M-rated games?

So Christmas is rolling around, good times, and me and my parents have finally struck a bargain regarding M-rated games. As long as my sister and brother aren't around I can play them (they're pretty young). There are still some restrictions, such as GTA or Manhunt, or anything else that is that excessive, but pretty much anything is game, unless they happen to say otherwise.

Now, I can ask for three more games for Christmas, and I already have a good amount to last me while my brother and sister are around (my brother's getting some games I would play anyway). So, I ask you, the Escapist, to help me decide what games to ask for. Note that I have already spoiled myself with Bioshock, and I'm the kind of person who that will ruin a game for.

I guess it would be nice to provide some of my preferences though.
- I have a PS3, 360, and Wii, so no limitations there. Although my PC is rather slow.
- I love RPGs. I love them to death. I'm usually a huge JRPG fan, but there aren't many M-rated JRPGs, so it's kinda pointless to list that here. Still love WRPGs by the way.
- Favorite games include Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy IV, Fallout (I snuck this one past my parents... shhh...), and Battlefield Bad Company.
- Shooters are good too, but they have to be different in some way. For example, I love Bad Company, but that has a sort of humor to it. Besides, conquest is an awesome game mode.
- I know people are gonna ask about difficulty since "Demon's Souls" is a big one for this, and I can handle it as long as the game is good, and doesn't spike in difficulty randomly. I like the Mega Mans, for example.

I already have the Halos as well, that was a sort of exception made beforehand. Can't think of anything else to say at the moment.

Hmm... Don't know what you have already but you can go with Mass effect, Dragon age, Fallout NV, Uncharted 2, Borderlands, Assassin creed III, Demon's souls. It's hard to give a good suggestion unless you're learning toward a certain genre more so then others.

If you don't already have the Mass Effects games, get those, also if you got Fallout 3, pick up New Vegas. Fable games are always fun for a laugh. That's all I can think of right now in my sleep deprived state

A big RPG fan. So out of that list Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Fallout, Demon's Souls, and maybe Borderlands would probably be the big ones.

Can you play PS2 games? If you can, get Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shin_Megami_Tensei_III:_Nocturne]. Or any other SMT game. Almost all of them are Rated M.

Edit: SMT games, with the exception of the Persona series are pretty hard to find. Your best bet is Amazon.

If you can play PS2 games than Persona 3 FES and Persona 4.

If not No more Heroes(Wii) is defiantly worth checking out as is The Darkness(360). Also the Rainbow 6 Vegas(PS3/360) game are damn fun. I really enjoyed them and I usually don't care for FPS. I think Last Rementant is Rated M and is good assuming you have an HD TV or else don't even bother.

The Fable games are good too, I don't know if they're M rated in America, but they're 16+ here (same as Halo) so they might be in that catagory. CoD MW1 is also fairly good, don't get me wrong it's a generic shooter but there's nothing really wrong with it.

Ask for the Orange box, Fallout 3 (Or New Vegas, if you already have 3), and Fable 3.

You'll get 7, count 'em, 7 games total.

The whole Fallout series, Fable 2 and 3, Borderlands, Mass Effect 1 and 2, The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, etc. There are a lot of really excellent RPGs out there.

But I only counted 3! What is this witchcraft?

To be honest, the Orange Box is fantastic. I bought it brand new when it first came out for like $60 and it was still one of the best deals I've ever gotten. If you like RPGs, you would probably like Dragon Age or Mass Effect.

Ummm, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West wasn't a bad game in my opinion and it was rated T, but I don't know how much you would enjoy it given your preference.

I can't recommend Fable III to you given that I haven't play it yet and I'm not a big fan of Molyneux (I respect the man and his works, but I just don't like his games)games.

And I'd also suggest getting a hold of Mass Effect 2 if you haven't already. That's probably one of my favorite games and your parents might not mind it given that that it only gets the rating due to the 'sex scene' at the end which can be skipped and even avoided if you prefer.

Forgot about the Persona games. I might have to ask for one of those.

Well, I'm not sure. Sexual content is what my parents are really concerned about, but if that's all there is, they might let me get it.

So, let's see, we have:
- Persona 3/4 (not sure which yet, I'll look into it)
- The Orange Box
- *insert RPG here*

My choices left are Mass Effect, Fallout 3/NV, Dragon Age, Borderlands, Oblivion, Demon's Souls... shit. I may have to cut out one of the above games. Doesn't the orange box suck on consoles or something?

Well, it's better on PC, but having bought it on both PC and Xbox, the Xbox version is in no sense bad.

Okay, but is it enough of a detriment that I should consider getting another game instead?

No, I don't think so. You may still want to see some other people's opinions first though.

I've just cracked into red dead redemption, which is actually pretty tame for an M rated game. (so far anyway, I'm pretty early in).
Not usually a big fan of western stuff, but I'd give it a thumbs up.
Also, the Mass Effect series is a must.
And Demon's Souls is good...you asked about spiking difficulty. It doesn't randomly spike in difficulty, it just spikes once at the beginning, then sits on top of the difficulty spike like it was a throne, and it points and laughs at you for the rest of the game.

Among those I'd prob go with Mass effect, Fallout NV as big RPG with good shooter elements, and dragon age goty for huge rpg, or demon's souls if you want to try the challenge while the online servers are still up. While mass effect and dragon age does have "sex" themes in it, it isn't anything graphic, pretty much a kiss and 5 sec dry hump if you bother to go that route. Demon's souls is rated M but it isn't really graphic, pretty much small amounts of blood and random dead bodies around the areas. Fallout might be one they won't like though. While it's a huge story with tons to do, there's a lot of cursing and implied themes, so it's one you'll prob have to play with the headphones on.
