The beta to the Minecraft 1.8 update is out! And it's almost bug-free!
Just replace your old Minecraft.jar with the new one you download from the link above!

If you use a mac:
You will find your .jar folder like so.. Library - Application Support - Minecraft - Bin - Minecraft.Jar.
Just replace this old one with your new!

If you haven't joined the rest of us in the future:
I think you look for %appdata and you'll have to use your initiative from there..

The Enderman is fucking disgusting, that split second when you put your crosshair over their head and they immediately turn around like O__O goes through me.

I spent a while in survival mode looking for a village, finally came across one and they're quite nice, although creepy without actual NPC's, plus the doors were sometimes impossible to get to without building blocks up or they were otherwise covered by dirt. I'm not sure if that's representative of the village's age or a glitch in the game though. They're nicely decorated, little tables and chairs in the houses with wells and lampposts outside. The houses were also made out of wood, which reacted nicely with my buckets of lava.

The first thing I did in creative mode, like any other human being, was dig down for as long as I could. After a lot of blocks I fell into an abandoned mine shaft, fuck those places in survival mode. I was shitting myself even though I couldn't die and had the best gear in Minecraft, lots of tunnels, lava pits, holes, zombies and cobwebs. If you see a lot of cobwebs clogging up a tunnel, turn around and run.

I really like this update, even the simple things like reeds on trees and long grass make me happy. I am however too scared to play it seriously right now. D:

I hate you sooooo much right now, I fucking searched for 4 hours(4 god damn hours!) and have yet to find any form of villages, I did find the stronghold however... which I refused to enter since I was newly spawned on the map and didn't have anything to fight with.

Also my first mine I went into had an abandon mineshaft and around 4 endermen in it, needless to say I closed it up and changed home.

But what I liked most about the update was the updated biodome code, every biodome got huuuughe now and real cliffs and oceans

Finally found out that it was actually the prerelease given to trusted companies and users for modding and bugtesting purposes... that one of them leaked. -_-

It's OK though, Notch and Jeb quickly rolled with it and have set up their own leak.

Um, I found one a hundred meters away from my spawn...

Try doing a Creative map, turning your draw distance all the way up, and flying. You'll see one. Or just climb a big cliff.

I've been waiting for this before getting back into minecraft, still I think I'll wait a bit longer till it's 'officially' released.

Any idea when the second part of this patch is supposed to be finished? If it's within a month or two I just might wait for that as well. I'm the patient sort.

I just got it earlier, It's pretty cool... if a little buggy.

I'm trying to find some of the new terrain types now. I'm quite impressed with the new swamp biome and I've even found a small NPC village.

So far it's looking good.

Mine keeps crashing, even when playing offline, in a new world, and the render distance on tiny. Hopefully the official release will fix things.

Huh, apparently you can smash bedrock in creative mode. I've died in the void twice now. Also my spawn-point is in a tree. I just felt like sharing that.

Haha, there was dungeon right beside it too > I like the bio changes too, the world is more varied, or at least varied enough for me to stand on a cliff and see that one way is all swamp and the other isn't. I like the depth of water now too, pretty scary looking down in the ocean and seeing pitch black. If Notch really wanted me to shit myself he'd implement sharks down there, I'm having reoccurring memories of that shark tank part with the crossbow in Half-Life 1 already ._. fuck that section.
