[HEADING=1]Welcome to Omega.[/HEADING]

[HEADING=1]IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN JOINING, LISTEN UP.[/HEADING]

First off, DO NOT post in this thread if you are interested in joining. Instead, PM me, Chicago Ted, the GM, that you are interested.

[HEADING=1]IF YOU POST IN THIS THREAD, YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE DENIED, NO IFs, ANDs, OR BUTs. INSTEAD PM IT TO ME.[/HEADING]

Now that that's out of the way, let's get on track.

This is a continuation from an RP made in March of last year that ended in September. The RP centred around the Aegis Protection Firm, a mercenary organization that worked out of Omega. However, due to the upset in power that Arch-Angel caused, much of Omega's power has shifted. Three of the largest mercenary organizations present on Omega, The Blue Suns, Eclipse, and Blood Pack, were subsequently defeated, and forced off of Omega. Because of this, Omega is in a constant power struggle at the moment, with several different gangs and mercenary factions fighting for control and power on Omega.

This is the concept for the RP. If you are interested in joining us, please either PM me for more information, or check out our old thread first:

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/362.182635-Mass-Effect-RP-The-Aegis-Protection-Firm?page=1

The description above is an extreme synopsis of what has happened in the RP, and is the shortest I could cut down to from 50 pages. The RP will focus on our company expanding across Omega and gaining power and wealth as we go.

Again, if you are interested, PM me and I'll see if we have the room. We are currently taking three people, but this may change depending on how many applications and interest we have since we already have several players waiting for this to start.

And in case you're wondering, underneath in the following posts, I will be working on getting the information posted for the RP. Mostly things like character sheets and such. The reason I will have bumped this 5 times isn't for attention though, but instead to evenly divide the posts because last time we ran out of room.

Name: Marcus "Raven" Flint

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Age: 39

Appearance: Short Black Hair with beard, numerous facial scars. Wears red and black armor with Raven logo along the back. Armor is damaged and dented in numerous place from gunfire.

Class: Vanguard

Subclass: Nemesis

Powers: Lift, Throw, Barrier, Charge, and Nova

Pre-Service Record:
Born into a planet on the fringe of citadel space, Marcus lived a normal life until the age of 8 when he was exposed to dusted eezo from a shipping accident. Enabling his biotic ability, he was conscripted into the biotic academy at Jump Zero at the age of 10. Surviving the intense mental and physical conditioning that came with being a biotic, Marcus joined the Alliance at 17, faking his age to ensure his early enlistment. Fast tracked through the military because of his biotic ability, he reached the rank of captain at 21 and joined Alliance Black Ops at 22, taking on numerous missions with his squad until the incident that caused him to leave the Alliance. What was to be a simple mission to eliminate the head of a terrorist cell turned into a FUBAR when his commanding officer ordered the death of the civilians in the surrounding area for supposedly aiding the cell. Unable to reconcile the order, Marcus went rouge during the crossfire and vanished into the vast expanse of space.

Once in the outreaches of Council Space, he took the only career path that was available to him and became a mercenary, working back and forth between the Terminus and on rare occasions within Council Space. After two years into his mercenary career, the Citadel took an interest in the company that Raven was a part of. Assigning a Spectre to handle the situation, they were confident that the situation would be resolved.

The Spectre eventually found Marcus and the company on a human colony at the edge of their space. They had a long drawn out fight, each taking many blows. After eliminating most of the company, the Spectre finally gained the upper hand on Marcus, but fortune wasn?t in their favor. A damaged gas line to the building they were in exploded, causing the building to collapse. When he came to, Marcus was the only one able to pull himself from the rubble. Looking back he couldn?t see the Spectre. He stumbled towards a local hospital, and demanded at gun point that the doctors help him. After some brief surgery, closing up of most of his wounds, and enough painkillers to numb almost every sense Marcus had, he fled to the spaceport. He had no idea where to go, but when he saw a cargo ship that was listed as on the way to the Terminus System, he managed to stow away there, and escape Council Space.

Arriving within the Terminus, he found work partnering with a Drell Assassin and adopted the moniker "Raven" in an effort to leave his past behind him. Together they were able to forge a prosperous mercenary group known as the Crimson Wraiths. For several years, life was good for him until the members of his group got greedy and arranged for their two leaders to be removed from their positions. Upon returning to base, he found his best friend dying and the people he had trained out for his blood. Going blind with rage, he massacred the members that had remained on base over the course of several days, satisfied that his friend had been avenged, he burned the base to the ground and gave his friends body to the deep.

Once more on the run, he moved to Omega and took up work with the Aegis Protection Firm.

Psychological Profile:
The events of his life have left Marcus very protective of the men under his command and as such he will go as far as required to protect their lives. He is ruthless in his work and quite efficient at closing his contracts.

Notes:
Marcus is wanted for the murder of an Asari Matriarch, the death of the council Spectre sent to kill him, and the remnants of the Crimson Wraiths.

He is proficient in the use of explosives, sniper rifles, shotguns, and heavy weapons as well as his biotics.

Additionally he carries a large bowie knife with him.

Name: Sal'rena Nar Hadran

Gender: Female

Race: Quarian

Age: 23

Appearance: She stands at 155cm wears a Dark red and white environmental suit.

Class: Infiltrator

Sub-Class: Agent

Powers: Incinerate, Invisibility cloak, Sabotage, Disruptor Ammo.

Pre-Service Record:
Sal'rena lived the average life of a Quarian aboard the fleet military ship Hadran. She learned combat from the ship's captain along with the rest of the Quarian youth on the ship and learned her love of technology from her parents. When she reached the age of her pilgrimage, she left knowing she may not return. She loved her family and her race but she could not see returning any time soon. A week after leaving the fleet, Sal'rena found herself on Omega, applying for a merc position in one of the local companies.

Psychological Profile:
Sal'rena was the quiet one of her age group. She believes that every sentient being in the universe no matter how big or small, no matter their position, deserves respect. This has led her into more than her fair share of scraps since she left the fleet.

Notes:
Sal'rena's weapons are an M-3 Predator, a M-9 Tempest, and a M-97 Viper. As well as her mothers omni-tool.

Name: Ethan "Paladin" Edwards

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Age: 32

Appearance: Ethan stands at about six feet tall. He has brown hair and blue eyes. He's handsome, but not extraordinarily so. He has a light, trimmed goatee and usually a five o'clock shadow. There is a small scar from a knife on his right cheek, and a large burn scar on his back. He has a tattoo onto his left shoulder of a chess knight.

Class: Sentinel

Subclass: Guardian

Powers: Throw, Warp, Power Armor, Overload

Weapons: M-5 Phalanx, Kassa Locust, M-29 Incisor, a few small knives and a large Hunting knife

Pre-Service Record:
Ethan grew up on a large ranch on the colony Demeter; he enlisted into the Alliance military at 17. In boot camp he earned distinctions for marksmanship and close quarters combat, but was nearly drummed out on insubordination and for accidentally killing a captain?s dog, instead he was recruited onto a Corsair ship crewed almost entirely by former Alliance personnel. The more relaxed structure suited him, and he rose to lieutenant after a few months. He went AWOL after killing the ship's captain while witnessing him raping then murdering an Asari prisoner and about to rape her daughter, Ashala. He rescued the girl and over the next decade, raised her as his own child.

A few days of travel later, he did a job for the Quarian flotilla. He was asked to go down to the surface of a planet that emitted a natural EMP, to find the crew that had gone down to investigate it for habitation. When he landed he was able to declare salvage rights on the wrecked ships, including an old Alliance Corvette from before the first contact war, which the Quarians repaired to pristine condition in exchange for those salvage rights. During the repair time he met and fell in love with a Quarian, Lienne Askeri Vas Onteese, who agreed to stay with him for her pilgrimage.

He floated across the Terminus with his "family" for the next decade as a gun for hire and hired hand, taking some jobs that needed a gun and some that didn?t. Eventually news reached him that he was acquitted for the killing of his superior officer. Since a trial would risk the Captain's wrong-doing being revealed, he was instead recorded as dishonorably discharged instead of AWOL.

About a decade after he ran from the corsairs, he worked as a bodyguard for an Asari diplomat who adopted his Asari "daughter" Ashala. An unfortunately short time later, Lienne was killed by a bounty hunter that was tracking Ethan. He spent the next year in a miasma of depression before signing on with Aegis. The only thing that kept him from killing himself in the first few weeks was that connection he kept with Ashala, her contact helped to keep him sane.

Psychological Profile:
Despite Ethan's months in the military and hardship in the terminus, he retains a sense of romantic idealism.

He tends to soliloquize and has the bad habit of occasionally talking too much about nothing in particular.

He spent a great deal of time mourning the loss of the girl he loved, and he's begun using casual sex as a means to fill that gap and convince himself it's not there, although he's not at all prepared to accept deeper feelings or a relationship.

His upbringing gave him a moral sense that his subsequent service has made flexible, but still much more robust than most others in his profession, and its flexibility makes him unpredictable. Although he is unlikely to condone theft, rape, cold-blooded murder, and slavery (his time in the terminus has shown him the distinction between indentured servitude and slavery).

Even though she lives on the Citadel, he's fiercely protective of Ashala, and he would drop everything if she were in danger.

Notes:
He remains a person in good standing with the Quarian flotilla, due to his conduct during his mission and his part in getting them a half dozen new ships.

His M-29 rifle has been modified to fire single shots as well as the standard 3-shot bursts.

His ship, the Lienne, formerly the Anthony Wayne, is a small Alliance Corvette, repaired by the Quarians. As such, and in consideration for Lienne, it contains a clean room.

Name: Bargon Dregger

Gender: Male

Race: Krogan

Age: 397

Appearance:

I don?t have photoshop so just imagine that armor Krogan Heavy Mercenary Armor (look it up on the wiki) and that the red is Aegis orange.

Class: Vanguard

Subclass: Krogan Battle-Master

Powers: Shockwave, incendiary ammo, Concussive Shot, throw

Weapons: ML-77 Missile Launcher, M-12 Locust (sub-machinegun), M-22 Eviscerator (Shotgun)

Pre-Service Record:
Dregger has been nick-named "Dregger the Jackhammer" or just "Jackhammer" for his history of single handedly digging in and holding positions from waves of enemies. He has killed more people than he can count and has no trouble sleeping. He has been know to argue with his superiors but is never severely punished because he is so dang valuable. He is always the guy that is sent when you need to hold a position or break through one. He is the juggernaut and he likes it. He requested to be sent to Omega for the challenge and now he is just hoping he was right. One of the reasons he has a notable reputation is that he has been known to occasionally just go rouge or refuse to put up with his employer any longer and go AWOL if he feels his employer is not worthy of his services or if he is not getting sent into the fight enough.

Psychological Profile:
Like all Krogan, he enjoys battle and that is specifically why he took up life as a mercenary. If you are good at something, never do it for free. Dregger has earned himself enough money to live 2 lifetimes but keeps fighting for the thrill. He doesn't get a "blood high" or anything like that, he just wants to see if there is someone out there who can kill him. Ever since he was very young he has been driven by this inner need to find a worthy opponent. It is what drove him away from his home world and into this life. His constant thirst for combat has led him to a state of emotional detachment. He doesn't see the value of connections with other people because his entire life is driven by the search for one through battle. This leads him to have bad manners and a temper. If he doesn?t like you he will say it to your face regardless of your rank. The one way his "co-workers" have found to gain his trust is to prove their combat abilities to him. This is what causes so many arguments between him and his superiors: He finds them weak and will usually defy orders that take him away from the front lines. As previously mentioned this makes him a wild card for any employer that takes him. He has had several "partners" that have earned his respect before but in this business it is hard to keep up with old friends so he doesn't really have any long term connections either. His life seems to blur together into a mess of battle and training with the only things that stand out to him being the times he found someone almost good enough. This life-style is what led him to his mental and emotional state.

Notes:
He doesn't care about race politics

Ironically he is infamous among "Respectable" Krogan because of his dismissal of formal ceremonies and traditions as useless busywork.

While he is no Commander Shepard, his name is well known among mercenaries

Name: David Thomas Rahl

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Age: 30

Appearance: 6 foot tall,170 lbs, grey eyes, and an ever present 5 o'clock shadow. He has long black hair usually kept tied in a ponytail. His off-duty attire consists of black boots, tan cargo pants, and a dark red long sleeved shirt. If necessary he'll wear a mid-length brown coat. David wears capacitor type light armor, with an Umbra visor. He has a tattoo on the left side of his chest reading: "Remember Shanxi"

Class: Adept

Subclass: Bastion

Powers: Throw, Singularity, Pull, Shockwave

Weapons: M-6 Carnifex, M-13 Typhoon, two 5" double edged knifes worn on the inside of the forearms for use in hand-to-hand fighting, or thrown (with a biotic boost) for silent take downs. L3-R Biotic implant.

The manual folding stock was a custom addition by David, to help control the recoil.

The Typhoon was introduced as a "submachine gun that hits like an assault rifle", and meant as direct competition to the M-12 Locust. Unfortunately to produce the power wanted, the manufacturer had to forgo the usual folding capabilities. This lead to a bulky weapon, with high recoil, and an average rate of fire; while it was turned down by most military and security firms, it has become popular with independent operators due to its robust nature.

Pre-Service Record:
Born on Shanxi; David was exposed to extremely high levels of Eezo as an infant when a transport loaded with the element in dust form crashed near his house. After showing high biotic potential as a young child he was entered into the program at the Grissom Academy to help him use and understand his abilities.

After leaving the Academy, he broke with family tradition, instead of joining the military he became a mercenary, where his talents where much more profitable. Since then he's never looked back, taking pretty much any job so long as the pay was right. While he has worked for some of the better known mercenary companies, he prefers to work for the smaller firms.

As he bases himself out of Omega, he keeps a small apartment near the main port facility.

Psychological Profile:
David's family was part of the original groups of colonist, with a long standing history of service in the Alliance military. His grandfather was a lieutenant in the colonial garrison during the First Contact War, and harbored a deep resentment towards Turians long after the fighting had ended. This was due to a number of his men, and, in one tragic incident, a large portion of his extended family, being killed when the Turians began their orbital bombardments. Growing up listening to his grandfathers stories, David has developed a distinct dislike for Turians, but not outright hatred. He'll work with them, but he isn't necessarily civil to them.

Despite what the Academy tried to instill in David, his morals are fairly flexible, allowing him to accept jobs that others may turn down. He does however draw the line at outright slavery. While not a cruel person by nature, he has no qualms about using lethal force to end a conflict.

Notes:
Occasionally uses a combination of Minagen X3 and Red Sand in small dose as a 'pick me up'.

Name: Mordecai Knox

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Age: 25

Appearance: Caucasian, Burly-6'5 300 lbs, Long black hair, bright green eyes, semi-long beard, small scar that looks like claw marks.

Class: Soldier

Subclass: Commando

Powers: Inferno Ammo, Concussive Shot, Inferno Grenade, Adrenaline Rush

Pre-Service Record:
Knox was among many of Earth's many unfortunates. After being abandoned early in his life, Knox was left to fend for himself as another nameless street urchin. After a few years, he was picked up by social services and placed in a foster home. Before the first week was even over with them, things were falling apart and after a month, he had already been removed from the home and placed in a juvenile detention facility due to his attitude and actions.

After his release, and placement in a new home, Knox fled. He had decided that the time he had spent on his own were far better then those that he had been watched over for. Within a few months, he had already been fully integrated into a local gang. He spent years running with numerous criminal outfits, and found an unmatched thrill in the chaos of it all. Simple delinquency soon turned worse as he continued with the lifestyle. Petty vandalism soon turned into breaking and entering, which later turned into a string of arson that brought a great deal of attention from authorities.

Realizing that the longer he stayed, the more likely he was to be caught and incarcerated, Knox gathered as much money as he could to put as much distance between himself and home. For a couple more years, he lived as a drifter. He could usually only afford short range tickets, ones that would take him to the next system or major colony. From there he would find whatever work he could regardless of legality, so he could keep going forward. He eventually managed to make his way to the rim of the Terminus System, and recently, Omega. From here, he found work with local clubs and bars. There was almost always a need for more muscle amongst them. Eventually he found his way into the employment of Oleene, and into the Elixir.

Psychological Profile:
At first he may seem cold and distant, he will be fiercely loyal and a good friend. He can get easily frustrated if things don't go his way, but will warm up to any idea. He prefers to be more bold in his actions, ready to charge into a fight within a moments notice with others behind him, but has learned through time and experience that sometimes a solid plan and good direction could get him a lot further then simply running with his own two feet.

Name: Preven Sellezal

Gender: Male

Race: Turian

Age: 28

Appearance: Slightly taller then average, but also thinner then the average. brown skin.

Class: Engineer

Sub-Class: Mechanic

Powers: Hacking, Overload, Incinerate, Combat drone

Pre-Service Record:
Trained as a techie during his service in the Turian military, Preven rarely saw any actual conflict, usually being just one of the many who repaired the many damaged machines. After his service ended, Preven ended up getting hired by Devlon Industries to repair automated manufacturing machines, but was soon scapegoated when several pieces of equipment went missing. To avoid all the trouble of trying to get a job after that, he moved to a place were that kind of stuff doesn't matter: Omega.

Psychological Profile:
Because of getting screwed over by a company forcing him to move to the craphole that is Omega, Preven became somewhat pessimistic. To cope with this, Preven attempted to lose himself in his job,Attempting to intimidate those who he deems are "disruptive" with varying levels of success.

Notes:
Owns a used M-3 Predator pistol, bought shortly after coming to Omega for his own protection during his job. After a rather lucky shot, Preven has also procured the use of an M-97 Viper.

Name: Serina Salius

Race: Asari

Age: 218

Class: Sentinel

Powers: Overload, Warp, Tech Armor, Cryo Blast

Appearance: Her skin is a dark teal, dark green in some places as an effect of her Salarian father. Two thin half-moon facial markings outside of her eyes, give her the illusion of wearing glasses in the right lighting.

Record:
She was born on Illium, her Mother was an Asari merchant, and her Father was a retired Salarian STG operative, who used to tell her stories of his prouder, non-classified, moments working for the Salarian government. When she was 10 he died at the venerable age of 42, but she held onto her memories of him and she worked with her mother in their import/export venture for the following 80 years.

When she was 83, she found a hidden omni-tool inside his desk, detailing all his contacts as well as several caches of equipment, though why he kept it so well hidden she is trying to find answers to. She spent the next thirty years collecting and gathering the resources she would need to venture off on her own, shooting at targets she purchased from a weapon shop a few dozen meters from their own warehouse, training with commando applicants, etc. Just when she had gathered all her supplies and all she needed was a ship willing to take her to Omega to meet the closest contact her father's files spoke highly of, a Krogan by the name of Thrash, her mother's business tanked and she was left with little more than the secret compartment in the back of the warehouse filled with her father's equipment, forcing her to sneak in to get it, killing a few street toughs to get out alive.

Two years later she set off on her own, first going to Omega and finding that Thrash was dead as well as most of her father's old contacts. In the meantime she did what she could to get by, mostly stripping in Afterlife, after two months she was driven off Omega by the Eclipse group after a member of theirs had too much to drink and got a bit too handsy for her liking, he ended up with a busted face and half-blind in one eye. She had been fired from this and a bad history, without the protection of working in Aria's club she decided the best thing to do would be to flee Omega.

After the "Omega incident", as she calls it, she signed on with multiple merc one-shots, a few quick get-in-get-out operations near the border of Geth space, provided a distraction for some Turian Spectre, more than a few merchant ship raids, and the assassination of several minor political figures during a trade agreement between the Council and Humans, following first contact.

Her most terrifying experience is an attack on a planet by Cerberus renegades she was hiding out on with her fellow mercs recuperating after a particularly hard fight on board a human mining vessel. The Humans had created some kind of device dropped on their compound. Which, within two days, called the local Thresher Maws to attack and destroy the fortress. She spent two days in the rubble attempting to not move with two others, Ryncol, a Salarian whose nickname was never completely explained. She and a Turian by the name of Garen was the only other confirmed survivor. Ryncol took the device and took the Thresher Maws away from the compound, allowing them to get away in one of the ships they?d come planetside in. Since his sacrifice, she's had even more respect for Salarians then before. She's still looking for any word of him, though, since she's heard his name mentioned in the darker corners of the galaxy, a Salarian hunting Cerberus operatives where he finds them, and leaving them on display as a warning. She doesn't have any proof that he's still alive, but she likes to think so.

She eventually circled back around to Omega and since she had been gone for approximately a hundred years, her name buried under the century and a change in under-leadership allowing her to pass without much hassle.

Psych Profile:
With the exception of Humans, she respects the species of the galaxy. Batarians are good at what they do, despite being hated by the council, Salarians she holds the highest respect for, She's found that even most Krogan are deeper than what the stereotype makes them out to be.

She continues to train with her "biotic sticks" she received early in her self-training, to pass the time ,a dozen sticks, each one a specific weight to represent her control and focus over her biotics. It's little more than a simple game for her, but the few biotics she has met and liked, she's allowed into the game. She normally has at three with her most of the time, if someone else joins in, she increases the amount to six or nine, the one person she has played with that she was forced to use the entire set with was interestingly a young Krogan by the name of Ren during one of her early stints around Geth Space. She keeps in contact with him from time to time(a message every six months or so), last she'd heard he was somewhere deep in the Terminus Systems, body guarding some big-time Batarian crime lord.

She's still a bit jarred by the Thresher Maw incident. She holds a deep-seated grudge and hatred for not just Cerberus but the Alliance as well, since they had first been a covert branch of research and development before breaking off and going their own way.

She enjoys haggling over pretty much anything, from artifacts to cheap little doo-dads. It helps her return to another life she knows she can never go back to completely, but the idea of it helps her cope with some things.

She knows her place in a combat situation and thoroughly enjoys it. The game of disabling an opponent was always infinitely more fun than the actual kill to her.

She prefers to keep people alive, a way of life she took from a saying her father used to tell her, that an owned life was much more profitable than a dead enemy. As a result, the few true enemies she has are much more afraid of what they have to lose with her death than what they have to gain.

The way she indicates that you will soon owe her is that she places a small lick on the cheek of her victim, dry and completely un-affectionate in every way possible.

Notes:
experienced haggler, can guess close to the exact price of a product to within a few dozen credits, be it a weapon, tool, armor, ship part or piece of software.

She is somewhat experienced in weapon modifications and ship maintenance, not enough to do it all herself, but she knows her way around ship systems enough that she can assist an expert without too much explanation. Or do simple modifications to small arms,

Name: Narath Merkan

Gender: Male

Race: Salarian

Age: 19

Appearance: Narath has a normal Salarian physique and build and is neither tall nor short for a Salarian. He has dark green skin, splotched with darker grey patches, and purple eyes.

Class: Engineer

Subclass: Demolisher

Powers: Overload, Incinerate, Cryo Blast, Combat Drone

Pre-Service Record:
Narath was born to a clan which was noteworthy only for its tenacity in following ideal of the "Wheel of Life." This, coupled with the immense pressure from his family to make a noteworthy name for himself to increase the bargaining power for the family, instilled Narath with a strong drive to improve himself. So, in a logical move, he got himself an education. After getting a degree in physics (focusing on thermodynamics) and chemistry, Narath moved to the criminal cesspool of Omega. While for most this would hardly be a logical jump, to Narath it made perfect sense. The large population of criminals on Omega would give him a plethora of opportunities to test his equipment in real battle on real individuals. His intent was to work on new tech weapons, hopefully ones that would catch on, earning himself a name, and his family a powerful bargaining chip in breeding contracts. After a year or so of working on his own, Narath felt confident in his own combat abilities to work his way into a merc group. Luckily, the Aegis organization was kind enough to offer him employment.

Psychological Profile:
Narath is an individual whose actions are governed by two main forces. One is his belief in the Salarian Wheel of Life. Because of that faith, Narath believes there is a time and place for everything, and should be strictly separated. Work, play, research, testing, action, diplomacy, each has a time and a place to be dominant. If these distinctions are not made, then life becomes wasteful and squandered.

The second main point of Narath's personality is his drive for improvement. Everywhere he goes, Narath searches for inspiration which, as he is keen to say, can come from literally anywhere. This high standard that he's set for himself has also been cause for him to spend hours upon hours in his research, sometimes forgetting meals, sleep, and breaks. Narath does, of course, recognize that his first loyalty must be to Aegis.

As for interpersonal relations, Narath keeps a strictly detached and aloof nature about himself. For him, life is a job, one rotation of the Wheel, and in this life, he must help his family. That being said, he won't refuse any conversations, and is never rude or insulting.

Name: Galus Talid

Gender: Male

Race: Turian

Age: 36

Appearance: Grayish-brown scales, White colonial markings that form what looks like a handlebar mustache, as noted by a drunk human. He wears medium grade armor that's dark blue.

Class: Soldier

Powers: Proximity mines, Flashbang Grenades Disruptor rounds, Concussive shot,

Pre-Service Record:
Born on the Turian colony Invictus to a family of former C-sec officers, it has always been destined for Galus to continue the family tradition. Growing up in a life of relative ease, Galus began boot camp at the age 15 and became a part of the colonie?s police force a year later. Three year later, after being the main driving force behind the closure of a major drug ring, Galus was invited to join C-Sec. At first, he was hesitant but after pressure from his family, eventually accepted.

After working half a year in the Presidium as an Enforcement officer, Galus began dating an Asari named Aleena, who was working as bartender in the Flux night club. They eventually married and had a child together. Galus, eventually promoted to Special Response, kept up a routine for 15 more years satisfied, with his life. That is, until Saren attacked the Citadel. Galus spent the battle escorting civilians to emergency shelter, fighting off Geth and Krogan. After the battle, Galus discovered that Aleena died while protecting their daughter.

Devastated, Galus sent his daughter to live with his family on Invictus and left for Omega to get away from it all. There, Galus spent most of his time and credits in dive bars, getting in fights with the locals and losing money in sport bets.

After a year of wallowing in self-pity, Galus' sister managed to track him down in his apartment on Omega. She began telling him that he needed to accept what has happened and return home. Galus explained to her that he can't return and be responsible for anyone in his state of mind. After his sister left the space station and having several hours to think, Galus decided that he was done with his mourning. Unable to return to his job in C-Sec due to his premature departure, he needed to get a source of income. Unwilling to move back to the Citadel, bad memories, nor return to Invictus to face his judgemental family. After sobered up, Galus started working in the private sector for the next two years. He had a good gig working with a company called the Ender Corporation on Omega for the next two years. With Ender, he provided security for rich tourist, escorted diplomats and the eradication of pirates or hostile aliens. After the hostile takeover of Ender Corp by the Blue Suns, Galus found himself out of a job. Still quarter of a million credits short to live comfortably on the Asari home planet of Thessia, applied for a position within the Aegis Protection Firm.

Psychological Profile:
Once upon a time, Galus used to be friendly enough, but after the Battle of the Citadel, he has become an introvert. When forced to interact with the general public, he tends to be openly hostile towards everyone except the Asari. Despite being ex-Csec, his actions are still heavily defined to his 15 year career as an officer of the law. Willing to "push" a subject to get any info he needs, Galus is against torture and outright murder of innocents and prisoners. He will go out of his way to protect civilians.

Notes:
Uses a heavily modified M-15 Vindicator.

Daughter is a 15 year old Asari

Name: Kyra "L'Artiste" Artiser

Gender: Female

Race: Human

Age: 24

Appearance: 5'6" tall, 128 pounds. She has blue eyes, lightly tanned skin, and chestnut hair. She has several bullet wounds across her torso, along with some minor scars from fighting.

Class: Soldier

Powers: Adrenalin Rush, Combat Mastery, Concussive Shot (commando), and Incendiary Ammo

Pre-Service Record:
Born on Elysium to French parents, both of whom died when she was fairly young. Due to a series of misfortunes, she ended up on the street, having to steal what she needed to survive. She quickly learned how to defend herself, and never backed down from a fight, unless she had no chance of winning.

Kyra joined the Alliance Military at the age of 17, mainly to try to find a better life for herself. She rapidly proved that she was adept at combat, and quickly learned the basics of weapon handling and tactics. Her training sergeant gave her callsign, due to the fact that he saw her as an artist with rifles, and the targets were her canvas. She slightly favors the sniper rifle, but is almost as good with assault rifles. She uses her pistol as a last ditch defensive weapon, preferring long range engagements to short range.

She left the military after a mission she was on went wrong. Her squadmates were killed, she had taken 3 rounds in the chest, and the higher-ups decided to pin the failure on her, dishonorably discharging her. No enemy troops remained standing after the battle, but that hadn't mattered to them. After 7 years of service, they got rid of her because they needed someone to blame. Kyra made a full recovery, and headed out to Omega in the hopes of finding work as a mercenary. She ended up getting a job with the Aegis Protection firm shortly after her arrival.

Psychological Profile:
She is a loner, due to having no one else to rely on but herself for much of her early life. Not one to engage in extended conversations, she takes a long time to get to know, but will prove to be a valuable friend once you do.

As she grew up on the street, Kyra is always on the edge of alertness, a habit that she still hasn't been able to kick, and that serving in the military has actually reinforced. This makes a lot of people see her as jumpy or paranoid, and maybe they're right.

Due to the incident that got her booted from the military, Kyra is a little bit insubordinate until she starts to trust her CO, but once she does, she obeys orders with little difficulty. This doesn't mean that she stops thinking for herself, however. She expects everyone on the team to do their part, and gets along fine with them unless they don't.

Notes:
Weapons of choice are an M-15 Vindicator, the M-97 Viper, and the M-5 Phalanx. She does not use heavy weapons due to a preference for speed and agility over firepower. She wears light Colossus armor, painted black and orange as per company policy.

Verahl

Name: Verahl
Gender: Male
Race: Batarian
Age: 48
Appearance: Verahl has a dark and light brown complexion, common amongst most Batarians, with his face taking a lighter tone then the rest of his head. A small car does extend across his right cheek, but isn't too noticeable. His armor is decorated black and orange, with a decal of their logo on both of his shoulders.
Class: Soldier
Powers: Armor Piercing Ammo, Adrenaline Rush, Disrupter Ammo, Combat Mastery (Commando)
Pre-Service Record:
Verahl has been working as a mercenary since he was 19. He has spent most of these years with several different mercenary groups, including the Blue Suns. He had work as a slaver in his mid twenties, and often tries to not mention it in conversation and tries to change topics when confronted about it.
Psychological Profile:
Verahl is a tactician. He thinks every move through thoroughly before committing to it. Because of this careful and strategic planning, Verahl rarely makes a mistake and leads his company quite well. He mostly uses words to get what he wants but is not afraid to use a gun to help the process. He is afraid and troubled by little anymore after nearly three decades of work. He believes he's seen almost every kind of scum bag this universe has to offer and is hardly affected anymore because of it. He is not known to laugh, but does have a decent sense of humour and irony. However, he hates taking attitude from anyone, and often comes down hard on anyone who directly disobeys his orders or talks back.
Notes: Verahl wears heavy grey and orange armor, with the company emblem decorating his right shoulder. He carries a M-76 Revenant, M-27 Scimitar, and an M-6 Hand Cannon and occasionally a ML-77 Missile Launcher or a M-451 Firestorm when the situation permits.

Rendol Lux

Name: ?Rendol Lux
Gender: Male
Race: Krogan
Age: 384
Appearance: Pale orange skin, with a dark red, almost black, crest. He wears black armor with an orange stripe down the centre, and the company emblem painted on the back.
Concept: Demo/Heavy Weapons Expert
Notes: Lux grew up on Tuchanka, where he fought with his brothers in the Rendol Clan. After years of what he saw as pointless wars between clans, he left his clan and joined up with the Blood Pack Mercenaries. He served with them for a few years, but quit after he saw what it was really like. Most Krogan in the Blood Pack he thought were old and lazy, simply instructing large numbers of Vorcha into battle instead of leading them and fighting. There was no glory to be gained fighting with them, and so he started working as an independent mercenary for roughly fifty years. He worked as a bodyguard normally, or was hired by other mercenary companies as a temporary member.
While working in Omega, he met a Batarian named Verahl, who at the time, was interested in starting a mercenary company. Verahl and Lux soon started up a small partnership, working together with a few other mercenaries on more high profile jobs. Eventually, Verahl created Aegis, and asked Lux and a few others to sign on. Lux thought about it for a few days, trying to decide whether or not it was time to go back into true mercenary work. After much deliberation, he signed on with Verahl and Aegis Company, and has been working with them since.

Esten Valack

Name: Esten Valack
Gender: Male
Race: Salarian
Age: 24
Appearance:
Concept: Sniper
Notes: Worked with STG for a number of years as a sniper and assassin. He claims that he?s tied with a number of high profile assassinations and killings but because of STG?s performance, he?d be unable to prove anything. Rumors have been circulating around the company as to the reason why he left. He is younger then most retired Salarian soldiers and the rumors say he was either dishonorably discharged or that he deserted. He denies both, but refuses to go into any more detail about his time with them.
He is mostly quiet and tends to keep to himself; however, he has been heard talking to himself several times both in and out of combat. Has a very cold voice, showing almost no emotion as he speaks. He will do anything in his power to accomplish a mission, and often look back on his actions with no remorse. He's also a bit sadistic, often finding more calm in combat as opposed to the rest of his life. He is never seen without some form of a weapon on him.

Karnak Dal'Perah

Name: Karnak Dal?Perah
Gender: Male
Race: Batarian
Age: 28
Appearance: He wears a rather heavy armor with the company colours on it. He has a complexion of brownish-green.
Concept: Mercenary
Notes: Karnak has served as both a member of the Batarian Military, as well as a pirate. He has a good amount of combat experience and knows how to handle himself in most situations he encounters. He prefers to fight with an assault rifle or a shotgun, however he does know how to use both sniper rifles and heavy weapons when required.
Karnak is rather quiet and tends to keep to himself. He?ll normally have a conversation when approached, but generally doesn?t go out of his way to have constant interaction with other members of the company. He does however open up more if invited to go somewhere with others, such as to a bar or club, and does become social once he?s warmed up to. He does however harbor deep prejudice towards some company members. He tends to regard Turians and Salarians as fine species, and is indifferent towards Quarians and Asari. He holds very low views of Humans, and Volus. His views of Krogan are highly mixed, often changing from individual to individual. While he might come to respect one that shows intelligence and strength, he would not view them the same as one that showed brutality and savagery. However, he still sees a Batarian as superior to all. He keeps most of this to himself however, and tries to avoid contact with those he has judgments against in order to allow the company to keep running rather professionally. However, he will generally react quite hostile towards them if pressed or annoyed.

Yossar Terreg

Name: Yossar Terreg
Race: Turian
Gender: Male
Age: 40
Appearance: He stands at 6'2" tall, and is fairly lanky for a Turian. His face is considered fairly attractive by Turian standards, with green eyes and reddish brown scales, his face paint starts with two white lines above his eyes that broaden as they move out then and then split, one line turning up with a sharp angle and continuing along the head flanges, the other turning down more gently and ending in points on his cheeks. His two center head flanges are missing, cut with a knife half way up.
Class: Adept
Powers: Throw, Pull, Warp, and Shock wave
Pre-Service Record:
Grew up on Palaven, his father was a merchant, his mother was a "Lifer" in the military. Entered the military when he was 15 like most Turians, against his father's wishes who wanted to use connections to keep him out. Spent two years in basic until his biotic powers manifested from there he was transferred into Biotics training. In biotics he quickly excelled past his peers despite having a late start, a feat that assured the development of a cocky ego. After training he began his tour of duty, which would take him throughout Citadel and Terminus space for the most part operating as a part of Cabals. During this time his superiors remarked that he was a perfect soldier, competent, never refused or questioned orders, always eager to fight. The most personally important mission he was on was Mehin, which he lead at age 35, an operation to clear out Quarian squatters turned terrorists who were assaulting a settlement outpost. The mission was a disaster. Intelligence had reported there would be not anti-aircraft weaponry but as soon as their ships hit atmosphere AA batteries shot them out of the sky. Yossar was the only one to survive the barrage and subsequent crash. Command listed him MIA, most likely KIA, and abandoned him. For two years Yossar fought to survive on what turned out to be one of the most viscous garden planets in Citadel space. Eventually he was seen by a survey probe, and then picked up. After Mehin Yossar continued to serve in the army but his attitude seemed to take a dramatic change. While he always carried out orders he never failed to question his CO afterwards about the necessity of the order. Overtime he grew dissatisfied with life in the military, at 39 he applied and received and honorable discharge and left for the Terminus systems soon afterwards.

Psychological Profile:
A Turian soldier to the core, Yossar will never hesitate to carry out an order that is given to him whatever it is. However if he disagrees with an order he will also never hesitate to ask his superior why it was given, mostly so that he can clear his own conscience. That's the way Yossar is, initially he seems like a stone cold killer, but upon further inspection it's easily seen that he does care about things. Yossar also gas a habit of testing people, he rarely asks forward questions, rather he will give people unrelated question or tests and then judge them on their answers, a habit which has been criticized several times. Ever since Mehin Yossar has been one for thinking outside of the box, tending to improvise when he can.

Brooks Noland

Name: Brooks Noland

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Age: 26

Appearance:

Out of uniform, Brooks wouldn?t look out of place in one of the several clubs or bars around Omega. He let his hair grow longer than most of the others in the company in the back and sides that goes down just past his ears, but has kept the front short in order for it not to get in his way. Normally out of armour, he wears dark, loose fitting pants with a brown jacket that still bears the logo of Liberty?s Harvest on its sleeve.
Concept: Colonial Mercenary

Powers:

Pre-Service Record:
Brooks grew up on the colony of Liberty's Harvest, near the edge of the Terminus System in Alliance Space. Harvest was an agricultural colony, centred on supplying several of the nearby colonies and worlds with food that would be unable to grow without expensive and insufficient farming methods.

The community that Brooks lived in was close knit and small. He grew up with his older brother, Alex, and his two cousins, Madison and Lisa. His father died in his youth in an accident, leading to Alex and Lisa to take up working to help support everyone.

A few years later, when Brooks was 19, there was an attack on the colony. A thresher maw spore had made it to the planet a few years prior, and had been able to grow without discovery. Eventually, the colonists found the young maw, but it was already too late. The maw killed several of the colonists before the garrison of Alliance soldiers could have reacted. The Alliance soldiers weren't enough to kill it though. Security had been long lacking on the colony, and several of the soldiers had not received proper training or weapons. These lackluster recruits were not able to kill the maw and fled to the safety of the bunkers of the colony and attempted to hold out with the colonists. This lead to many more of the colonists who were unable to get to safety in time to be killed by the Maw, including Brook's Uncle and cousin Lisa.

Hours later, an Alliance cruiser was able to make it to the colony, and the maw was defeated. Several of the soldiers were discharged as a result of this. The damage was done to Brooks though. Before he had planned on joining the Alliance Military in order to leave Harvest even though he disliked several of their policies, but due to the severity and lack of action regarding the attack, Brooks rejected the Alliance and decided to leave for the Terminus Systems. Most of his family felt the same way, leading to several of them leaving.
Within the next few weeks, Brooks left with Alex, Madison, and his mother for the Terminus Systems. Alex eventually found himself on another agricultural colony, while Brooks and Madison both arrived on Omega. Madison started working in clinics and hospitals, and is currently working on being recognized as a doctor, despite her lack of formal education. Brooks instead started working as a bodyguard for wealthier businessmen, afraid to do business on Omega alone.

Psychological Profile:

Brooks is normally friendly but can often become rowdy easily. He's almost always up for a competition or wager to prove himself and isn't above cheating in order to guarantee a victory. He is also very bold, and will normally be willing to try something incredibly risky if it promises results.

Esten shows contempt towards Brooks due to his lack of discipline and forwardness. Lux also gets easily annoyed by his attitude, having once lost a bet with him, then having it revealed to be rigged from the start so there was little chance of him winning.

Equipment:

Brooks joined Aegis, and had been able to provide his own weapons and armour. The armour is different from several of the others worn by Aegis. The armour has several motorized joints built into it, increasing the physical strength and capabilities of Brooks. These benefits however come at the drawback of having less plating, focusing most of it on the joints in order to protect them.

Rook

Name: Rook
Gender: Male
Race: Turian
Appearance: Rook lacks the facial markings most Turians hold. His skin has a reddish brown hue.
Pre-Service Record:
Rook was born on Illium, but was put up for adoption before his first birthday. He spent his first few years in an orphanage, before he started to display characteristics of a Biotic. Shortly after his powers started to show, a wealthy Asari Matriarch had him brought to her attention, and had him adopted into her care. Immediately he was put into a regiment of schooling and training to develop both his mental prowess and his Biotic capabilities.
After several years of training and schooling, the Matriarch judged him as capable. Her goal had been to turn him into an ideal body guard for her, and he had been crafted into one. Unfortunately for her, it seemed that Rook had other plans, as he escaped her guard in his early twenties, on a ship bound for the Citadel. On the Citadel, Rook put his skills to immediate use, finding several contracts for personal security from several diplomats and merchants on the station. However, his high profile contracts lead to much attention being paid to him, and ultimately, creating a trail large enough for the Matriarch to find. This discovery forced him to flee once more, deciding that he'd resort to the Terminus Systems, and away from the Matriarch's circle of contacts. Within the year, Rook found his way onto Omega, and into the service of Omega.
Psychological Profile:
Rook is generally very friendly and approachable. He loves to reminisce and hear stories from others of their exploits and accomplishments, but also enjoys to brag about his own.

Lee Se-Hong

Name: Lee Se-Hong
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Age: 27
Appearance:
Lee weighs in at 170 pounds and stands at a height of 5? 10". His hair is black and kept short, growing no longer than an inch. He armour bears the company logo of Aegis, but is primarily orange in contrast to many others in Aegis who have theirs primarily black, with thick black stripes running down both sides of his arms, chest, and legs.
Class: Sentinel
Subclass: Medic
Powers: Tech Armor, First Aid, Neural Shock, Shredder Ammo
Pre-Service Record:
Lee was born and raised on Mars. He was the middle child of three children, and often found himself being the least notable. While his sisters excelled academically, and were set on their tracks to following in robotics like their parents, Lee wanted to get off of Mars and further into the galaxy, and found himself signing up with the Alliance soon after his 18th birthday.

Lee went through basic training as everyone else, but opted afterwards to take training in medicine. In a couple years, he learned how to perform basic medical procedures and field surgeries on both human and Citadel races, and was recognized as a Medic of the Alliance. From there he was bounced around from outpost to outpost on the edge of Alliance Space and the Terminus Systems, helping to repel pirate attacks and clean up the damage they left behind.

During this time, Lee often found himself taking his shore leaves to Illium, and experiencing the trills the Asari border world had to offer. That was until one day, nearing the ends of one of his shore leaves to Illium, he was contacted by a woman whom he had encountered a couple years before there. It turned out that she had only been in Illium for a few weeks, before returning to her home on Omega, but when she did, she wasn?t alone. The message detailed that he was a father, and that she had run into some hard times and needed help from Lee to raise the boy.

The next day at Illium?s most major space port, Lee deserted the Alliance, going AWOL on the first shuttle he could catch heading for the Terminus Systems, to meet his son for the first time.
Psychological Profile:
Lee is a model Alliance soldier to the core. A sense of discipline and loyalty has been drilled into him after years of training and service. He attempts to bring that to his employment with Aegis, but finds it difficult to sometimes tolerate the laxer nature the mercenaries have to their duties. Because of this, he gets along better with those that share similar ideals and manners.
Notes:

Lee lives off base with David, at a nearby apartment complex.

Draylan Craste

Name: Draylan Craste / 'Dray'
Gender: Male
Race: Salarian
Age: 16
Appearance: Wears a uniform with the company colours on it with the company emblem on his back.
Concept: Cook
Notes: Draylan always enjoys talking. He is extremely optimistic, and tries to see the best of
the situation. He is very friendly to everyone. He also has a great sense of humour, making him a good friend to some of the company?s members.
He is often found in the common room, either playing some newly released game that he was able to purchase elsewhere or cooking something for the others to eat. He is quite a proficient cook, but tends to cook things that are rather spicy.

Din 'Dinny' Von

Name: Din ?Dinny? Von
Gender: Male
Race: Volus
Age: 37
Appearance: Wears a standard brown and red environmental suit
Concept: Pilot
Notes: Din Von worked as a pilot on Illium, and later owned a small shipping company. He was also a smuggler and became rather wealthy off of it. Illium authorities eventually caught up to him however, and seized most of his assets. However, he was lucky enough though to be able to not get charged or arrested with anything on the condition that he left Illium for somewhere else. He started working again as a pilot, and eventually found himself becoming a smuggler once again on Omega, shipping goods all around the galaxy. He has since been picked up by Verahl to pilot for him.
Din is a standard Volus, compensating for his physical flaws with a messiah complex and ego that measure to be far taller then himself. He enjoys things of the ?upper-class? and often tries to argue or discuss things like art and literature that he has little understanding of.
He doesn?t live in the barracks of the base however, a fact that almost every company member thanks. Instead he lives in an apartment nearby. He will often show up however when needing to discuss something with Verahl, be there for a briefing, or if he has nothing better to do.
He has also gained a nickname from Lux after their first meeting. Much to his dislike, several members of Aegis now refer to Din as ?Dinny?.

Keith Richard David Dawkins

Name: Keith Richard David Dawkins
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Age: 26
Appearance: Has short messy dark brown hair, with an even more unkempt beard. He?s rather slim but has a decent amount of muscle on his arms, and little fat on him despite his unhealthy, greasy diet. Has a soft complexion, but is gradually getting paler as he spends more time on Omega. His arms also hold a number of cuts and scratches. Wears a black and orange mechanic's jumpsuit.
Concept: Mechanic/Gunner
Notes: Keith is an earthborn that came from an upper-class family. He has a formal education, graduating from one of Earth?s more prestigious universities with the intention of joining his father?s company .He hated the work though, as much of it was theoretical. His true passion was engines of any sort, and other mechanical things. After a fight with his dad over his desire to become a mechanic, he left Earth behind him, and started serving on whatever ships he could get on. His dad said he?d miss the good life he had created for Keith, and that he would be back within the month. That occurred nearly three years ago.
Keith is extremely energetic, and is always looking for a good time. He?s very sociable and friendly, and often likes to tell stories about his life or his ?Grandpappy Elli?. He is loved by almost anyone he meets, and is a very hard person to hate. He enjoys spending much of his free time inventing small machines and involving himself in a variety of ?projects?. One project he is currently determined to keep secret, and has one table in the storage area covered in tarp, determined to keep it a surprise until after he?s finished.

Oleene T?Lana

Name: Oleene T?Lana
Gender: Female
Race: Asari
Age: 310
Appearance:
Concept: Club Manager
Notes: Oleene grew up on Omega. Since she was young, she had always been attached to a variety of clubs and bars. Starting off working as a dancer, Oleene kept working as one for a few decades until she opened up her own club on some of the lower seedier levels. Since then, she created her own small club empire, eventually owning six different clubs dotted around a few districts. This was until the 4-6 destroyed three of them, and took over running the remaining ones. Once the 4-6 were eliminated, Verahl hired her to work for him.
She acts as the business half of Verahl. She checks in on almost all of the other clubs, clinics, markets, and other businesses that operate out of Aegis?s territory. While she keeps herself centered out of the Elixir, she is already looking to purchase another club in Aegis?s territory for herself in order to help work her way back up.

Karnak:

Karnak slowly started to open his eyes, struggling to keep them open. The light from the room was making it very difficult for him to see what was going on around him. All he could make out were the shapes of various machines near his head. He could feel wire running down the length of his body, attached to different parts. Some were there to pump a variety of a fluids and drugs into him, while the others took readings to monitor his vital statistics. He could hear one of the machines letting of a quiet, but high pitched alarm. Karnak tried to focus on which one it was, but he could hardly even read the screen of each of the machines, only being able to make out the odd shapes and trends of what they were recording.

Then, a figure loomed over Karnak. The light obscured the details of who it was, as Karnak tried to place him. He opened his mouths a bit, but found it hard to speak. His voice cracked a few times, as he tried to talk.

?Who are---? he croaked, but before he could finish he was interrupted by a large amount of water being poured onto his face.

?Rise and shine Karn,? Miles said as he tilted his glass back up, and slowly swirled its contents.

Karnak coughed and winced slightly as the water trickled the wrong way down his throat. He brought his hands to his face, and rubbed the top of his brow, as he felt a severe headache making its way over him. He then brought his arms down, and lifted himself from the table, until he had his legs hanging off the end and was sitting on the edge. The room started spinning as he started rubbing his head again to attempt to relieve the headache.

?These will likely help,? Miles said as he shook a small capsule of pills in front of Karnak?s face. Karnak quickly probed his fingers inside, and pulled out a small handful of pills.

?Yeah? Only take one now, we?ll stretch them out over the next--- Two?s fine, I mean hell, you?re probably having a major--- Three?s a bit excessive Karn, I mean it will--- C?mon, four is plenty, no more, you?re only supposed to take up to six a day after all.?

Karnak glared at Miles as he dropped the remaining few pills back into the bottle.

?Right well, Verahl will be happy that you?re up again. That means he isn?t down a---?

?Who exactly are you?? Karnak bluntly interrupted. He didn?t bother getting up, instead opting to still sit, at least until the dizziness stopped.

?Oh yeah, you would have been out for that bit,? Miles said. ?Name?s Miles, I?m the new Doc here.?

?Where exactly is here??

?The new base owned by the Aegis Protection Firm.?

?How did Verahl manage to get us a new base with a medical facility??

?Well, I?ve only known him a few weeks, but I guess he?s one for looting, or at least not letting something of value go to waste.?

Karnak stared at Miles clueless, trying to figure out what he was getting at.

?Let me put it to you this way Karn.?

?Don?t call me Karn.?

?No worries, let me put it to you this way then Karnak. You got shot several times at close range. The wounds were severe, and you were dead unless you could reach a medical facility fast. Fortunately for you, you were within about? Maybe 30 yards of one.?

It started to dawn on Karnak.

?In other words, you?re in the ex-4-6 base. Congratulations, you guys won!... I think I have some scotch around here if you want to celebrate, even though everyone else started celebrating, what, five weeks ago??

Karnak sighed as he shook his head. He knew enough know. Aegis had beaten the 4-6, had taken their base over, and here he was, five weeks later, still recovering from the injuries of the assault.

?Here, drink this,? Miles said as he handed Karnak a fresh glass of water he had filled. ?And I?ll fill you in on what you missed.?

The Doctor then explained to Karnak all that had happened in the five weeks that had passed. The rest of Aegis had been able to neutralize the remains of the 4-6. After the base had been taken, several of the remaining 4-6 stationed around the district fled, leaving for other gangs or companies to join or sinking back in with the civilians of Omega. The leader had hidden herself within the vault of the base, and tried to withhold the siege as Aegis tried to find a way to open the doors. Within a few days, she had realized there was no hope left. Her communications had been severed with the rest of the 4-6, but she already had known that the remains of her gang had fallen apart. The ventilation and electricity to the vault had also been shut off, leaving it hot and dark for several hours. She had been able to have all overrides to the door disabled since she shut it, making it so no one, not even Sal, had been able to open it. With dwindling resources left inside with her and no one left on the outside to save her, she decided to end it herself rather than give Verahl the final victory. A few minutes later, after a number of shots had been fired; two remaining gang members opened the doors to the vault, seeking mercy from Verahl. Their leader, and two of her body guards had committed suicide, rather than surrender. They did not want to die however, so they dropped their weapons, and hoped that Verahl wouldn?t have them executed. Miles laughed as he reached this part, stating that the two of them were still in the prison cells nearby. After that, Verahl concentrated on getting their new territory organized, and under Aegis?s control. Several fought against their new rule, those being humans that had moved to within the 4-6?s domain for their stance on aliens and their protection. Others though joined peacefully. Part of the borders though were taken by other gangs, who simply moved their borders down a street or two while Aegis took time to achieve their dominance. Verahl didn?t worry about losing a couple streets though, instead happy to have taken out the 4-6 with so few casualties. Karnak asked Miles if anyone else had been injured in the fighting. Miles said that Verahl and Esten had both been injured by a powerful Vanguard of gang, who had managed to defeat Raven in a duel, but was forced to flee near its end. Lux had also taken a number of wounds during the battle, but thanks to the nature of him being a Krogan, he had been able to recover from all of them. He then mentioned Ocara, who had gone through several injuries as well, and had even been tortured by 4-6 members. He had recovered a few weeks ago though, but he said that he had still been walking with a slight limp.

?And that?s pretty much that. A few new people have signed on with us as well, while a Meer and Thanya both quit. Thanya I think left for Illium, and Meer got into a fight with Verahl and Lux and decided to leave soon after.?

Miles took the glass from Karnak as he grabbed his arm and helped lift him to his feet.

?Feeling a bit better now??

Karnak looked down to his chest, and ran his hands over the bandages that adorned it. These were the wounds and marks left from the shots that had pierced his armour. He jabbed a few of them softly, and felt small pains emanate from them.

?Trust me, those painkillers are making them feel like nothing right now,? Miles said as he handed the bottle to Karnak. ?In fact, you?re probably feeling little right now. Now, only take one every four to six hours, two if it?s really hurting, and up to six a day. Remember that. If you need to be reminded, come back down here and ask, it?s what I do. Now, I?m betting Verahl?s wanting to see you, so I suggest you go talk to him.?

Karnak nodded and headed towards the doors, before turning back to Miles.

?Just head to the top floor,? Miles said before Karnak could open his mouth. Karnak again nodded and made his way towards the stairs, heading up to see Verahl.

Ethan, "Paladin", sat in the common room cutting up some fruit with his impressively sized hunting knife and talking with some of the members of the Merc group that had just hired him. They were mostly rookies that probably joined because the recent success Aegis enjoyed, Some told stories of their time in combat, showed off their scars and postured in an overly-masculine fashion that befit people in their line of work. Ethan showed off the burn that covered a sizable portion of his chest and was rewarded with suitable oohs and ahhs as he recounted how he got it, and what he did to the Krogan who gave it to him. He exchanged some of the jokes he had picked up in his time to spouts of laughter from his small audience ("where do you find a Salarian that you gave coffee? about twenty miles from wherever he started") He spouted off some note-worthy names of bounties that he had brought in, to surprised exclamations from the greener recruits as they heard ones they recognized. Eventually he had enough time in the spotlight, and let the others tell their own stories, which he responded to with exclamations and comments when he found it appropriate. Keeping an ear out for any flaws the crew might have that he should be watching out for, he'd already picked out the rookies and the vets, now he was listening for anything he could use later.

As he sat back and let the "kids" tell some pretty impressive stories of their own, he reflected on how he wound up with this job in the first place. After bringing in some punk debt-ditcher to Omega to probably get the shit beaten out of him (although Ethan had managed to talk to the bookie out of killing the kid, having him work off the debt instead) he got into his ship and accessed the net, when his VI, Jeeves, told him he had a message, he opened his comm and saw a Batarian on the other end, telling him about the reputation he had as "Paladin" and offering him a job. While Ethan was rarely one for long contract work, the money seemed decent, and the crew had a good reputation, by Omega's standards anyway. So he signed on, with a few provisions. Notably that he wouldn't be an official employee, and as such he could leave or abstain from missions at his discretion, he would have to provide his own hardware, guns and armor, but could make use of common company materials.

He left the group, telling them that if they wanted a good story that they should ask him about how he got the name "Paladin", and offering to show the green recruits some tricks he had picked up, knowing that it would most likely consist of things that any soldier learns in basic. He stood up and walked up the flight of stairs and into the club connecting to the firm, deciding that a few beers wouldn't go amiss before heading back to his ship/home, which was sitting in the docks nearby.

'Bang'

Another deafening crack echoed out over the rooftops of Omega, the sound seeming to linger heavy in the air, even after the immediate bang had passed. The shot seemed to disturb the very air on the roof of the Aegis headquarters, fracturing the delicate sense of calm that had once hovered in the air, the sense of calm that was 'oh so' rare in Omega, though ironically, shattering that fragile calm seemed to be one of the only things that allowed Ocara to feel at peace these days.

Things had been like this since his walk out from Aegis all that time ago, though it had piqued when the 4-6 base had been assaulted, when he had escaped from torture and captivity to find his love Lexi, dead.

He didn't blame Aegis for her death, they had even rescued him and accepted him back into their fold, even though he had been the cause of the mayhem. He didn't even blame 4-6, though they were certainly scum of the highest caliber and it had been one of their bullets that had ended Lexi's life, they were only a part of what caused Lexi's death, a consequence that Ocara himself had brought about.

But Ocara wasn't going to be defeated, not by loss, torture or even injury, Ocara was stronger than that and besides, without his sunny optimism and cheerful disposition, he was pretty sure Aegis would fall apart or kill one another, especially the Krogan.

And so, the Turian resumed his target practice, high above the streets of Omega, on the roof of the Aegis HQ that he had turned into both an impromptu firing range and his own private retreat, a place to escape from trials of duty and gazes of his companions, to contemplate and to try and rebuild himself once-more.

We're back baby, sorry about the slightly morose OP, things will get cheerier from hereon-out!

Sal sat in the common room listening to the new recruits converse, old battle stories from the sounds of the conversation and the number of boasts from some of them. She looked up from her disassembled Viper sitting on a small table she had brought in from her room. She grabbed the samll glass filled with a blue liquid and ice. She detached the small filter strw from the front of her mask drank.

Keel'ah I'm glad I'm able to actually drink again without going overboard. She thought happliy as she sat her drink down again and resumed her work on her rifle. She knew the pieces were in working order but disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling had become a habit of hers drilled into her from her drill sargent on the Hadran and her current boss, Verahl. Plus all the other stories she had picked up in her pilgramige about soliders or other mercs dying because of bad equipment helped pormote the habit.

Guards:

The elevator doors to the rooftop opened and out stepped two of the club's guards, Janx and Triven. Each normally kept tabs on the Elixer downstairs but had come up to the rooftop to check out the gunfire. Janx was a Batarian, and Triven was a Turian. Each wore black clothing, and on the left arm of each, the club's symbol was sown in.

"Hey, buddy!" Triven yelled. "You've been told before to keep the shooting to the range downstairs. Down there, no one can hear you, but up here, people outside waiting on the street to get in can."

Janx walked towards Ocara while Triven remained by the elevator, holding the door open and waiting for him.

Bartender:

Almost immediatly after Ethan sat down one of the bartender's approached him.

"What'll it be?" she asked him. She was a young Asari who had been working at the club since soon after the removal of the 4-6. She had seen Ethan a few times, and knew he worked directly for Aegis. This made him one of their more important customers who should be served immediatly.

"You're serving him and not me?" a patron nearby said, rather loud and angry. "I've been waiting here how long and you get to him right away? Where the hell is my service?"

Terina walked into the club just in time to hear the angry patron. Moving quickly, she sat a the table next to his. "You seem a bit upset that he was served first. Clearly, you either are unaware of who owns this bar, or you are unaware of who that man is. Which is it?" She smirked. "You should calm down. Have a drink."

Patron:

"I've waiting for---" the patron started to say before turning around to see Terina, and giving her a smile. "Actually, what about you? You want something? A Salarian liquor? Batarian ale? What you looking for?"

"Listen guys, as I've said before, the range downstairs is tiny and shit, if I take out ol' Nag here, the barrel will brush against the targets" said Ocara, as he stood so he could get eye level with Janx. He liked the bouncers (though he was sure the feeling wasn't mutual), they did a good job of keeping the club running smoothly and keeping out the scum, but they did sometimes take their jobs a little too seriously, though with Verhal as a boss, one could be forgiven for not wanting to fuck up.

"Now come on guys, the club is so popular we'd turn a profit even if we had Krogan strippers" said Ocara as he stood up and leant against the low wall behind him, involuntarily quivering at the thought of Krogan strippers.

Guards:

"Don't care, we got people noticing, and we can't have it affecting business," Janx said as he picked up a few of the thermal clips that lay near Ocara.

"We know Oleene told Verahl off about this before," Triven said as he cracked his fingers and waited for Janx and Ocara. "So we expect you to stop this sort of thing. She says if you cost her or the club a single credit, she'll make a tab just for you."

Patron:

"Well, is there anything else I can get ya then?" the patron said, with another sickening smile.

The bartender behind the counter winced a bit.

He's going to get himself killed... He doesn't even realize who he's speaking with.

"Look, what do you want? I'll get you it right now if you promise you just leave these two alone," the bartender said nervously, hoping he took it and left the two others alone.

The patron ignored the bartender though, and focused only on Terina, still giving her the same perverted smile as before.

"Very subtle. Allow me to share your subtlety. You are going to go to another table and wait for a drink in silence. No more complaints. If you don't, well, things may get bloody. For you."

Ethan ordered his drink from the Asari behind the bar, and a second for Terina, using his biotics he passed hers over, "thanks for the assistance Terina, but he's just an idiot, nothing I can't handle"

If anyone is wondering I introduce myself as Paladin, not Ethan, but since I work with you you could know me by either
