ME3- Will you stick with your ending?

I'm sure most Mass Effect fans will have found out about what can happen if Shepard f***s up. I mean it's almost impossible to not read that that huge spoiler-ridden topic title that claims Shep can lose the fight. And this got me thinking.

I would be devistated if he lost, but then again, why would I change it? I mean the more you bend the story to your perfect out come, the less it feels like a story and more like a game. Though I like it as a game, I always considered it a story, and I'd like to keep it that way. I remember when in Mass Effect 2 Mordin and Zaeed died, and I was shocked. Then my Romance character died and so I restarted the level. Then I got lucky and everyone survived. It would of made a much better ending if half of your squad, including Shep's love interest, were killed in the final battle. Plus, after seeing them all die, it felt "artificial" when they all lived, like a plastic-y perfect ending.

So what ever happens to my Shep, it will forever be written in stone. Even if I replay, what ever out come occures then will never shake off my original ending. It'll be like fantasising a alternative ending, which I'm sure lots of you do once you've read a book, watched a film or played a game. But I digress.
If you got a ending you did not wish for (whether reapers invade or not), will you restart the level and pretend it never happened?

I generally consider whatever my initial outcome turns out to be as "canon", and don't even bother with subsequent playthroughs. I might make an exception in the case of an UTTER catastrophe though.

I never played the first one, but I will probably get ME3, and whatever ending I get for my male character, will be the ending he gets. He might get killed because he's not such a nice guy or he might turn around and sacrifice himself for the galaxy I don't know for sure. But that ending will be final. I'd rather he survived to continue playing with, and I'll try to avoid dying but I don't know how it's going to end up. But my other character I made in ME2 was a female character who was kind of the opposite of my male character, I might replay through with her, or make a new character for the different endings/playthroughs.

Of course.

I must save the galaxy, it must happen.

If I fail then i'll pretend I was looking the other way and "accidentally" reload to an earlier save (much like I spent hours doing in Deus Ex trying to get the best outcomes from conversation).

I don't like failing, especially when i've been at that damn story for 2 games already.

The galaxy WILL be saved dammit .... it will do as it's damned well told and BE BLOODY SAVED.

In ME2 I avoided all tips on how to get the best ending, and played through losing only Mordin and Jack. Afterwards I reloaded my save to do a 'everyone lives' run, mainly for the purpose of having more characters available in Mass Effect 3. I still refer to 'my' ending as losing Jack and Mordin though, but there's no point in giving up content in ME3 just for the sake of roleplaying regret.

I consider my first playthrough in these games cannon. It's a shame too because in Me2 I lost over half my crew, but that's just how things will progress into ME3.

If the game is good enough I'll play through with guides to try and get the best end/worst ending. But none are as significant true as the ending I started with.

I have a playthrough where I stick with what happens and few others where I bend just to see what happens. But I kept everyone alive my first playthrough in ME2, true story I didn't look at online guides or anything, I guess I got lucky. Probably because I try to buy everything in these kinds of games, so I had the ship upgraded and then I made lucky choices during the Suicide Mission, and of course since I play straight one way or the other, I had high paragon and was able to resolve the in squad fighting.

I'll probably find the best ending before I finish ME3 with all my Sheps (I have 4 of them) so i'll stick with what i get.

Unless Tali dies of course, then I'll be mashing the load button in no time.

And Legion better be useful dammit! I spent 3 playthrough trying to let him live! I accidentally gave him to Cerberus the second time though, +10 rep if Bioware brings him back as a Cerberus robot assassin in that case

I'll just stick with what I get and watch the alternatives on Youtube. Although I have to admit, while I will try to avoid spoilers and guides, I will slyly look for any key hints like not hanging round after the crew was abducted in ME2 or 130(?) days in Fable 3.

Well I intend to play ME3 more than once, so I'm not worried. I want to see all the different ways things can unfold.

I guess that will depend on exactly how severely I screw up.

If 90% of humanity is lost to the coming scourge... well, a bit of tragedy makes for a good story. However, if Wrex, Liara, Jack, Mordin or Legion die, then I shall be pounding that Load Game button in the blink of an eye, initial-playthrough-canon be damned!

So far it hasn't been an issue. I managed to get my preferred outcomes in both previous games on the first go.

I will settle for nothing less than my perfect ending in my first playthrough. I almost always aim to do every little thing I can in my first RPG playthrough. I'm actually halfway through my "perfect" ME1 playthrough right now, romancing Liara, saving the Council, saving Wrex and Kaidan.

I will if my Liara-romancing Shep doesn't get a bunch of blue children, and for my worst ending Shep I'll reload if I somehow get a better ending.

For the rest I'll just see what happens.

So if my Erika [http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v602/Ruffin316/Hi-Def%20Sage%20Screens/QueryStandardErika.jpg] so happens to doom the entire galaxy or herself to oblivion... well, life's a *****.

Any subsequent runs will be strictly for achievement grinding and will have no bearing whatsoever on the final outcome of my Shep's story.

I always try to get the 'best' ending. No matter what.

That usually doesn't happen on my first play through, so I end up doing multiple play throughs.

Of course I'm going to replay it again if I have to, I'll play the whole series again from scratch if needed. I didn't go to all that trouble just so Shepard could lose. I understand with you about not wanting to 'spoil' the games story by molding it yourself, but the way I see it what makes games like Mass Effect such a great vehicle for narrative is that the events of the story can occur however you want them to. So If I want Shepard to win in my story you bet your ass I'm going to do whatever I have to to guarantee my outcome.

When I inevitably revisit the series in the future I may be inclined to do a 'blind' play through, ignoring what I know and sticking just to what seems best to do at any given time without turning back. But for now I want my sunshine and rainbows ending.

Considering I plan on playing it multiple times just like I did with the first 2, I'll be getting every ending just to see them all so I don't care what ending I get the first time. That said, I will be trying to get the best possible one.

Off-topic here but, can anyone see my avatar? I changed it like 10 minutes ago and it's not showing up for me.

Wow, I can honestly say that is the first custom Shepard of either gender that I have really loved the look of. Whenever I try to do one I seem to get serious uncanny valley syndrome so I usually just stick with the standard models. But you know how to build a face!

I would've stuck with my Mass Effect 2 ending - I saved everybody except Miranda. I didn't even really like her, but I did all her mission quests and everything and I realized that the only reason she died was because when she and Jack fought, I sided with Jack because I wasn't paragon enough to difuse the situation - Even though I was pretty much playing only Paragon, and there's NO WAY to change her disposition to you after that, which I thought was total bullshit.
