Wasting my godamned time playing games like bioshock, infamous, fallout 3. only to find the other ending kicked ass and the other makes me cringe for being silly.
END THE MORAL CHOICE SYSTEMS

....Discussion maybe? Seems like your telling us to end the moral choice system. But you know, we can't.

Did you make this thread just to make a statement, or do you actually want us to discuss something? If so, what?

The Moral Choice System adds more replay value. And makes you replay the game if you want to see the other endings.

Uhh... so you wasted your time cause the ending was bad?
I thought the gameplay in the game might have been worth the time to be honest.
Fable 2 is an exception, the ending was terrible and the gameplay was not to my tastes.

But no, moral choice systems should continued to be used. Eventually one company will make it unique and truly a fresh experience.

Welcome to the Escapist and all, but try and read the rules here first..

Look mate, enough with these retarded threads. Yes, we get it, you're a big fan of Zero Punctuation, but it wouldn't hurt to have an original thought every once in a while! It also wouldn't hurt to ELABORATE EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. Simple "bash" statements are hated around here. They suck!

In the future, MAKE YOUR THREADS MAKE SENSE!!!

Puppies. Go.
Little puppies are adorable, little bunnies are better. I want to hug one.

Ok, seriously. Why do moral choice systems kill you so much? It adds a little variety to the game. If it comes off to you as a waste of time to play the game again as the other side, then don't. If you don't like those games in the first place, then don't play them. What's a Star Wars game without a Light and Dark side anyway? If you have any good ideas for innovating the system, then by all means send them to some developer who would probably like the suggestion. /thread

Moral choice systems are pretty interesting in my opinion. Just because you dont like them doesnt mean no one does so they are not going to end just because you dislike them

I hate puppies. They are sellouts. (Andrex)
As do I. I prefer chicks, bunnies, and kittens, in that order.

Boy, this takes me back to that one time with the waffles...

And what's wrong with moral choice systeams anyhow? That way I get to decide whether I'm Jesus or Satan, right?

I know yathzee had said this but I'd prefer the moral choice systems if they gave us more than 2 choices.

As it stands, it's better than having only 1 ending I suppose.

I don't mind moral choice systems, I dislike Karma levels because they make things seem so black and white. Mass Effect did a good job with theirs however as it wasn't about good and evil, it was about playing by the rules or being renegade. That is much better than "Good and Evil".

Fable 2 had a nice thing with two meters, but it lacked the depth to make it worth anything.

I like moral choice systems now that I think about it, but only when they shift from "Moral" to "choice", that has more meaning to me.

(I didn't know what the topic was so I decided you were asking what we thought of what you said)

Moral Choice Systems are good in theory, but there's too much Hitler/Mother Teresa choices and not enough Grey area/Neither is really wrong or right choices.

Usually that other ending is a different choice at the end of the game. Or, when developers have time, based on how good/evil you are at the end of the game.
Most people that want to see both endings will keep multiple saves, and those that play multiple times would have done it even without a choice system.

Moral "choice" systems like the one utilized in inFAMOUS (an otherwise totally satisfactory game) are gimmicky and are FORCED replay value, making you play the game exactly twice and then be done with it.

Bethesda has done the best (so far) with their open-ended choice/conversation system. What they do well is have characters that each respond to different levels of conversation rather than just good/bad. you can use charm, intellect, force, intelligence, or forgo talking altogether. Fallout 3 still boils you down to one main characteristic (at least they have five, rather than two) but i think they're definitely on the right track.
