M Night Shyamalan - Can he recover?

Now I've just watched Unbreakable and though it was a cracking film. I can see where things were done right and also where things may have been done wrong.

I have seen some other Shyamalan films and they were a mixed bag.

So going by my own experiences and general opinion I am curious - do people think that M Night can recover a level of 'goodness' in his films? Or has he fallen from a generally perceived level of decent film making?

I don't like writing directors (or any other type of artist) off, just because they've not been very good lately. Hell, I don't like writing someone off even if they were never good to begin with.

Things change, people can come back, people can improve. There may be a good movie, or a good performance, or a good song waiting down the line, and if there is, I wouldn't want anybody to quit before they get there.

I hope M Night manages to turn things around eventually, I can't say whether or not he's going to, but I sure hope so.
