It's a conversation, talk normally, dammit! I know I never talked like that, but still got the point across that I cared.

Mine too. Any time I need to call her I hold the phone away from my head because when she answers she screams into the thing and nacks my ear.

I just turn on the old iPod and turn it up. Of course, Oscar Peterson isn't exactly effective on the "drown 'em out" front.
I do hate the cliched "no, you hang up" thing that can last for up to 10 minutes.
