I'm aware of the slew of Mass Effect threads that have flooded the Escapist threads. Despite this there is something I wish to discuss before all relevance is lost. The Keepers. A race of bug like alien's who have occupied the Citadel before even the Asuri found it. They maintain and help control the citadel. Once you figure out who built the Citadel this gets a bit creepy. They're not husks, and show no signs of indoctrination. Despite this they are actively keeping a massive portal for the reapers running.

The reapers also don't seem to see the Keepers as a threat. During the final mission, get all the final mission "Urrgghhs" out of your system, you can see keepers still on the citadel. On the citadel and surrounded by piles of human corpses. How is no one else a bit freaked out by this. The Game even suggest that the Keepers are up to something. The Codex mentions that when a Keeper dies, another appears. It's suggested that these new Keepers come from the very core of the Citadel. The core being the Catalyst, the Catalyst being in control of the reapers.

Barely strung together conspiracy theory aside, what do you think about the Keepers.

Play ME1, they explain that the Reapers control the Keepers and have them open the Citadel Relay to dark space to call the Reaper fleet. The Protheans changed the Keepers' programming so they no longer follow the Reapers. That's why Sovereign attacked the Citadel in ME1.
