You see a lot of threads on the Escapist (and everywhere across the internet) with titles like "Such-and-such sucks BECAUSE." The targets of these threads are almost always Triple-A titles that sold millions of copies--your Halos and Call of Dutys. Sometimes the criticism is legitimate, sometimes it isn't. Yet you rarely see threads praising these games. Still, people must like them, because they sell like hot cakes.
My question to you, Escapist, is what blockbuster, Triple-A title did you love? Just name the game and say why you liked it more than most mainstream releases.
For me, the game is Grand Theft Auto 4. There are numerous gameplay flaws and its sometimes repetitive, but I got really into the story. I love the way the game escalates over time. You start out driving around and being straight up bored. But by the end, you're involved with several mobs and gangs and are robbing banks and flying attack helicopters. Plus I think thats the only game I've ever played where moral choices are handled appropriately.
What do you think? Praise your own picks but try not to bring down other peoples'. Lets keep this thread happy.
