I hate the fact that such a simple game (graphics wise) can chug so badly on non gaming computers. Seriously I had way too many deaths where I'd lag into lava or fire just to end up having all my items destroyed. And the random movement glitches, my character will randomly decide to move backwards diagonally or keep jumping to no end unless I hit escape. Pathing for the wolf pets are pretty piss poor, they'll hop along after you and just jump into cacti, fire, lava...pretty much anything that will kill them. Seriously most unintentionally suicidal thing ever.
More things to mine/do. Going through hundreds of blocks of cobble stone just to find a diamond or gold make me want to slit my wrists.
The ability to pull out blocks without destroying them or the ability to exchange a block with a currently placed one. Seriously having water or lava suspended and you want to change up blocks can be a nightmare.
I also get this double click glitch where I want to place a single block and it ends up placing 2 blocks which really sucks when you're using a block you had to craft like glass or stone where destroying the misplaced block means it is a complete waste. I don't know what causes it but it happens both on my laptop and gaming PC randomly.
More random stuff to craft, I remember building my first "house" and then finding out you can only build bookshelves and a bed...pretty piss poor furnishings.

Robots.

I want to build, program and launch Robots to do my digging / building / retrieval
Like Tok'Ra tunnel crystals

... and a way to synthesize gunpowder from ... like ... sugar and redstone maybe. But really just Robots

I wish it would run better on my laptop.

It seems so simple graphically but alas, my frame-rate drops to a stutter even on low settings.

That would be good. Though I suppose unlike other games rather than reading from a disk the world is being generated live so it may be an unavoidable problem.

Unlike modern games where only the details you can see. Exist.

in minecraft if you make a square that is 100x100 blocks wide that area contains nearly 1.3 million blocks from bottom to top.

Minecraft generates and maintains hundreds of millions of blocks in every session you play.

Well I remember Yahtzee saying he wanted metal/diamond detectors, I agree wholeheartedly. My wolves are fine since I dont let them near anything that could kill them....still, I hate having to coax them to go through a double door like as though the opening will hurt them, so an upgrade to their A.I would be fine and dandy. A fence door and a tnt arrows. Like, it destroys 1 block per arrow.

There are a lot of things I wish to see improved and added till the final game. Here are some suggestions:

- FIX THAT ANNOYING BLACK SCREEN CRASH. IT SUCKS!

- A tutorial and a Minecraft-pedia inside the game. I'am used to check up external pages when I really want to play a game in depth. However, a game should not expect that from the player. Help him, guide him and provide Information as needed. Civ 4 is a good example how to do it right.

- A Map and Minimap System. Although the Map system is going to be introduced with 1.6. I also want to have some kind of minimap to accurately gauge where I approximately am even if I do not have a map ready.

- A possibility to change the block-viewing distance in-game. Its much too low right now - even on far. I want to see my castle from the largest possible distance my computer supports and nothing less!

- A Jukebox that plays some set of custom mp3s from your harddrive or the server - would add a lot of atmosphere to some of your buildings. Note: It should be possible to set different jukeboxes to different sets of mp3s although that would probably be complicated as hell to program I really would like to have it.

- A possibility to move blocks in the game using redstone mechanisms. The possibilities here are endless.

- More furniture. If I build something awesome I want to properly furniture it. Different colored blocks and bookshelves just aren't enough. How about tables, chairs, shelves, an oven (yes an oven - not a furnace!) and other stuff that I can put up in my houses so that they look nice. Also some sort of redstone powered light source would be awesome - the torches tire me.

- Colored Glass

- An expensive resource detector. After a certain point, gathering ressources becomes a somewhat tedious chore. It would be nice to be able to speed up the process by introducing a ressource detector that could detect certain resources in a certain range.

- More weapons: How about adding guns? Must do huge damage and have a huge range but ammunition should be scarce. Why not use gunpowder for that - its already scarce enough and if you need it you would need to go and hunt creepers which would provide a bit of a challenge. Also on the list: Spears/Halberds. Huge range but degrade extremely fast.

- More Dungeons and an option to control their size and density when creating a map. Also Boss-Type monsters that spawn within dungeons and are harder to beat. Would add another layer of challenge and diversity to the game.

Also, I realize there's got be mods for all of this but I would really like to have that stuff already in vanilla - would save a lot of trouble.

Allow me to break out ye olde 'this'. I never thought a game composed entirely of cubes could make my laptop chug so hard just to animate.

I'd like to be able to make different colored glass so I could make a giant stained glass window of some sort.

Stained glass

Hot air balloon or some other flying device to help with building projects

A metal detector

Bulldozers or other heavy equipment for carving tunnels quickly

Furnaces that make stuff faster

it's actually more of a cpu intensive game, being a massive randomly generated entirely destructable enviornment and all
