Hi all,
I downloaded minecraft last night and after about 2 minutes it goes into major lag and it became unplayable, is there a way to solve it? My specs are i52500K 3.3Ghz, 8GB 1600Mhz RAM, Nvidia GTX580, windows 7 home premium.
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks

Perhaps it would be easier to take your questions about lag in Minecraft to the Minecraft official forums?

minecraftforum(.net)

Not that I doubt that the Escapist COULDN'T help, it's just that you might find more people better acquainted with Minecraft and running it there.

Best bet is to make the view distance short or normal and choose simple graphics. Usually fixes my lag issues. There are also mods out there that help but I don't remember any names off the top of my head.

You could set windows to "adjust for performance" under settings. I'd recommend shutting down unnecessary programs too.

F key will cycle through view distance. Those specs are better than what I have and I have been blowing up mine craft with nukes over the weekend with little lag. Minecraft forums would do a better job than us.

Could be a memory problem (I had this problem even though my RAM is fine) try raising and lowering memory usage. In the Tecnic pack its in options, I don't know how to in vanilla Minecraft. You could try looking up commands for windows that raise memory allocation for applications. Sorry I know this hasn't been very helpful but I know diddly about computors.
