Okay, so I'm like 1000 years late to this party, but I just beat ME3. I got the ending spoiled for me during the height of the controversy so I knew what I was getting into. I loved the series too much to just leave it unfinished, but if I was going to complete it I was at least going to get the best ending possible. So I started the final mission, had all the leg work done and was horrified when I got just about the worst ending possible. I realized later that my War Assets were halved because I didn't play multi-player first and this made my score too low to get a decent conclusion.

I just about burst a blood vessel in my eye. So, fellow escapists, I'm looking for things to remind me of the good times throughout the Mass Effect series. Funny stories, screen shots, whatever you got. Please share.

The good part starts at :38

Assuming I have not made you sad due to Mordin's part in Mass Effect 3, this is the perfect reminder for why Mass Effect is awesome.

Barring that...

If humor has failed, we can try this: I liked the original ending. You have my permission to lash out all of your hatred in my general direction (just be careful not to break the CoC).

Then you didn't play with the Extended Cut.

The EC made it so all endings were possible, without playing any multiplayer.
This.

I mean, I know the EC is kind of annoying to download and everything, but really. More than a year overdue, man. No excuse.

OT:

Remember when you first went into the store on the Citadel and discovered Fornax? Yeah.

Remember when you google image searched for Fornax, thinking that it would be some treasure trove, only to find that it was three poorly drawn images wedged between walls of text and artist credits? Yeah.

Oh gawd, there's so many. Here's one that should be fresh in your mind though, just about made me fall out of my chair laughing the first time I saw it:

Plus yeah, install the Extended Cut and it'll solve your bad endings problem - just knock off a few side quests here and there and you should have more than enough without having to play multiplayer. If you've got time though the multiplayer is worth having a go at, last I checked it was still getting reasonable traffic too.

The Citadel DLC. Probably my favorite quote is from Mordin's message:

"Had broken Omega's one rule. In more ways than one." Bad Mordin >:)

Curing the Genophage was one of the series' best moments, in my opinion. You get to save an entire race from extinction and give them a second chance in the galactic community, and you do it while killing a Reaper with a Thresher Maw. Awesome.

I think nearly anything with Garrus or Wrex.

They were without a doubt, my two favourite characters. Garrus because he took a level in badass and another in human.

Wrex because he was born a level 100 badass.

Ultimately the story fizzled and did not live up to the hype, but the characters most certainly did.

I CARED about what happened to them - I felt pretty emotional during the goodbye just before you meet the space/computer/child/ghost thing when I said goodbye to Garrus and thought about all of the hours I had poured into that game (many play throughs).

Also, being an adept in the first game was the most boss thing ever - seriously you could singularity a geth (the big white ones), then lift, then throw and the thing was destroyed. Awesome, made you feel truly powerful.

Get a hold of the Citadel expansion, then treat that as the true ending, it's much better.

Also, the (free) extended cut ending unties the multi player from the single player, so you can get a good ending without grinding away at horde mode.

Those were really good, that last one especially =')

Anyway, as others have said, downloading the EC will let you get the 'best' ending no problem. You'd have to replay the last hour or so but probably worth it to see all the shiny new cutscenes. (although it doesn't fix everything, it's still better than the original)

I always liked this bit of dialogue

Damn I wanna replay ME now..

There are so many. Mordin's Gilbert and Sullivan mentioned earlier, the Geth/Quarian pay-off in three, the Illusive man in general and then Legion. Godsdammit I loved that character.

Baddassfully: dammit

Ilium's Blue Rose. Need I say more?

I think that one bit is the only piece of NPC side-story that has ever made me tear up in any game ever. Ever.

I was late to play ME3 too. Finished it about two nights ago.

Started ME1 with a completely new Shepard, and did a marathon of all three games. Despite what others make think about the ending, I liked it. Installed the EC dlc way before I finished the game, so I can't comment on the original state of the ending.

Absolutely love Mass Effect, and now that it's over I don't know what to do with myself.

I miss Tali.

What's a paladin?

funny how it's mostly RPG's that do this, but maybe they simply have more things to fuck up in the first place. <.<

Kinda leaves those of us who are unable to download it or play online in the lurch though doesn't it?
I suppose so, but the fact that it exists and that it fixes several problems shouldn't be discounted.

If ever there was an example of a games firm totally betraying it's fanbase ME3 was it.
Hey, this is a thread for appreciating Mass Effect. Take your bandwagoning elsewhere.

Really, look at it: Mass Effect had a dev cycle of probably about five or six years. ME2 had a dev cycle of about three years. ME3 had a dev cycle of about two years. It's no wonder that it didn't live up to expectations completely, but it's remarkable that it was as good as it was.
