I just bought minecraft today, I've been playing it for a little bit but i still don't know how to get the most enjoyment out of the game. (P.S: How do you craft a torch, I put the coal and stick in the order minecraft wiki told me about but it's not doing anything.

The coal is supposed to go right above a stick and should yield four torches.

Ah thank god, I don't have to make a new thread:
Can anyone tell me how to get it to run faster? I love the game but I don't get why it's so jumpy. I have the framerate limited and the view distance to tiny yet it still runs jumpy. WoW runs smoother for crying out loud :(

?I would try setting the graphics to fast, not fancy.
And yes, i did finally get them to work. I was evidently using flint instead of coal.

In crafting table or by hand... Put the Coal in the top left part of the box then a stick on the bottom left box (Make sure it is a coal and a stick) :p
