Simple topic, meat. And while I'd rather not tackle the morality of eating meat, if it can be kept civil, I'm more than willing to debate the merits of either. But I consider it paramount to my survival to eat meat and nothing will change that.

So, firstly, I eat meat. In fact, I eat so much meat that it takes 3 vegetarians(vegans/whatever they want to call themselves, I don't understand the differences but I'll happily take a lesson) to counterbalance me. I've eaten Beef, Pork, Chicken, Turkey, several types of Fish, Buffalo(Wild and Raised), Venison (Wild and Raised), Boar(Wild and Raised) Moose(Wild and Raised), Kangaroo(Which I will never, EVER, EVER touch, again, like, ever.) and lest I forget, Bunny Rabbit.(Probably a few others I don't know about.)

Now, that being said, I'm also a descendant of the Algonquin tribes of Northern Quebec. I currently weigh in at 308 lbs at 6 foot even with my natural hunch and scoliosis and about 6'3 when I stand as tall as I'm "supposed too" when being measured. I'm currently obese but that's because of poor dietary choices on my parents behalf and my own in more recent years, coupled with a lack of exercise, but I digress, that's not really relevant. I love meat in almost all of its forms and flavors. I love animal fat with my meat, nothing gets my tongue watering like a nice pound of meat frying in some animal fat/butter/coconut oil with some minced onions and a few other veggies.(Unless it's winter, in which case my diet almost goes full nuclear on meat.) I eat meat because I have to to survive. I've got Celiacs disease which means I can't eat gluten. I've got Lactose so I can't have dairy(Butter and Cheese however seem to be fine.) I once went 2 weeks without eating meat and only eating protein suplements ala Vegetarianism, never again. I was completely dead to the world sick, couldn't do anything for myself and once I got back on the meat, I got better. I've since been eating a mixture of Animal Fats/Meats and assorted vegetables and have lost about 50 lbs, so I somewhat scoff at the idea that animal fats are bad for you.

Do you eat meat?
If yes, why?
If no, why?
Would you eat Synthetic Meat?
Do you have a preference in Meat?(as in both in terms of Animal and individual Dish)
If you don't eat meat, what do you prefer?

To answer my own questions and get to the topic at hand. I love meat. I don't like the way it's being handled these days and corn fed beef being touted as "great" can suck a lemon.(I'd be a lot more offensive if I wasn't being restrained on that subject). I don't like the mass produced slaughter house style and I don't know if it offends me on it's own merits or because of the disrespect towards the lives being lost for my survival. If synthetic meat held the same nutritional value as Grass Fed meat, I'd eat it if it tasted close enough to the real deal and didn't have any side effects.
My favorite meat? Wild Board mixed with Wild Buffalo. They taste amazing together. Farm raised just doesn't have the same taste to it, but it's close enough to be a fair substitute.

(Edit: Attempted to "paragraph it up" as it didn't look as bad in preview as it did in post.)

First off, holy smokes, paragraph that up a bit. It's tricky to read :(

That's better :)

Second off....MEAT!!!!!!

Hell to the yeah I eat meat. I eat meat for it is tasty (and I am such a picky eater that I couldn't lose any more items for eating or I may starve). That's what it comes down to for me though; is it tasty and will eating it kill me? If the answer is yes and no respectively, then I will eat it! NOM NOM NOM

As to synthetic meat, it would be the same question; is it tasty and will eating it kill me? Additionally, it would come down to price assuming yes and no respectively again. If eating a test tube burger is just as tasty and significantly cheaper then I'm all for it. Healthier would also grant it bonus points.

As to my favored dead animal of choice, it would depend on my mood but I find chicken being the animal of choice. Chicken is healthier (well...CAN be healthier depending on what you do with it) than many of the other meats and there is a lot you can do with it.

I'll admit I'm a little more finicky than you are, but I agree with your stance.

The test tube beef they tried making fell somewhat on the taste front according to Londoners who gave it a whirl. I wouldn't know, being Canadian and all. If it tasted the same(or better) and had the same nutritional value as Grass Fed, not Corn Fed as is common to the North America's because it's Quote
Impossible to feed that many cattle on American soil in order to ensure the survival of our species
Despite tests proving 40 cows can eat for a day on 1 acre of land(Or one cow can eat for 40 days on 1 acre, basically, 7 acres of land properly prepared can feed 40 cows indefinitely.) and the cow is a healthier animal altogether, not requiring the horomones/etc/etc/etc they're on currently. The drawbacks are more work required to raise the cattle(Not by much mind, but when you look at those pens, it's understandable how big of a hurdle it feels like.) coupled with the fact that you can't get that "marble" look on your slabs of meat without corn feeding, it's not going to change.

As to my favored dead animal of choice, it would depend on my mood but I find chicken being the animal of choice. Chicken is healthier (well...CAN be healthier depending on what you do with it) than many of the other meats and there is a lot you can do with it.
I'm not all that fond of fowl. I enjoy chicken on occasion and turkey when the occasion calls for it, but I tend to favor the quadrupedal animals myself.

I eat meat because it's yummy. I prefer beef. But dishwise, bacon burgers rule. I'd definitely try synthetic meat. I've eaten so many artificial things in my days that it'd be stupid to say no to that.

I do eat meat.
I eat it because it is very tasty. Savory and flavorful and just yum.
If it could actually taste and feel like real meat, I think I could nibble on synthetic.
Probably chicken is my preference. With pork maybe second. I'm not too keen on beef. But most that I had was probably not tender enough.

Do you eat meat? No.
If no, why? Basic empathy?
Would you eat Synthetic Meat? Sure.
If you don't eat meat, what do you prefer? In terms of protein? Probably lentils.

I don't eat meat.
It stated off as a for the animals thing, and while that's still true, I also don't really like meat.
My favorite was chicken, though. Went well enough with stuff.
I probably would not eat synthetic unless it blew the real deal out of the water, but I am totally for making it.
I get most of my protein from nuts and things, and I prefer fruit to any food.

As per the difference between Vegans and Vegetarians, both won't eat meat, but vegans won't eat any animal products (Dairy, eggs...).

Do you eat meat?

Very much yes. I do not consider anything handed to me through a drive-through window to be real meat however.

If yes, why?

It is delicious, a source of protein and makes me feel good upon completion of eating it. It is 400% more satisfying when I am the one who killed the source of the meat in the first place and am putting my hard earned work into sustaining my life. I have no moral objections to eating meat. The animals it came from have long stopped suffering, it is something we have been doing since the hunting and gathering days and it is very human.

[sub]Respect for the source of your meal is important to me however. Every edible part of a shot game animal is eaten in my family, the gross bits going to the dogs.[/sub]

Would you eat Synthetic Meat?

Never. I am not opposed to the concept of it however.

Do you have a preference in Meat?

The best cut of beef available BBQ'd to a juicy medium rare is a good standby. Turkey and bacon are also high tier. The king of meats however is lean Elk. My Uncle shot an Elk two years ago that had just fully matured but hadn't spent much time running. Most tender, delicious and unique meat you can eat when cooked right. Salmon is my favorite fish.

[sub][sub]I really want to try Moose some day.[/sub][/sub]

If you don't eat meat, what do you prefer?

Well, I obviously eat meat but I'm on a student budget right now. I have the odd meat entree but lately I've been eating lots and lots of lentils for protein. Cheap and easy to put into spaghetti sauce.

Yes I eat meat.
I have found that my metabolism requires it. If I go more than a day or so without meat I start feeling unwell. If I go three or more days w/o meat I lose a *lot* of strength, and feel really sick. Oddly, I can actually *fast* and feel OK much longer than I can eating vegetarian.
I'd definitely give synthetic meat a try, but other protein sources don't seem to work for me. I'd love to be able to go vegetarian for a variety of reasons, but with my metabolism I just can't.
My favorite dish...ok I feel *really* guilty about this but it's lamb shoulder or arm chops seasoned & broiled to very well done. Haven't had it in years though. I'd like to try mutton, but you just can't get it around here. The few times I've had venison I've really liked it, thought it superior to beef. Like some other posters, I would like to try Elk & Moose. Of the meats I can get on a regular basis, beef is my favorite. However I get chicken and 'mystery meat' much more often than beef, due to the price.

Do you eat meat?
No, for me it's a resource/human thing rather than a save the animals thing. (So yes, I would kill and eat an animal 'on a desert island')

Would you eat Synthetic Meat?
Depends on resources again, in a controlled environment it could be more efficient than veggies even and if so yes, without a second thought.

Do you have a preference in Meat?
Back in the day my favourite was chicken.

If you don't eat meat, what do you prefer?
Anything really as I tend to have a food is fuel outlook these days. It tends to be what is convenient to prepare, so pasta and rice are the basis of most of my meals, same when I was a meat eater.

I love meat, I could never imagine myself actually going vegetarian. I like to eat it for a couple of reasons. First is the somewhat primal joy one gets when they bite into a big juicy steak, cooked just enough that it is seared on the outside, but still a nice reddish purplish color on the inside. Also because eating meat is the best way to get protien in your diet, and I like to eat a somewhat balanced diet.

I would love to try synthetic meat if by that you mean meat grown in a lab. As far as I'm concerned, its the exact same thing so long as they inject it with flavorings to actually make it taste like meat.

My favorite type of meat is beef. I don't know what it is, but the basic meats (pork, chicken, turkey) don't even come close to beef. I've never tried any of the more uncommon meats (venison, bison, ect.) but I've always wanted to taste different kinds of meat. As a Child my dream was to eat at least one of every animal.

Do you eat meat?
- Yes and no.

If yes, why?
- I'll eat pork, turkey and chicken, fish and seafood in general. Because it tastes gooooood.
If no, why?
- I don't eat red meat much anymore. I was already becoming less enthused about it since it's sinewy nature tends to
trigger my throat spasms much more than other types, and the same property makes it get stuck in my gums more. After eating I could feel fine, not feel anything in my teeth at all, but 4 hours later my gums have swollen up and hurt very much because of one really small piece of whatever lodged in there.

Since meeting my boyfriend I've mostly stopped eating red meat altogether. I already had the afforementioned issues, the throat one being severe enough to warrant not eating any, but he's a slight health nut and says it's bad for you, so I figured "Eh, ok." and haven't eaten it since.

Would you eat Synthetic Meat?
- Probably not.

Do you have a preference in Meat?(as in both in terms of Animal and individual Dish)
- Not really. I guess I am more prone to enjoying white meat, based on taste and consistency alone though.

If you don't eat meat, what do you prefer?
- Mashed potatoes, pasta, steamed veggies and some others. I don't know anyone the fancy non meat meals because I'm not a vegetarian or a vegan. (By the way, vegetarian = eating only vegetables, vegan = not eating or using anything that comes from animals)

I wouldn't call it 'basic empathy'. Were it 'basic' I think more people would have it and therefore be vegetarians.
If anything it would be 'generalised empathy'.

I'm a hardcore carnivore. I eat meat and more meat. Love pork, chicken, lamb, rabbit, wild boar, deer, horse, and more (even the young variants). And most fish, shellfish and other seafood (including barnacles, lobster, oysters, etc.). I simply love meat of all kinds (not viscera though, unless it is in sausages and similar). And I would change to synthetic in a heart beat. The treatment of animals isn't always very wthic, so I object to the treatment (I know I should be more active in my disgust, but I'm very much a carnivore) and the farming industry is one of the biggest responsibles for releasing methane into the atmosphere, contributing to climate change. Why do I eat it? Best way to get animal protein, taste, primal instinct, and I grew up eating and loving it.

What meat I prefer? A good beefstake (or bife, as known in Argentina, which is slightly different), grilled, very rare and juicy (blue maybe is too much normally though, I don't like the temperature difference between the center and the end) with salt (inversely proportional to the quality of the meat) and that's it. Tenderloin and Sirloin cuts prefered, although I don't shy form most cuts.

Also really love good Iberic Ham. THat slated but that is so greasy and smooth it fills your mouth while it is so soft is seems almost liquid. Strong and soft, an oximoron that is stil lovely.

And rabbit, ovened, just to the moment where it turns crispy, with only some condiment is heavenly.

I also love burgers, arrachera, ribs. Name the beef cut,a nd I've probably eaten it and enjoyed it.

Man I'm getting hungry. And I sound like a beast.

Yes! I eat meat! Good for me!

I eat it mostly because it's available a lot more places and it's warm. Warm veggies and fruits are hard to really get into, except beans I guess. It can be done, but it's not something I want every day.

Is synthetic meat like, tofu? Or chicken nuggets from fast food joints? Because either way, yes.

I like chicken mostly. Beef is just too hardcore for me. I am but a humble initiate into the meat world.

Honestly though, I tend to eat way more fruits and veggies than I do meat. A friend of mine who knows a lot about medieval stuff tells me that I eat like a peasant. Mostly vegetables and occasionally fruits. Meat only when there's a reason to have a fancy dinner, which is like never.

I find meat incredibly delicious, especially a nice bloody steak. I would absolutely eat synthetic meat. If it becomes a viable option, I'll eat only the synthetic stuff. The older I get the guiltier I feel about eating meat, but it's just so delicious.

Like real beef, just leaner:

Mr Schonwald said he missed the fat, but that the "general bite" was authentic

Well, shit. That makes two of us there. Beef and Bacon are a bit overwhelming for me as well. The most "hardcore" I usually go is fried chicken.

Also, since cultured meat is becoming a thing that costs less and less, the vegetarians can finally stop bitching soon, so we can all win there.

As we saw in the other eating thread, there are people who just don't like meat and not just because of ecological reasons or empathy reasons.
