Looking for new headphones

I'm looking to pick up some new headphones on black Friday, but I don't know much about headphones and don't know what to get.

I'm looking for
-Over the ear headphones
-Under $100
-Built in pause/play button on cord to control audio for mp3 players/cellphones.

I mostly use my headphones at work for listening to podcasts and music. I have earbuds and they're ok, but I'd like something more comfortable and which will block more outside noise. My current headphones have a pause/play button and it's really useful since I get interrupted a lot, so that kind of functionality is essential to me.

Any help and advice would be appreciated.

Don't get Beats. Those suck. Brands you want to keep an eye on in that price class are Sennheiser, AKG, Audio Technica, Beyerdynamic and Shure.

Don't get Beats. Those suck. Brands you want to keep an eye on in that price class are Sennheiser, AKG, Audio Technica, Beyerdynamic and Shure.

I've had good experiences with Sennheiser. I mostly stick to the more entry-level HD202s and HD201s, but the sound quality is surprisingly good and to me (and my small ears) they're quite comfortable. Judging by reviews, things get better if you pay more.

They do, but with Sennheiser, the sky is the limit. They have some really high end models with an equally premium price.

Holy shit. I thought the limit was somewhere around $400.

But... yeah. $25 headphones are fine for poor little me. Plus, after three years of use, they're all nice and soft and the perfect shape just for me. Optimism!

I'm actually looking for a new pair myself. For jogging/working out. So one that goes over the ear, like with one of those hooks, goes into the ear with a bud, has a pause button on the chord somewhere, and is basically sweat resistant. Can't tell you the amount of times my ears have been shocked when sweat got into the grill. Stings like a bee and now mah beats are gonez!

Yeah, I already knew all that, I was looking more for advice on actual models to get, each of those brands makes a bunch of different headphones.

Not a fan of open back since I don't want other people hearing my music or excess sound leaking in. These also don't seem to have the kind of remote that I'm looking for.

Try Sony or Sennheisers. You know what, Philips are good too. Clear sound and loud and not too heavy on the bass. Loads of options out their for less than 100 dollars.

I found the V-Moda Crossfade LP2 yesterday and I think I'm in love enough with these headphones to go over my budget and spend an extra $50 on them.

I figure I can justify the extra cost to myself by also using them for gaming.

I'd recommend something with active noise cancelling.
I'm not sure what options you have at the <$100 level, but noise cancelling is more than worth it when meetings break out in the middle of the room and everyone is trying to talk over each-other while I'm just trying to focus and get my work done.

I've got two pairs that I alternate between:
Beyerdynamic DT-770 M : For when it's somewhat quiet; These are drummers headphones and at least have heavy passive padding
Bose QuietComfort 15 : When people decide to have heated discussions in the middle of the room

Though neither is <$100
