Hi all until 6 months ago I was playing Anarchy Online rather a lot but the community has been dieing and it got to the point that when i was on there where not enough people around to get anything done. What I am looking for is a MMO with a good australian community between 5pm-12am +9:30 GMT.

The bits I enjoyed most about AO was the sci-fi setting and the twinking of armor. Can anyone suggest anything like this with a good community. I tryed WoW but found myself walking around alone 90% of the time which is not what I play a MMO for.

Guild Wars has a huge community here the States. I'm not sure about Australia, but it's playable alone too(and doesn't require monthly payments.)

Otherwise, there's always your go-to game for MMOs, World of Warcraft. Fun game, huge community, gets a lot of hate it doesn't deserve.

If you're looking for something more sci-fi, Star Trek online probably has a pretty good player base in Australia.

Just a few suggestions. /shrug

Guild Wars is a great game, you can probably pick it up pretty cheap these days. Its also got a sequel coming up which looks great.

There's a game coming out soon called Mortal Online. It's currently in open beta, so you can try it for free.

Them game is punishing though. Really quite hard. Extremely fun.

If you really enjoy a Scifi setting I would say Star Trek Online. I didn't like WOW all that much either so I started to play Star Trek Online and I'm hooked. It has a really great community also if thats your sort of thing. I'm part of Ion Fleet, so if you want to get into a community, drop me a PM and I'll contact our Fleet Commander, if you choose to play Star Trek Online. Here's our official site.

EVE Online. If you find yourself playing alone most of the time, you're doing it wrong. Be advised though, it has a steep learning curve (more like a cliff actually) and death hurts a lot more than most other MMOs -losing an expensive ship is a terrible feeling. Killing someone else's expensive ship however gives you one of the best feelings of accomplishment in any game.

It's not for everyone, so if that isn't to your liking I would also recommend Guild Wars. Been playing that seemingly forever...
