference in the versions? Some people are also saying the sensor has issues. Are these problems in reality?

It looks pretty nice, how is it comfort-wise?

I use a MX Revolution for work, 3D CAD modeling, 8 hours a day. Never failed and doesn't put strain on my hand. Button mapping is quite easy and lot's of programmable buttons.
So yeah, 2 in favour for a Logitech.

saves you a Google search.

iv been using my Logitech MX518 for about 2 years and its fantastic and cheap. TBH i think if you go for anything gamer dedicated in the Logittech market i think you'll be fine.

The MX518 is very comfortable, responsive, a few dedicatable buttons (enough for the essentials but not MMO quantities) sensitivity controls. All good stuff.

Personally I am using the Razer Deathadder 3500, it is a decent mouse for gaming. Razor brand mouse's are pretty good and they come in a variety of styles depending on which ones you look at, and I think they come in some different colours.

1. (Should be less in most stores/online ordering than 85$)
2. (Totally is wired)
3. (I don't think ya can customize on the 3500 model)
4. (Totally is Clicky)
5. (It's decently comfortable)
6. (Durable enough that it'll last for quite awhile unless you toss it at a wall repeatedly)
7. (Totally has the quick sensitivity controls on 2 buttons so that you can adjust mid-game or when working)

Why do people think you need a special gaming mouse? Any 5 button mouse works fine. A DPI toggle is a nice touch, but not necessary.

Well, looking at all the suggestions it seems that a Logitech is probably my best bet (thanks guys!)

As for specifics, I'm considering either:
Logitech G500 [http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G500-Programmable-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B002J9GDXI/ref=pd_cp_e_2]
Logitech G400 [http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Optical-Gaming-High-Precision-910-002277/dp/B0055QZ216/ref=dp_ob_title_ce]
Logitech MX 518 [http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Performance-Optical-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B0007Z1M50/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1317583269&sr=1-1]

I'm leaning towards the G500, but it seems that all of them have some benefits of their own. Opinions on which of these to get? (Thanks again for the help guys)

It's not like I want one of the $150 penis-extension mice, I just want a mid-priced, servicable mouse that works well for gaming and normal use.

I made this same topic a couple of months back, and I was recommended the following mouse:

http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master...e=UTF8&qid=1314038558&sr=8-1&tag=vglnk-c21-20

I absolutely LOVE it.

It glides very smoothly on the cheap mousepad I have, it has 9 buttons (7 of which are programmable) the buttons are very customizable (and the software is fairly easy to use), and it can retain 3 different accounts, because it has internal memory, so you can have 3 different button configurations for different games that you can take with you if you want to plug the mouse into a different computer.

This mouse works wonderfully, is decently cheap for a gaming mouse, and looks great, I highly recommend it.

I'd agree with Bloedhoest; the MX Revolution is pretty versatile and quite comfortable. Mine's just died recently after almost six years of loyal services, and I've switched to a wireless laptop mouse from Microsoft.

I know, it's not gamer gear per se, but if sensitivity isn't that much of an issue, any cheap laptop mouse does the deal pretty well. It might be because I'm not exactly an FPS fiend, but I've never caught onto the Razer bandwagon. It just seems like overpriced gamer fodder to me.

Don't waste your money. Buy a good gaming keyboard, and just use a cheap 5 button mouse. It really doesn't make that much difference unless you wanna go MLG or something.

The Revolution seems pretty nice, but a bit too expensive, unfortunately. I'm pretty sure I agree with you about Razer, I think I'm settled on Logitech.

My main thing is that I need a new mouse anyway, and I'd like to treat myself a bit with some surplus funds. All the mice I'm considering at this point are under $60 anyway.
