First of all this has probably already been posted but i didnt feel like going throu the 5 BILLION!!! posts and threads of gamer rage so i make a new one!

Secondly, even though i understand some of the rage that people have about the Day one-DLC because lets face it ITS A FUCKING PROTEAN, why the big fuzz?

Many gamers rage is based on a youtube video that says that the Protean team member will be left out of the game (among other less important thing) and sold in a DLC wich is awailable on day one, A bit of a dick move but i understand why they did, and here's why:

ME3 was completed, certified and set in production in mid January, wich is the exact same time that they STARTED to make the DLC!

I dont know about you guys but i have found it very hard to put in or change something when its no longer in my hands.

So please correct me if you want or simply rage away as many have done on other threads!

I was kind of hoping for you to say "OVER 9000!" but that's an entirely different series.

Agreed entirely with your post. Seems a bit silly to rage over something that's out of our control. Besides, it's not particularly important, just a nice little extra for the long running fans. Eden Prime and a Prothean... makes me look back on the good ol' days of Mass Effect 1.

Ahhhh...

Beats me, it's almost like people WANT mass effect 3 to be bad.

I think that's our answer. For some reason people, no, fans of the game go to incredible lengths to try and make everyone (but mostly themselves) believe that Bioware has suddenly become a soulless automaton that is hellbent on dragging the entire gaming community down. I started reading one of the threads and there were people who obviously didn't know anything about game/software development and they accused day 1 DLCs as unfair to everybody and that it takes actual effort to separate that from the initial release.

Didn't someone else just make this exact same thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.351966-Why-is-everyone-so-down-on-bioware-due-to-ME3-DLC]?

Efficiency people!

I didn't get that impression. From what I hear they objected to the "From the Ashes" DLC that was cut from the main game then sold as a Day one DLC. Its been well known that "from the ashes" was made during Mass Effect 3 development. Personally it don?t matter for me too much as I'm getting a collector's edition, but people who buy the standard edition are getting a raw deal (as in not getting what they paid for which is a "complete" game).

That right there isn't far from the truth.

Don't forget this snippet from someone in the news thread:

"WHY DOES HIS HAMBURGER HAVE BACON? MINE DOESN'T HAVE BACON. I DON'T CARE THAT HE PAID MORE FOR HIS BURGER - YOU KNEW ALL ALONG YOU COULD PUT BACON ON THE HAMBURGER - WHY ARE YOU LYING TO US"

I've read some stuff that says nothing was cut so I'm not sure why people are going on crazy when we don't really have all the info anyway

That doesn't make it "cut content" by itself. You can develop something alongside something else. It's not mandatory they two would automatically belong in a singular product afterwards. That's the whole idea of modular design - you make modules, often some may done along the "core" one but that doesn't make them belong to the core module. Cars are being brought up as an example, so I'll blatantly steal taht - while a car is developed, there are other teams making extras for the car. When you buy a car, though, you don't automatically get the extras. Same basic idea in our case, really.

there is info that says it was made by a different team so that adds more weight to what your saying

It's a big deal because its a Prothean. That's about it.

Also, I am quite confused that more people are not mad about this fact: CE owners (who practiced ME3 media blackout) are going to have a cool little surprise waiting for them when they find the Prothean. Everyone else HAS TO have it spoiled for them to get the damn thing in the first place. What the fuck sense does that make?

the main problem is that this was a leak before they were ready to put out the info so maybe if there wasn't a leak things might have been somewhat smoother

While this is certainly true I don't see how you can advertise a character who, by its very nature is a spoiler without spoiling it. People who bought the collector's edition knew they were getting a "bonus squadmate". Everyone else has to buy a $10 piece of DLC with the fucker's face on it :(

i'm not in favor of charging people for it but i am in favor of the fact there even getting it at all since some special dlc only the people who preorder or get it from some store or another get it

I just don't think something as BIG as a Prothean should have been considered as DLC in the first place due to its potential impact on the lore and wow factor to long-time fans. The discussion should have ended at, "How do we market this?" Yeah you can milk the long time fans, but at the same time you are ruining a potentially awesome reveal that would have made a wider reach of people enjoy your game more... assuming of course it was handled correctly.

Fuss not fuzz ;)

Pedantry aside I don't understand the rage over it either.Didn't Bioware say it was developed by a separate team after the game had gone gold?I mean it's not like they just cut a chunk out of the middle of the game is it *coughUbisoftlookingyouwithAssassinsCreed2cough*

i agree its massive spoiler but people think just because he's there he has some impact on the lore. i haven't read the leaked script or played the dlc so i can't say for certain if I'm right about all this but i can only go on what i hear and its conflicting bioware says this they say bioware is lieing. its still a week or so before its out
