Driving home today while listening to Bob and Tom and I heard something rather interesting when they where going through the news. Warner Bros. are trying to revive the Looney Toons franchise with a new show that is coming to Cartoon Network this fall (Which will have Bugs and Daffy as roommates), along with animated shorts of Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote to be played before the new Cats & Dogs Movie. After hearing this I of course was a little skeptical about the whole format of the new show seeming a little to much like a sitcom but I still hope this can bring the franchise back to greatness.

...Roommates? I'm afraid I must be skeptical, but if they can truly return to the routes of the lovely old Loony Toones, then fuck yes! This generation may not be completely lost yet!

Not a bad idea with the shorts, since that's where they started, but they're never going to be what they used to be. They should just stop dicking with them and let them be. Space Jam was the closest to their former glory as they're going to get.

I would hope that they don't bring it back. The original is still fine, and still really funny.

Well you may be right, with how long they have been around its going to be really hard to come up with new material that works.

Why can't they just show the old and nationally loved classic cartoons instead of trying to format them in a way to be "liked by the kiddies" of today?

Chuck Jones is dead. Why can't they let him rest in peace?

Post-NYTimes reading: Okay, I'm a little less paniked and now just mad. They can never cover the material that the original catoons covered (which regularly referenced alcohol, gambiling, smoking, and hoo-I mean-"loose women") because of the threat of lawsuit or parental retaliation.

Yeah, I totally can't wait for it. It'll be awesome, just like that Tom & Jerry movie where they talked, performed shitty musical numbers, and talked about how awesome it was that they were friends instead of doing interesting things. Thanks, WB. Thanks for spending the time and effort on reviving a property that stopepd being good a year before it died the FIRST time.

And by thanks, I mean **** you.

It won't be the same without it's rascist undertones...

In all seriousness, I am not amused.

Uh no. They had they're time. I'm sick of everything old being dredged up to modern day because people lack the damn creativity to make new things.

*cocks shotgun* You wanna run that by me one more time Warner Bros.
OT: Unless they get people who sound as similar to the original voice actors as possible and the writers are descendants of the original writers, its probably gonna suck.

It just won't be the same without Mel Blanc. Or Chuck Jones.

Can't we just let our childhood memories rest in piece?

If they were bringing back the old Loony Toons I would be ecstatic, but this... it just sounds too much like a sitcom, and I will cry if my childhood memories are reduced to that.

Great. Just fucking great. My childhood is starting to look like the kid I grew up down the street from who was an altar boy in the Boston archdiocese.
