Seems that the FBI is finally catching up with LulzSec after their hacking of Sony and more recently Nintendo. Apparently one of the hackers in the group, Robert Cavanaugh, has already been found and arrested by the FBI.

All I have to say, whatever happens to this guy he completely deserves it. Now I just want to get some popcorn, sit back, and watch as the FBI starts bringing in the rest of these assholes one by one over the next few weeks and Sony reams them in the ass.

Totally. They deserve every minute of jailtime they get over it.
Why? Cause you couldn't play Socom for a couple days?

Didn't Sony sell PS3 touting their capability to run multiple operating systems (i.e. Linux) and then go back on that by removing functions and punishing it's users until they updated their PS3's to remove the capability to run other OS's?

Sounds like Sony should be punished....oh wait
More people are pissed off about the "millions of people put at risk for identity theft" thing rather than not being able to play games.
Regardless of what Sony did, when it affects that many people in that way, I think we're justified in thinking these guys deserve a harsh punishment.

That argument is old, half-truthed, and no longer relevant.

Geohotz's case is over. If it were up to me he'd be in jail too but that's not the point anymore.

The point is now there is a criminal group at large who feel they are above the law and are perfectly willing to abuse that sense of power for nefarious means like breaking into Sony's private databases to gain access to info they aren't allowed to and compromise that sensitive information. No company deserves that. To think that is immature and stupid.

Honestly I'm rooting for lulzsec. They are willing to show these people how poorly these companies defend themselves, which is needed.

Sony never did anything illegal. All they did was remove a people many people didn't use, and most of the ones who did abused. So scorn Sony if you want for that, but I don't for that, now the removal of backwards compatibility in their later PS3's I do somewhat scorn them for. And, I agree as well that these people deserve jail time in the very least.

I was under the impression LulzSec had nothing to do with PSN going down, they happened to be just part of the fray as Sony was being attacked at different levels by different people. They hacked Sony Entertainment's SQL database to steal members logins for their film service I thought, not PSN though.

They're not as capable as that; to get past the security necessary to take down PSN and steal all that data. The "hacking" of the Sony Entertainment service was embarassing comparitively because it only required a basic understanding of SQL, something they admitted (that it wasn't especially impressive).

And as captcha always says; thereby ciplab. Wise words captcha.

A company is supposed to protect that info... It's still partly Sony's fault don't give that "but anyone can be hacked" excuse if that was truly true why have defenses at all.
The fact of the matter is Sony has been slacking and is now being punished for it.

Its still a criminal act. Regardless of what Sony did, it does not give anyone the right hack them.

If you light your cheating ex's car on fire, you will be arrested for Arson.

For once, the FBI does something... WHEN IT IS NOT AT ALL A THREAT TO NATIONAL SECURITY. STOP focusing on petty hackers who spend their time hacking SONY of all companies, and START actually LOOKING for AL QUEIDA, who want to KILL US.

I don't blame the victim of crimes. It's like the "she was asking for it" defense of raping someone.

IMO the whole thought process of "Sony and their customers deserved this and brought it upon them" is just disgusting.

These. People. Are. Criminals. They look to exploit weaknesses they find in society with means that are harmful to everyone. Sony was slacking people say? Ok then. YOU develop a foolproof security system that could resist the concerted efforts of some of the dedicated criminals trying to get past it. It's not a bunch of 8 year olds guessing passwords here. The thing that people like to spread to hurt Sony's image is that these hackers could be blocked by anyone else and that they could do what they did with some Google research. Utter bullshit.

This is the face (or lack thereof) of organized crime in our day and age. Old pirates on the high seas, the Mafia... the only way this group ends up not in their ranks is that they can't kill anyone directly with their means. They are trying with all their might to ruin many peoples' lives though and for that they should all be imprisoned.
