To put this into perspective, Metro Exodus? script is larger than both Metro 2033?s and Metro: Last Light?s scripts combined, including all DLC.

Approaching a bandit camp at night might prove advantageous to a more stealthy player, but there may be more bandits around to have to deal with.

Choosing when and how to approach different situations will have measurable effects on the player?s experience while completing tasks.
Thats great. Its a huge ambitious project. when previous 2 metro games were linear and kinda short. this one will be lot longer, plus more open ended like Stalker with linear levels too.

if it done right. its going to be one of the greatest game of all time.

Goat is a big call but I'm looking forward to Exodus.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R, Roadside picnic and the Metro novels and have all been pretty enjoyable for me and an a more open world in that setting is exciting as fuck.

Inferior to STALKER for sure.
Probably. Shadow of Chernobyl was fantastic.

Inferior to the books as well. And yes, I dont need to have played it to know, all games are like that.
When you say that the games aren't as good as the books, I'm left wondering what books your talking about. Metro 2033 (game) did a decent job making the book into an FPS, though I admit I preferred the book. But Last Light was miles more interesting than 2034, a book that never needed to exist. And 2035 was a hot mess that could have been cut down to a novella and lost nothing of value.

OP: The one (major) complaint I have with Metro 2033 and Last Light was exploration. I really wanted a Fallout-type open world, but any time you explore in the games, you're almost guaranteed to use more ammo trying to not die than you'd gain from what you find.

Metro didn't really have a lot if exploring though. You basically went down a different tunnel than you were supposed to.

Part of the appeal of the STALKER games for a of people is planning ahead and preparing for a trip and knowing when fights will be to your advantage and when its best to cut your losses or what to leave behind. Really, thats the what makes exploring interesting. So if Exodus is like STALKER don't expect every trip out in the wilderness to be profitable.

that actually sounds terrible. I've always wanted to play STALKER but this makes it sound like a hot mess. I just played Divinity OS2 that was rife with this and all it did was make the game a lot longer and less enjoyable. If you can't plan properly so you don't have to run then what's the point?

Aren't the Metro game just Russian versions of Fallout games? I never understood the appeal. Seems like everything they do, Fallout does better, earlier, cheaper, and will less bullshit.

Is it sad that I was half hoping for them to have been banned for something other than being worthless spambots?

OT: While I'm not terribly excited about Exodus, I am hoping that it turns out well. If it does end up being better than the previous games then I'll be sure to grab a copy of the game when I'm able.

I honestly stil don't have alot of interest in Exodus. I fear it being streamlined alot more than Last Light already was compared to 2033 (which its remake suffered from aswel). Last Light didn't hit the atmosphere completely right either, and was a bit too much focussed on action. I gladly get proven wrong, but until then I am afraid i have to pass on this. Regardless how big the script is, or how well it may be written.

the first two were linear narratives with mostly slowly articulated Russian accents (I'd imagine to imply weariness or whatnot), It wouldn't be difficult to make a script larger than those if you happen to be writing a more explorative, open-ended world. Are they bigger than any Bethesda game script though? Or that there Dragon Age: Origins and its' sequels?

anyhow, as I always try to convince myself, lying there crying to sleep every night; it's not the size, it's how you use it [small] that matters or something[/small]

it'd be a scout and something to distract the kids from the brutal realities of their brief, hopeless lives. Just don't let it go too close to their faces

The only real point of comparison is that they're set in the post-Apocolypse.

I wish I could be more excited. Metro was a fantastic game seriously marred by on-rails gameplay so strict that it could have been an arcade light-gun shooter. The most interesting parts of it, the outdoors sections, had to be rushed through thanks to the air filter mechanic. I ended up buying the sequel but haven't even gotten around to playing it.

Last light improve everything from metro 2033. other than i prefer atmosphere in original.

Redux version benefits 2033 most.

I think a more polished, fine-tuned version of STALKER would be ideal. Keep all the options and level design intact, and improve the AI scripting, weapon physics/ballistics, animations, hit responses, and throw in some more opportunities for gameplay tactics like setting up land mines, C4, more dynamic destruction, etc. FPS dream come true.

it really did not. The UI took a step back, the looting is simplified.
That and the original 2033 may have felt clunky, but it was part of it. And I honestly don't even like that some aspects of the jury-rigged weapons were removed. Like the Uboink's inability to hold shells in all 6 clamps depending on how many shells are left in it. And this is just giving one example of why I don't even like the remake.

Last Light is a good game in its own right, but none of its mechanics feel right in 2033's remake.

Call of Chernobyl exists

You are alluding to CoD but it really has nothing to do with what I mentioned.
