Hello all,

As the thread title suggest, I'm looking into getting a gaming system. I've been using my current laptop to play several Steam games such as Civilization V, mostly on the lowest graphics settings possible, and even they chug after a while. Over the years I've built up quite the backlog, and would like to be able to actually play them. I'd like to see the Clouds over the map of Civ V. I'd like find out what Bioshock 1 is like (love to play Infinite too, but I realise expectations must be curved). Hell, I'd like to play a round of TF2 to see whether the one-frame-per-five-seconds is down to my laptop or connection.

However, I'm quite lethargic. I like to be able to lie back with my feet up whilst playing games. So, I would prefer a gaming laptop. Space is also an issue; there aren't many place wherein a desktop can go.

I'm also pretty technologically illiterate. I've no idea how many megabytes of this, or millilitres of that my current system is, let alone the specs of what I'd like to buy.

So, my Escapist consultants, recommendations? I'm willing to spent over £500 on this. Can you recommend me a good laptop? Should I overcome my laziness and buy a desktop? Think I should wait for the release of the Steambox?

P.S - Sorry if this question sounds ridiculous, but what would happen to my save games if I change laptops. I only ask because I'd like of all of my choices in TWD/TWAU to be kept if I change system. I take it they'd all be lost if I bought a new laptop?

At this price range you should be looking for one with AMD-A10 processor and graphics card. Something like this this. It shouldn't have trouble with CIV and TF2.
As for the saves I think they are stored to your steam account's cloud.
