The human name is, of course, the Milky Way. But what about in the other alien cultures? I've been looking around the forums and the internet in general to see if any mention of what the other council (and non-council) species named the galaxy we inhabit. Couldn't really find anything. Anybody out there have an idea or a theory?

It's not just the galaxy. Look at the name of EVERY SINGLE SYSTEM. It's a human name for each, even in the Terminus Systems. For example, Ilium, the massive Asari city-world, is another name for Troy.

That might have some in-universe explanation in the way of the translator, which seems to be an implant that basically everyone has that converts alien languages into your native language.

I would assume that the Asari name for Illium is something else, but the translator VI searches for human parallels based on history, language, etc., and selects Illium.
