Has anyone delt with lung cancer, either yourself or someone you know? I would like to know how bad they had it and what treatment they got and how they are now. My father just got diagnosed with it and I would like to know about other peoples experiences.

Thanks
Thanks to everyone that has commented so far. I'm keeping a video record of all this on my youtube channel. Check it out, let my dad know that people in the world care.

My grandfather died of lung cancer close to a year and half ago now.

I'm not entirely certain how bad it was, as I tried my best NOT to learn about it, but he received chemotherapy. He steadily became weaker over the course of two years and died in his sleep.

There are two different types of lung cancer: small cell and non small cell lung cancer. The latter can sometimes be dealt with surgery, but in both cases, you usually have to undergo chemotherapy and sometimes radiotherapy. Really, it all depends of the type of cancer, and how advanced it is. Of course, catching it early is always extra points on your side. The wiki page isn't half bad, and is pretty well-done.
I wish you and your father much courage for the months ahead.

My cousin had lung cancer a while back. She is doing much better now, and its still in relapse. I think she still has a little cancer though.

An aunt of mine had breast cancer. The treatment went alright (she lost all of her hair though) and she's sill alive.

I hope you mean remission not relapse! Do you know what stage cancer she had?

My dad's got stomach cancer. I know it's not the same thing, but thought I'd throw it out anyway.
They caught it pretty early, in January. He's nearly finished with chemotherapy already, and they should be doing surgery on it soon.
Don't know if it has to do with my dad being a pretty tough bloke, but neither the cancer or chemo affected him that much, apart from the odd sick day or food-swallow trouble.

Ya thats the thing with my dad, he's been smoking for 47 years. I'm really sorry to hear about your dad, at such a young age I'm sure it has shaped who you are today.

Generally... this.

I've had quite a few people I know die from cancers.

My grandfather had it something like 20 or 30 years ago and he's now in his 70's so, yeah, people pull through and live practically full lives. I say practically because now he's dying of alzheimers so... My best wishes to you and your loved one.

Yes, remission, sorry, big mistake on my part.

She was already in stage four when treatment started. Fortunately, she went into remission and is doing much better now.

That is awesome! I'm glad to hear that! So after chemo the cancer was small enough to do surgery, that will be good to know for my dad. They say that his is inoperable but maybe after treatment it will be small enough to remove! Thanks

Yes well it has.. but I like it.. and don't go and drink if death is the final result. For you must progress with your life in order to be there for the weaker and for the future of your family. I am only 14 yet I have grown up so much faster because of it.
