This thread is to the true metalheads of this forum, please endow us with your favorite metal band or song and tell us why : ) purist, traditional and modern metal are welcome.
oh, and id like to know why each of you is specifically selective towards metal...as in, why is it your favorite musical genre?

Lately iv discovered this band (Mechina) which rekindled my love for avant garde epic metal, they have this space age, futuristic atmosphere which goes oh so well with the fuckin brutality.
this vid says it all

Check out the band 'The Amenta'. They're a black metal band from sydney.

Also, Defective Trigger, they're metalcore and have 2 songs, but they're pretty good.

There is a lot of black metal on this which i can listen to i little bit but i guess i'm a pussy cause i can't really handle it. I like classic metal the most bands like iron maiden, metallica, motar head those sort of bands but i do enjoy other heavy metal like bullet and slipnot but i don't really get that heavy. I like iron maiden the most. I like them because of how tallented the whole band is and not just the lead guitarist. I like how the race at the beggining and the end but throught the middle they slow down. They constantly experementing with dinamics, tempo and key areas other bands fear of dwelling into. Metallica is proberly next on my list for all the soft finger picking songs and the drumming in the heavy songs.

Power/heavy/black metal works for me.

Iced Earth
Metallica
Kamelot
Nocturnal Rites
Manowar
Immortal
And my favourite: Iron Maiden.

Just to name a few.

80's hair metal.
Is not metal. Its just pop/rock attempting to capitalize on metal.
Oh... In that case I hate all metal.
*Gasp!* Kill the unbeliever, kill the heretic!

My interest in metal goes as far as 80's hair metal. Most modern metal just sounds like noise to me I'm afraid.

Also, endow means giving something as in literally giving something from one person to another.
i do mean literally give me metal songs and bands...and 80s hair metal doesnt belong here

I'm currently in LOVE with A Day to Remember. They're metalcore but I find that many of my heavy metal loving friends really like them too.

No you don't mean that at all. You mean tell you about songs and bands. I'd have to go out and find a band and hand them over to you in order to endow you with a band.

And yes it's been made clear that glam metal like Motley Crue, and Ozzy Osbourne isn't welcome here already.
giving "on the internet" means posting last time i checked, thank you for correcting me though...and i like ozzy, it just doesnt belong in here im afraid.

I don't think I'll ever decide if I love or hate the fact the Escapist has at least one very similar metal thread each week.

Probably Cynic or Gojira? Those two bands make up probably 50 or so percent of the metal I listen to recently. Recently I've been actually listening more heavily to other genres. Feelsgoodman.

If avant garde klezmer counts as metal, then http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-PlKlsOdZA

Cynic <3

Also this band you found, whoaaa.
Agreed on Cynic. I am far too excited for their new album. Yay for an awesome year of metal releases.

Thanks, I'm glad you're mind seems somewhat blown by the pure musical awesome I happened upon a while ago.
