Am I the only person who wants him to play the Joker in a live action adaption of The Dark Knight Returns? I thought it was an obvious choice, but everywhere that movie is rumored, people talk about Daniel Day Lewis or some other actor...

Have you seen Mark Hamill lately? The man hasn't aged well in the least, and really looks nothing like the Joker at all. The voice would be great, but other than that, he just isn't a fit.

...The Joker won't be in The Dark Knight Returns. Heath's dead, the absolute most we'll ever see of the joker again is a pass by callout, perhaps while walking through Arkem.

He wont be played by a new actor for any major role in the current franchise. This is fact

Nothing about him other than his voice is fitting for the Joker.
Which is probably why he's sticking to animated iterations.

I could definitely work, since both Batman and the Joker are pretty damn old in the Dark Knight Rises, Mark Hamill would actually be at the perfect age to look like the Joker.

On the other hand, Daniel Day Lewis is a fantastic actor, and I wouldn't mind seeing him play the Joker.

The Dark Knight Returns is a 4 issue comic book that they are planning to turn into a movie, the Dark Knight Rises is the current Christopher Nolan Batman movie that is in production. You're slightly confused.

To clarify, I'm talking about TDKR, the comic in which the characters are in their 50s or older, not the next film in the current franchise. In the graphic novel the characters look pretty different than usual (due to the age) so I think it would be a perfect opportunity for Mark to play the part.

Considering The Dark Knight Returns shows both Batman and the Joker in middle age (Batman comes out of retirement in it), I think that Mark Hamill's age and the fact that he looks like shit could only help him in the role.

Mark is only memorable as the voice of the Joker. On screen, I don't think he looks or could possibly play the role.

I had this idea that there could be a movie adaption of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. I know he's a little old for the part but I feel like Clint Eastwood would make a really badass Batman. But I think he's too old so they should find someone else. However, I feel that the best "Old" Joker would be played by none other than Jack Nicholson himself.

I LOVE Mark Hamill's voice as the joker, but I don't think he'd be right for the part. Plus, I think that he's finished with the role of the Joker after Arkham City comes out. Very sad day for voice acting but we'll get over it.

By the law of the universe, Mark Hamill is not allowed in a film that will make more money annually than a paper round.

Whoops! You are correct sir, thank you for enlightening me. Title looked very similar to Nolan's film and I wasnt aware of the comic book. Had a brain fart.

To say somthing actually related to this though, Mark Hamill has said he's done with the Joker completely. He was actually planning on finishing with Arkem Asylem but caved in to do Arkem City for his last Joker role.

Daniel Day Lewis is far to picky to play the Joker though I think. He pretty much picks his projects himself, and he only does a movie every four years or so. His next film will be Oscar bait.
