I noticed recently that most of my friends who like metal also like dance.

I'm just wondering if this is just my group of friends or a real trend among metal lovers, and if it is why do people think this is the case?

I like Metallica, Megadeth, and Rick Astley. The case may be the prevalent because headbanging is a lot like dancing - moving quickly to the beat of music.

i have gradually changed from liking metal such as metallica, to enter shikari, to pendulum, and now i mainly listen to drum and bass and techno like Justice. and some indie like young knives. so i have changed my main tastes over the last year and a half.
although most of my mates prefer rock and dont like dance at all.

Pretty much the same story, except instead of changing what I like, I've become more spread out as to what genres I like.

i like metal and industrial, including ebm, tho what most ppl would consider dance i don't like, it's too repetitive and has no real innovation to it

I occasionally dance listening to certain metal. Typically while doing chores. Turns out Blind Guardian goes well with sweeping...and swinging a broom around like a staff... >_>

I like any music that comes under the metal genre. The only dance stuff I like is The Prodigy, and to a lesser degree Pendulum. All other dance stuff, especially the stuff aimed at Ibiza clubs, I really can't stand.

I don't listen to metal as much as I used to. I still listen to the classics like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden but I mostly listen to Ska, Roots Rock, and Reggae.

Define Dance, if you mean electronica stylings such as Tiesto and Ferry Cortsen. Than yes I do listen to Metal and Dance. If you mean stuff like Fergie remixes than no I dont.

I hate most things without lyrics. A lot of heavy metal and dance falls into this.

I don't see much of a link between the two genres, though. Besides that.

I dont like limiting my tastes to one genre. Your friends seem to be the same. Variety is good.

No, I see no relation. I find myself having a much more vested interest in the relation between metal and classical.

I loved that, I really did. Don't know why it reminded me of Classical Gas though.

I love thrash metal.
I love classic rock.

And I love Benny Benassi.

So, yeah, I'd say that judging by the posts in this thread thus far, there's definitely a correlation of sorts.
