Martial Arts and fighting styles are a big area of interest for me, guess i'm just naturally violent.

Anyway I thought i'd see if anyone here learns any form of fighting, wether it be self defense, competitive or even military.

So does anyone here do any martial arts, or just any form of combat training. If not what styles interest you and why?

Personally at the moment i do Jiu jitsu, (traditional style), i've been doing it for about 3 years and am currently at brown belt. I don't particularly like it but i just don't want to quit when i'm so close to black.
I've also been doing kung fu for a few months, i much prefer this because it suites my prefered style more, plus looks alot better.
But before that i'd done kickboxing to Green belt, and a bit of Muay thai.

I took Karate for a while when I was younger but ended up quitting. I'm still pretty interested in them, so I would like to get back into martial arts when I get the time and money.

Personally I'd actually like to take Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I'm naturally more talented and comfortable close in controlling positions and movement rather than striking from a distance. I'm also naturally flexible and have managed to pull off several submission moves I taught myself in fights I've had with people just for fun (not trying to actually hurt each other).

Been doing martial arts for 10 years
2nd degree Tang Soo Do
3rd degree Haidong Gumdo
Red Belt Taekwondo
I've loved every moment of it, but it wasn't up until the last 2 years that I learned any practical self defense (on my own).

I learnt Hapkido for a bit, but unfortunately had to quit due to needing time for school work, although I am planning on taking up Praying Mantis Kung Fu when I move up to Brisbane later this year.

I personally prefer Striking techniques, i'm quite tall so i have a greater range, especially with kicks, head kicks are pretty easy for me.
Being tall does make Things like throws a little harder, as in i have to go lower, but the advantage to that is hat i can basically drop them from higher causing more damge, so it's a two way street.

Just out of interst i'd really like to get into Ninjitsu, just cause it's Frickin Awesome.

I should also point out that Kung fu is a very general term.
the way i understand it, the chinese used the term kung fu to describe pretty much anything that people to which requires use of body and mind, with Wushu being a sub catagory to describe fighting styles.
I do Lau Gar Kung Fu, which involves alot of shorthand techniques, whicha are pretty cool.

Black in two styles of karate (Wado-Ryu/ Shito-Kai) as well as some informal kung-fu (Wing-chun and tiger claw), which I believe to be the superior style(s).

I've been doing Vovinam for about 2 months, before I did mixed martial arts (Zendo-kai, Muay Thai and Kickboxing). Vovinam is similar to Muay Thai in some respects, and it;s very acrobatic and tiring at times :D

I used to take Tae Kwan Do when I was younger to stay in shape but I had to quit when my family moved. I found it to be fun and mostly practical and if I could I would love to get back into it again.

I did Tae-Kwon-Do for a couple of years, but it was shit. Not the martial art itself, but the instructors, the lack of drive or force and the fact that doing it once a week was a joke if we were actually trying to learn, all seriously put me off.

I've done Rhee Taekwondo for about 7 years and am a junior black belt.

It's a lot different to regular taekwondo.

I did Tae Kwon Do for three years, but never really got into it. I felt like I learned more on my own.
Did Judo for a year to get in shape and as a sport and it was really fun. Hard to convert into effective self defence as it's more for sport these days than anythig. However, it was good fun and great training.
Might take up Ju Jutsu or Aikido.

I've never done a martial art (my father was afraid I'd hurt my siblings), but I'd prefer a grappling art to take advantage of my rather short stature (5'09") and a weapon based art like kenjutsu or renaissance fencing.
