So I have began thinking about Kiefer Sutherland's voice coming from Big Boss's mouth. As much as I find it cringe worthy I am beginning to believe the Kojima may still have something up his sleeve. After watching the English trailer of Ground Zeroes, I can't help but feel that his voice doesn't exactly fit the cutscene, however that may be just me.

Anyway. Kojima has been getting a lot of backlash from his fanbase about the whole David Hayter being replaced deal, which got me thinking about some of the dumber downloadable content ideas. After doing some research, I found that at least two games had voice over downloadable content.

Now, before you tell me I'm stupid hear me out.

Kojima has been known to do certain things for his fans, MGS4 Raiden body in Metal Gear Rising for example. So I am beginning to believe at some point, David Hayter will be contacted for voicing Big Boss (At the very least in the Ground Zeroes portion), but not as the games "true" experience. I have began to think that Kojima will be having David Hayter's snake voice as a form of downloadable content to help transition some of the older fans to a new voice. Its more or less a theory. But with this idea, Kojima wouldn't need to do anything to the visuals for the game, and the DLC would just be dubbed over Kiefer's voice.
The idea of voice over dlc may be stupid, but think about it. Would Kojima do something like that to please his fans, without ruining his game? I honestly believe that David Hayter will have voice over DLC. But thats just a thought.

... Yep that seems to make sense, they have Kiefer Sutherland to voice act in their game as a scam in DLC so you can get David Hayter to do it instead.

Except it doens't really. Konami wouldn't pay a known actor so just to replace him and would be a huge backlash agaisnt Konami should they pull this move. And a skin from Metal Gear Rising is NOT the same as a voice actor, since a skin is a much simplier and cheaper process to do than redo all the voice acting, that would cust a lot of money and time...

I like the idea that Solid Snake will be appearing and Hayter will be doing the voice work for him. But then again it seems odd the voice work has changed for the western release when it hasn't for the Japanese version.

Yeah, I dont think so.

From what they already showed I have the idea that in GZ he may be voiced by Hayter (still doubt it though) and in the other post coma part of the game by Kiefer (its how many years after the first part?)

They used a different voice actor in 4 (didnt made a lot of sense since Snake is a clone of Big Boss, they should sound the same) so they might as well make that transition eventually.

And to be honest while David Hayter is a cool guy and he does what he is asked for (pretend to have smoked a box of cigarettes in a row) the voice of Snake isnt all that convincing, Kiefer's voice is in its natural state like that (its the only state its ever in) so I really dont mind.

In the end the voice had to change one way or the other, maybe not in this game but they already did that change with 4 so there is no turning back from it, fans should have already know that instead of acting all suprised.

The fact is that that besides voice acting, they also capture your face motions while voice acting. even if you are not being motion captured for the body. So just adding Hayter for the sake of the fans isn't reasonable, because the work and the costs are too much for such minor feature.

I think we can expect to never hear Big Boss being voiced again by David Hayter and from what I have heard so far, I don't find this a big issue, but I do draw the line by Solid Snake, him being voiced by someone else would be horrible, because the iconic voice just works for him.
