Masked rapper MF Doom dies at 49

Daniel Dumile, best know as the rapper and producer MF Doom, died on October 31, his wife and label announced on Thursday. No cause of death was given.

Daniel Dumile, best know as the rapper and producer MF Doom, died on October 31, his wife and label announced on Thursday afternoon. He was 49.

"To Dumile. The greatest husband, father, teacher, student, business partner, lover and friend I could ever ask for," his wife wrote on the official MF Doom Instagram. "Thank you for all the things you have shown, taught and given to me, our children and our family. Thank you for teaching me how to forgive beings and give another chance, not to be so quick to judge and write off. Thank you for showing how not to be afraid to love and be the best person I could ever be.


"My world will never be the same without you. Words will never express what you and Malachi mean to me, I love both and adore you always. May THE ALL continue to bless you, our family and the planet. All my Love, Jasmine."

No cause of death was provided, only that Dumile had "transitioned" on October 31.

You might have been exposed to MF Doom via Adult Swim. Where he partnered with Danger Mouse released the LP "The Mouse and the Mask", with various raps based on Aqua Teen Hunger Force and the like. But he was a very skilled artist and he was absolutely one of my favorites.

Jesus, that's a shock. I really don't listen to a lot of Rap but he was one of the artists I actually did listen to. What an awful age to die at. May he rest in peace. Either unmarked or engraved, hey, who's to say?

Yeah, I read the news on the 31st. And it was barely three years ago that his son died too. What a damned shame. May both he and his son rest in peace, and may his living family manage to pull through the tragedy.

Heaven may wanna watch out, cuz there's a villain out to conquer it.
