As someone who loved ME3 Biotic Charge, that would had sucked big time for me. Keep them coming, Bioware! Make that price tag worth it!

That's nice.

Unfortunately we still have to deal with the utter drab of boring, run-of-the-mill characters, and sub-standard writing.

What the hell does that even mean?

"Added option to skip autopilot sequences in the galaxy map"

Thank fucking god! Can the next patch give the players the option to fire everyone involved in that not being in the game in the first place?

Thank the flying spaghetti monster for that. It made using the galaxy map so tedious for me that I wouldn't bother checking other worlds unless I had to.

Edit: Dammit. The patch isn't out until Thursday which means I can't play the game with the option enabled for around another week. Honestly, I think I am going to wait until then.

I think it means that they're going to maybe polish the UI? Some of the crates and attacks don't always have consistent hitboxes. Especially with the big boss-lites.

As for the sequences, I seem to remember people, including devs themselves, saying they were loading screens being masked like with the elevators in ME1...guess they were full of shit, though I'm trying to figure out why I'm so surprised.

Yeah I'd buy that and be absolutely OK with it if that's what they were there for... like the trams between locations on the Nexus / Hyperion. But these are in spots where there's no real loading to do, on the galaxy map.

If they can fix all the things they've listed, I might consider actually buying the game, but I remain skeptical about their ability to bring the game up to an acceptable state.

I wanted to buy it for the combat gameplay, but the more I see of it I don't understand what everyone is praising. The enemies seem way more bullet-spongey than usual.

The irony is that some of the writing in regards to Liam is actually really good, his loyalty mission being the prime example. My Ryder is romancing him and prior to one of the story missions there was a genuinely well-written pre-mission banter between Liam and Ryder, where he cracks jokes about their "first date" and how Ryder is a repeatedly falling angel, to which Ryder snarked back and shoved him playfully. It stood out because it felt genuine, even more so because a lot of the other interactions in the game are so poor.

Honestly... they are. I loved ME2-3 on insanity, the balance was really good and the challenge felt fair, it was really tactical and about skill usage. But the change to both the combat and the leveling system forced them to just make the enemy bullet sponge. Because the player can make all kind of combination and that they can't actually use there teammate ability anymore they had to severely limit the number of enemy with armor/shield, now most enemy are just big health bar with no weakness to exploit. For example right now I need to unload most of my shotgun clip into a basic enemy to take him out (so 6+7 bullet) and stronger trash mob will require at least two clips. The bigger enemy can usually eat my entire shotgun ammo (which is boosted with a mod) so I have to find ammo box mid fight. It all feel a lot more basic and the open world also cause problem where you sometime fight enemy in spot where you can get swarmed (5-10 enemy) very quickly and find yourself without cover, on the flip side it's very easy to exploit the environment to screw with the enemy so that they can't reach you.

The basic system is honestly pretty good, but they made too many bad decision during development. Balance is also very poor, sniper absolutely dominate to the point that no other weapon type feel useful, if you want an assault rifle, your better off grabbing a fast firing sniper (another problem of letting players decide how they want to create there character), and playing as a pure class (i.e. just soldier, biotic or tech) doesn't really work as you quickly max out what you can realistically use and you either have to branch out or spend point on ability you'll never use.

Yet those madmen refuse to accept their destiny and won't become the world's first AAA dating sim developers their fanbase desperately wants them to be.

I'm still holding off buying until the next patch (unless I cave). Seems like they're making some genuine improvements, at least, so that bodes well.

I have Elite to play in the meantime, so I have some - ahem - real galactic exploration to do...

I think that this is the big stuff, the most vital stuff, they wanted to fix. And that any other patches will be small stuff and tweaks for multiplayer.
